I think your anxiety is normal, for a young guy. Just take it as an experience.

Army can be a life changing moment for you and hopefully you can learn more about yourself and your abilities as well as get to know some good friends.

Anyway, it's normal to have a hard on when u wake up in the morning. Every guys have one. It's natural. But if you are having a hard on looking at other guys during shower time, then I advice to you is not to "stare" at guys when you shower.

Unless you are those who are proud and out with your gayness and don't mind everyone knowing that you are gay, my advice for you is to keep your gayness to yourself and just be one of the boys (just as if during your school days). That should throw some lights on how you should behave.

A word of advice; you can do anything, just don't get caught.

when i was enlisted into the army, i had the same worries as well, esp what if i got an erection when i bath.

then BMT shower area were like the old swiming pool, with the showing heads side by side, no partition at all.

However other than the 1st night which all of us were rather reserved on showering, the rest of the nights we were so tired that we just wanted to shower and go to bed immediately (that's when i realised the one benefit of botak - you can sleep immediately without waiting for your hair to dry)

If you are in tekong, there has been a widely spread rumor that the malaria pills they are giving curbs sexual urge.

I met my first chinese BF while in BMT - he was a senior clerk who was OFC following an injury in commando training when I was loboing after missing my posting. It was amazing - we had sex everywhere while in camp, there are a lot of private places to go in a huge base. We were NOT 302s - that way no one was suspicious when we disappeared for hours after lunch.

Be a man about your NS obligations - don't be a chao keng. Take it as your first step into manhood. Don't waste your time trying to waste everyone's time

Seems like army camp is a great place to explore one's sexuality and find bf. I also met my 1st man 3 mths after BMT. He was a junior clerk and invited me to his home for barbeque. Then I was barbequed by him in the midst of sleep. The angry thing was later I found that he had a regular bf in the same camp.

To add to the above 2 posts, I was enlisted without knowing my own sexuality and only discovered it during BMT when I sucked the first cock which belonged to one of platoon mates. Disappearing for hours in the camp is common and people will just know that you are simply idling.

Night duties are especially fun for me as I did them in the medical clinic and had the whole place to myself. Sometimes, one of the chubby drivers and cooks who are on the same duty shift will come over to enjoy the aircon and "keep me company" but we never talked about the encounters after that. Those days were memorable..........

One of the biggest worries for gays in NS is to have erections while bathing in open concept shower areas and seeing other naked guys.

Nowadays in BMT, the shower areas have partitions although without doors so it's still quite okay. 2 things you can do:

1) Choose those cubicles at both ends. Normally people queue up in the centre of the cubicle area (for eg. there's 10 cubicles so people will usually queue in front of the 5th/6th cubicles). In this way, there will be no one staring at you showering. Trust me, many people always rush for the cubicles at the ends. Everyone, str8 or gay, does not like people staring at them showering, unless you are an exhibitionist.

2) Face the shower head. Front of body inwards, exposing the back of your body. Common sense. If you have an erection, no one will know since no one can see it!

Those who have not gone through NS have these worries cos they do not know how shagged it is after training. Trust us, you are soooo tired you have no time to have any sexual thoughts, much less to say getting erections. For me, lights out is at 2230 and we only hit the showers at nearly 2200 everyday. There are still so many things to do after showers like washing clothes, calling my loved ones, packed my belongings etc etc that I have no time to have any sexual thoughts!

And once you are in units, the cubicles come with doors so no more worries.

  • 2 weeks later...
you mean now there are cubicles?? i thot NS guys shower together....

and how/when do you all wank when you feel the need??

Now the new camp no more open concept. Only those old concept got open concept showering room. But during my reservist day, there were guys who deliberately opened the door and let you see their cock or they probably feel lonely inside the cubicle and just one to see people walking about during showering.

My happiest day is to sleep next to the guy I like inside a squeezy tent during field exercise and hear him snore while I tried to feel his crotch without him knowing.

I started in camp too.

Ever did many times in bunk and duty room. He he ...

Later he became my bf for 5 yrs.

We even R.O.D together.

That's the most lovely relationship I had which I never forget.

It was also my first relationship with a man.

Lastly, we ended as he went overseas for study .

His sexual orientation turned straight.

He is now married with a kid.

I'm very happy for him.

I do see him around in the yearly reservist call up. Same unit.

I never talk about us anymore. He look at me. I look at him.

We knew our past.

It was about the worst time in my life. To this day I cannot bring myself to wear combat fatigues outside reservist duties. Sometimes I wonder if it is only guys who have never done army chose to wear camouflage fatigues as "fashion".

In BMT (back in 1987), I was in the "obese" company. In overzealous attempts to make us lose weight, the instructors' "tekan" was so bad, one guy in my company committed suicide during weekend leave because he didn't want to go back to camp. A big inquiry was called and things got a little better after that.

The active unit I was posted to was a guards (7SIB) heliborne artillery unit. In field manoeuvres, we were often deployed by helicopter onto some forward landing zone. Can you imagine dismantling your cannon into pieces weighing as much as 80 kg and strapping it onto your back. Then strapping more of your personal equipment and weapon for kilometres before reaching the deployment ground as ordered? No wonder so many of us suffer from knee injuries (myself included). Thank goodness these artillery pieces have been phased out

Now only with the buffer of nearly 20 years since I left full time NS can I look back at small snippets of time and think, "yes, that particular incident was fun". But all in all it has left such a bad taste that, I would rather wear purple leopard print than put on army camouflage shorts.

PS - The only saving grace were the very cute Enciks (warrant officers) who were instructors at the gunnery sergeant course at School of Artillery. And I swear a couple of them must be gay!!!

Its strange. I always look back at my BMT days at Pulau Tekong with rather fond memories. I guess its just me. I tend to forget all the unpleasant things and remember those good times of camaraderie and how a whole bunch of us upon book out will go home shower then meet up again at the pub or whatever... it was so much fun hanging out with them, even though they are all straight.

But those times where we were tekaned by our instructors? ... I forgot all of that already.

the happiest moment in my life was the mid of mynsf terms in hq 7sib..back then i was driver and half way change to clerk cum driver in mtl....i was always attached to BRC company...and all the officers were kinda close to all driver...i was kinda close to one ah beng chn officer.he kinda cute too...one of the question he ask when i was the duty driver and he is the duty officer, was "you wanna have sex with me ,huh"....thats was when i was looking for him to ask for permission to go out a while...kinda stunned too and i treat it as joking manners..hehehe

When my unit was in wallaby for a month training,i got closer to their master sgt whom is young early 30s mrrd man...in wallaby,he will look for me instead of other drivers and i was given special granted for certain things when he was doing duty officer in camp....He is know for the one of the fierce duty officers when they on camp duty.but other ncos kinda surprised when he treated my gd than other sgts who on duty while i was only l.cpl....i always missed my nsf life althou the starting was kinda hell... :swear:

Army days was the happiest moment in my life. I made lots of friends in camp as well as many friends outside. It was like a coming of age thing for me. Get to see and learn many things in camp. It made me more self reliance and independent.

I guess compared to suckling pig, I was lucky. My life in camp was not tough. After I completed my vocational course, the unit I went was quiet switch off. :) I stayed in camp almost everyday instead of booking out as it was rather far from my home.

Everyday after work, I will go to SGT Mess and eat my dinner and later proceed to Other Rank Mess to watch TV and Video. Every week, someone will bring pxxn and almost everyday we will be watching pxxn in the mess. During those time, our camp wasn't very strict in catching us watching pxxn. Except once when the reservist was having their in-camp training. Many were caught in the mess watching pxxn by the Duty Officer. Most of the active guys got extra while the reservist were fine during their court martial. I was the lucky one to have escaped.

I miss my camp life even after all these years.

I hate army, now going to study to escape all these. I hate the men there who always teased me to suck them and made the whole platoon laugh. When I showered, they will delibrately moaned loudly next door and even showed me their erected dicks. This Ah Beng with tatoo was the worst. During rest time when I was lying on bed reading or playing with my mobile, he will climbed behind me and rub his erected cock against my butt and shouted for the rest to come and see while holding me tight. My Staff SGT is also one kind, he sometime grabbed his crotch when I walked by, expecting me to catch the meaning. I was so afraid to shower when one of the stupid PRIVATE suggested I should be ganged and masturbated.

I am not afraid of gay men but straight men can do nasty things to me. Hope next time they transfer me to a better unit when I graduated.

I am actually surprised such behavior is tolerated. During my BMT (circa 1995) we had a male-to-female in-transition recruit. He looked totally like a girl, plucked eye-brows, some tits that were poking out of that olive-khaki tee-shirt that SAF issue out. Obviously he was already in an intermediate stage of transition I think with the chest being the most apparent. Still he had to go through BMT like the rest of us as he still has a penis attached.

We were all given a briefing on the first night by the CO that we are all to treat this person with respect and not to tease him or make any disparaging remarks. If he hears any complains the whole unit kena.

So this person got priviledges, i.e. he gets his own bathroom and toilet. I would say overall he is a pretty decent person and works just as hard as any of us. A rather amusing incident was when we all had to jog 5km and apparently he did not wear a sports bra that day and it was apparent that his boobs are poking out of the tee-shirt and jiggling. The PT at some point had to tell him to stop running as it was very distracting. :thumb:

Love.

I wish that were true.

In a poetic twist of fate, my reservist unit was a division command post. You know what its like? it's like one of those movies where the general walks into the the command post and there are lots of big screens showing maps and pictures from uav ( unmanned airborne vehicles), computers everywhere.

Now during exercise, in the command post, it is aircon 24 hours. Outside the command centre compound (guarded by RPs and razor wire) there is a BUFFET SPREAD !!! I shit you not !!! There is free flow coffee, tea, ice water, snacks. There are generals and colonels everywhere, so the cookhouse food also will be good.

See ..... this is virtual heaven is 180 degree opposite from the shitty 2.5 years of my full time NS days.

Moral of the story? Eat enough shit and you will eventually end up at the buffet table. Or is it the other way around ?????

Like it or not, whether you are sissy or str8 or gay or whatever, you still have to complete the 2yrs or 2.5 yrs as long as you a Singaporean. Be it sweet or bitter, memorable or forgettable every Singaporean have to go through it.

For me, I take it as positive as I can even when there are times I really hate the things I am doing. But I still considered myself better off when compared to those who had it worst than me. Life still goes on. Bad times will past eventually. I tried to make my stay in the army as happy and enjoyable as possible. I walk away having fond memories of my stay in the army.

My reservist life is great too, but that is another story.

OMG! It' s like Deja-Vu again. This happened to one of my platoon mates 'Hamzah' 20 yrs ago. One platoon mate, obviously drunk after his canteen break, crawled into 'Hamzah' 's bed. 'Hamzah' was so afraid and I found him sleeping in another bed(one without bedshheet/pillowcase) just to escape from the intoxicated guy. I could not tolerate this and chased the 'asshole' off the bed and asked 'Hamzah' to return to his own bed. I told him he should not let anyone treat him like this. I asked him to stick to me and became his 'BODYGUARD' from that day onwards. We would shower together and our platoon mates thought we were having 'hanky-panky' in the bathroom. In fact, nothing happened. They though we were a 'couple'.

I remembered once we were marching back to our platoon and this guy from behind kept touching our ass. Once we reached the bunk, I attacked him and wrestled him to the ground, almost broke his glasses. The poor guy, plus the rest of the platoon were in shocked. I warned him not to do that anymore.

That was the 1st and last 'ass-fondling' incident.

I believe your 'straight' platoon mates are acting out their deepest desire in an unconsciousness manner.

I have a lot of advances from so called straight NS men(single/married) during my NS days, active or reservist.

They would ask me about my sexuality, invite me to shower with them.....

One would ask me if I know what is a 'blow-job'. I told him it was that thing a hair stylist would do after washin one's hair - picked up a hair dryer and blow you dry . I would act blur and ignore. A couple of them are actually quite cute - a married man, a bodybuilder. Too bad I did not and still believe business and pleasure should never mixed.

I am not advocating violence. Running away would not help. Stand up for your rights.

Report this to the proper authority. I wish you well
