Report from Taipei trip... well I must say Commando BMT and BCT did help put all other recreational gym activity into perspective - once you’ve run a 10km Standard Obstacle Course in full four with sand cans in your SBO, most exertions in the gym seem relatively reasonable, and you learn to push yourself through pain a bit more. What they needed were specialised coaches to instruct us on breathing and running techniques, and correct any poor form rather than just forcing our bodies aimlessly through activities. There was no denying some guys were just naturally gifted stamina-wise - the under 8-minute SOC was par for the course. But they mostly (with a few stunning exceptions) looked pretty average and lanky.

In terms of massage skills, here is MUCH better. The two guys I've tried were both good. The top floor has a sauna, but, according to a customer, nothing really happens there. In terms of masseurs, they got pretty good skills. Definitely give it a go when you need a good massage. 10. Massage Khiếm Thị Vinh Phát (402|19, Hoà Hảo, Phường 5, Quận 10) : Regular massage place, nothing special. Not busy either. SIDE NOTE: There is another Spa khiếm thị ÁNH DƯƠNG on this street. It is not marked on Google Maps, but if you entered this alley from Hoà Hảo Street, and keep going straight, you'll see it pretty easily. I personally did not even bother to try this place since apparently they have different price lists for Vietnamese and foreigners. The one for foreigners, written in English, is much more expensive than the Vietnamese version. After noticing the price differences, I immediately left... Couple things I find to be a bit annoying across almost every single massage parlor are that, one, the massages are always shorter than they supposed to be.. Like if I ask for an one-hour massage, it always ends around 45-50 mins; and if I want a 90-mins one, it never goes beyond 80 mins. Does anyone else encounter this problem? Would have been a lot better if they keep a timer or something...Two, the inconsistency of skills among different masseurs. I mean I do understand that different people may have different styles, but the differences are so noticeable that it becomes a game of chance. If you're lucky, you might get someone really good, but if not, well... your money just went down the drain..
