I agree with @Guest whteva that there is a risk - a probability - that one might be seen entering a gay sauna by people one knows.  The more people one knows, the higher the probability of being seen by someone known to oneself of entering a gay sauna.  It is a mere matter of statistics. 

 

How the other party knows that location is a gay sauna, and why the other party happens to be in the vicinity of the gay sauna could a point to raise if the discovery of one entering a gay sauna arises. 

 

To reduce the risk to nil, the answer would be to not enter a gay sauna totally.  But that may not be a suitable or palatable option for some people. 

 

If you wants some fun, you shall have to accept the associated risk.

The fear of someone you know seeing you entering a gay sauna is real.  In Asia, being seen indulging in homosexual activities is not as accepted as in Western Countries.

 

While the fear is real, the probability of being seen by someone you know is probably not that high.  However, I do not have the statistics. 

 

Empirically speaking, I have been to many saunas many times and I have not been seen doing so by anyone I know.

At best, the narrative spin is you got laid by several guys while this someone sits at home alone eating a tub of ice cream. At worst, he or she knows you are gay, and is probably going to get laid by several guys while he or she sits at home alone eating two tubs of ice cream. 

 

The important thing is you had sex. He or she didn't.

You know, sex is great but in a world full of saunas and apps, having sex is not the massive achievement you seem to think it is

Actually, the privacy laws (while still not perfect in Singapore) have increased.

 

If people start ridiculing you with abusive things, then now you can react against it.

 

Since 377A has been repealed there is also no real thread of blackmailing or threatening any homosexual any longer.

 

Let's take the worst case scenarios:

You see your colleague in the sauna. So what? He might have suspected it long time ago, also might have seen your profile on one of the dating apps.

 

You see your former class mate in the sauna. And? You really think he will gonna trouble you?

 

What is actually this fear of seeing someone you know at the sauna?

I agree. I think there are more important things in life than just sex. However, if one is to spend the time and money going to a sauna, I am sure, you expect a return on investment somehow, than going home alone dissatisfied, and having to wank off alone. I think of having sex as part of self-care. 

 

People have sex all the time. and there is really nothing shocking about it. Someone you know seeing you walking into a sauna is no different than seeing you walking into a brothel if you are straight.
