Okay this thread is inspired by @CamperBoy and @hunkchaser. Share your gym pet peeves! 1. Body odour. I would like to go up to this certain guy at my gym and introduce to him the wonders of deodorant. 2. Cruisers who don't get the hint. Sorry I really don't like to cruise or get cruised at the gym. Never shit where you eat. The gym is a serious space where I work out and improve myself - not to have sex.

Just wanted to know how often would one go visit the gym for attending fitness classes vs self training w weights and machines or all of the above activites? For me i started with going for PT many years back as i was new to thr gym scene for toning up and building muscles. Then after two years i started attending classes like pilates and yoga. Now moving on to try other classes and i try to go 4 days a week. A mixture of classes and own workout.

I promise not to... tell pple on Grindr i am 1.71m when the Polyclinic-measurement-height-monitor always says i am 1.68 metres ( i could go on forever but this is not Confession time with a Priest so let's just leave it there... )

Hong Kong gym chain California Fitness seeks buyer as it faces winding up petition Company’s troubles deepen two months after it was named and shamed for intimidating sales practices The troubled California Fitness gym chain is looking for a buyer as it faces a winding-up petition from a creditor. This comes just two months after it was rapped by the city’s consumer watchdog for using intimidation and misleading sales practices on customers. The firm – formally known as JV Fitness and which also trades as mYoga and Leap – said in a statement: “The company is currently in negotiation with potential buyers for the acquisition of its business or shareholdings.” Top gym chain California Fitness in trouble again after customer allegedly tricked into HK$140,000 payment It assured customers that operations would carry on as normal “until further notice”. A High Court document on Tuesday showed the petition was filed by BeSpark Technologies Engineering, solely owned by Wong Ping-kuen, who until May was a JV Fitness director. The amount that JV Fitness, one of the city’s biggest gym operators, owes the creditor is not immediately known, but a hearing date has been scheduled for August 31. California Fitness, which opened its first gym in Hong Kong in 1996, currently has nine branches in the city and 15 centres across Asia. While mYoga boasts two branches, Leap, a community version of California Fitness, has one. An investigation by the South China Morning Post reveals that four directors – Wong, Cheng Wai-hong, Cheng Kar-tat, and Chan Wai-man – departed one after another between April and May. The Company Registry shows that Wong joined as a director in December last year. In April, California Fitness was publicly named and shamed by the Consumer Council. The council said the number of complaints lodged against the fitness chain increased by 30 per cent to 296 cases in 2015. The figure accounted for 51 per cent of all complaints the council received. Among them, 22 cases involved over HK$100,000 each, and in one case HK$570,000. Hong Kong Consumer Council names and shames California Fitness for aggressive sales practices The council said earlier that half of the complaints against the gym chain were lodged by new members who claimed they were pressured or misled into signing membership agreements, with one of the most common practices being lucky draws or free trials. Customers would then face hard-sell tactics or be lured into providing their bank card information for transactions without their consent, the council alleged earlier. California Fitness was also earlier under fire for allegedly forcing a mentally challenged man to pay for fitness courses and take out loans totalling HK$90,000. Barrister and lawmaker Dennis Kwok warned that if the chain went bankrupt, gym-goers might lose their membership fees. “General customers come last,” he said, of the aftermath of a winding-up order being granted. A Consumer Council spokesman said customers should avoid paying large subscription fees in one go as they could lose their money should the gym chain close. http://www.scmp.com/news/hong-kong/law-crime/article/1982745/hong-kong-gym-chain-california-fitness-seeks-buyer-it-faces

Hi there, just for a point of discussion. I came across an article about a boutique gym in the US whereby they have this exclusive use of gym policy. That is at any one time in the gym, there is a max of only 5 members be inside. The gym is pretty well equipped. Think the system works like the gym memberships is relatively low. About US$50/month. The members have to pre-book their intended workout sessions via an app and make the necessary payments (think is about $8/hr). if there are more than 5 pax booked the same hour, the 6th pax will be placed on a waiting list. Think they have packages of membership whereby you have allocated no of sessions you can booked for the month. Think they are group classes as well, so as members you are encouraged to join the group classes if there is no available slots for you to workout in the gym. Do you think this would be a gym that you are willing to be a member of? Your thoughts and comments?

This is an open question to all, and especially for the mods. Do you guys think we should have a fitness interest group? There are so many threads in the main forum on fitness. Some of them are on different subjects yet lumped under the same thread. If we had an interest group, we could discuss gym memberships, exercise tips, weight loss advice. Additionally, members can post progress pics etc to get feedback and tips. What do you guys think?
