Guest AtomicD
The internet is convenient, easy and with no questions asked, but lets not forgot that PrEP is a medication that needs to be consulted by a specialist. Let’s encourage the PrEP virgins to access it the proper way first ?
Guest Guest
Can also get PreP from Pulse Clinic at Silom, Bangkok which is a legitimate clinic run by Thai doctors if you want more privacy. You can Google for the direction to the clinic. It's near to Silom BTR and the last time I used their service, they even had an online appointment system there to talk to one of the doctors/male nurses so that you can get the prescription from them too. I went to DSC before for a simple vaccination shot, and that vaccination didn't even have anything to do my sexual health at all. But yet they subjected me to an entire barrage of inconvenient survey questions including the entire past history of my sexual relationships spanning over more than half a decade. The further I answer the questions, the more personal it got, to the extent that I cut the survey short, paid for whatever I needed to pay, and walked out of the clinic, without even going for the vaccinations. I recalled that they even asked me how long I was in each of my past relationships. I subsequently launched a complaint with National Skin Center (parent organization) against DSC and they were surprised as to why I had to do that survey because they don't seem to know that the doctors at DSC were doing it. They subsequently told me that the survey has been nullified and my survey results was simply stated as "Patient refused to participate" (or something to the extent). The experience left me with the impression that some government-based clinics wanted to make themselves as inaccessible to the public as possible, by making things as difficult or embarrassing as possible for the patients, so that they have less work to do but can still earn taxpayers money. Dr T
Buying PrEP from the internet may be cheaper and convenient. However, please remember that you need to have an initial medical consultation with a Doctor trained with prescribing PrEP and also regular follow up. We have had cases where patients started PrEP on their own for many years. Only to realise later that they were already HIV positive and ended up with HIV that is resistant as they were not taking the proper treatment. On the other hand, i have seen cases where they were on PrEP, but due to improper usage, ended up with HIV. Thankfully they were on regular follow up so they were picked up early and treated early. So please seek medical consult and follow up when you are on PrEP. You need to have the right info to really protect yourself properly and others too.
