Specialist memo from doctor

I need a specialist memo for my current diagnosis after a recent visit to SGH as requested by the insurance company in order to make the claim. I tried to ask the lady who set up my appoinment with the doctor on how to contact her for the memo but no reply so far. after exploring the SGH website, I saw there is a channel where people want to make an insurance claim can order the medical reports at a price which is quite expensive. Do I really need to pay for the medical reports or can I just ask the doctor to write me a memo (as part of the consultation fees?) I have sent my queries to other customer service from SGH and waiting for reply. If really need to pay, I will ask the insurance guy whether a lab result will be sufficient or not.

Anyone can offer me advice/experience, if you have gone through this before?

Thank you

Depends on your claim. If it is an simple condition, a memo will suffice. But it involves a lot of money (to justify why you were on treatment A and then changed to B, had complication and changed to C) - will need a formal medical report.

Because writing a full report takes time and most clinic sessions are too busy to type that for you.

Thanks Peter. I think my case is quite simple. just some blood test. but the blood test + consultation fees is quite a lot of money. ard sgd 600. So, hopefully the doctor can write me a memo without the need to order the medical reports.

Sorry? Did you forget that you live in Singapore?

The consultation fees for the doctor does not include writing medical reports. In particular at a hospital.

Probably you just have to suffer the fees. You better get yourself informed because to receive the reports will take some time...

They have a special fee for writing insurance reports. You better ask your insurance what you exactly need.

Hospitals in Singapore are not run as charities...

I know the response won't make you happy...

Does the insurance cover the costs for the reports?

Bro, from my experience with SGH, the doctors will not issue you a memo after consultations with them. It is time consuming. You need to pay if you need a medical report no matter how simple it is. Fees are between $70 to about $150 and depending how lengthy it is. Aside from this, you need to wait for it to be ready( at least 2 weeks) Hope this helps.

Thanks Bro. I will ask the insurance guys whether they will just accept the lab result. Thanks Bro:)
