I don't realky fancy pussy or widows 😋jk Actually only my parents time we buy those yearly and hope for it to bloom so as represent good fortune etc. I don't believe all that so don't waste money on them. I just upkeep my succulents some creepers and what ever that still growing. Even like that the topics on plants on my mini balacony still make conversational pieces yearly. Either my experiment with organic fertiliser or how that year cny decorations or how I managed to revive some plants ovef and over again 😂
-
Ikr, I don't like their pricing, wld rather go World Farm 🤣
-
Would u be there ?
-
Sorry didn't see this msg ealier. Yes all indoors. Generally don't buy just for CNY but do try to make existing plants look presentable during CNY. Like tying red packets on it or clean up pot exterior or stick red papers etc. So will take more effort just few months before to trim down and loosen soil etc

😂 too late to rectify a losing battle. They have grown silently in numbers and that why I stop using the nature ways.

@riverrobles indeed u do have greenhands 😂 I had planted cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, chillies etc. All indoors and some did have flowers but… not turn to fruits 😂 even my manual attempt to pollinate them fail. Must add that I didn’t fertilised them thou. Only using crushed chicken bones, egg shells, left over veg discards etc. All I accomplished are infesting my house with ants and spiders 😂 Thanks for your images. 👍 ❤️

Thanks for the compliment @shyc, you know I only started during the pandemic and these plants are all indoor plants. I made mistake last time to put these succulents under direct sun and outside of my balcony, but some of them got burnt hence I slowly took care of them again and it was a long process of healing. Theyve been with me for over a year, theyve experience all the 4 seasons, lessons learned is not be tempted to put them outdoors or reflected light. I also am proud because my chilis has now grown and my cherry tomatoes has yielded a lot. I now can say I have a green thumb.
-
@riverrobles Aw those succulents looks lovely. Well done. I got the Tillandsia usneoides or otherwise known as Spanish moss and no matter how I tried, it just dry up and died. I had tried soaking in water, misting twice per day, change it location, even resort to collecting rain water (and it super difficult to do so in a hdb 😂). Nothing seems to work.
-
I also salvaged sucullents that I thought had no chance of growth, I replaced the pot and the soil I used is a special mix of clay and some volcanic rocks. The brand of this soil is Seramis. Look at those babies!

For newbie gardening enthusiasts who probably would like to have a bit of challenge, just like what I did, you can buy a bulk order of plants from this company, see link below. https://www.plantler.com/en/discount-plant-boxes/green-misfits-box/ They are about 12 plants, already in pots but are damaged hence they are on discount. I just want to share the plants that Ive taken cared of as my adopted babies, they've grown well.

My hibiscus got mealy bugs when they were just bought over though but the same principle applies to any pest and diseases. Plants are vulnerable when they are stressed or unhealthy. So I pump fertiliser and give them enough sunlight and the mealy bugs were gone after 1-2x treatment.

Any of you facing pests husbandry by ants? My vegies and plants are suffering thanks to the ants that managing the scales. Every 1 to 2 weeks have to spend time clean the scales 😖 Lesser scales once raised the plants above water. But have to check for larvae from time to time.. sian

The greens make our homes beautiful. It is cold here and for two weeks in December there was heavy snow. The sight of plants inside homes make it more cozy and cleaa and fresh looking.

The plant with black aphids has flowers now , I sprayed it with mild soap + vinegar solution , the infestation has certainly been reduced but I still can see some aphids there, I just put in the balcony where there is a spider. I was thinking probably it could it all the aphids. Now I might buy an insecticide just to kill all them since they are now not placed indoors. I pity the plant, the leaves below are yellow but I dont want to throw or kill it because it is blooming. Thanks for all the advice.

Many self-help methods taught on YouTube I tried last for days only or totally not helpful. Tried spraying mild soap + vinegar solution, helpful to rid those brownish mini-spot infestation on money plants but be careful as it does 'burn' delicate leaves. Suppose to get rid of mealy infestation too. Yet to try using commercial products like neem oil which many sites recommend. Maybe you can try. Also tried garlic and Chilli solutions to get rid of ants but only last few days and the ants are back.
