Well I am revealing my age now...

I used to listen to her on my Sony Walkman while I was doing my NS!

Love the upbeat tunes ... however, stop listening to her when she turned gospel..

Perhaps HIM and I dont gel that well..

Perhaps Lady Gaga should include a Donna Summer-feel into her concerts.

Here's to Donna.. you work damn hard for your money and yes, you were the hot stuff.

Thank you for the wonderful times together.

Please Rest in Eternal Peace.

In the 70s, disco was defined by John Travolta dancing in Saturday Night Fever and the the theme song "Staying Alive" sung by Bee Gees in their "False Voice".

I attended a concert by Robin Gibb when he toured Singapore in 2000s. Beautiful songs and beautiful voice.

RIP Robin Gibbs.

If everyone is a "star" in the pxxn industry, there are still a few genuine superstars. Among gay pxxn players, there have been very few in recent years hotter, physically and status-wise, than Falcon Studio’s exclusive Erik Rhodes. In a posting to Rhodes’ own Twitter account, there was a brief statement that, at 5:30 a.m. June 14, Rhodes, 30 at the time of his death, was found dead in New York City, the apparent victim of a heart attack.

Born James Elliot in the suburban landscape of Long Island east of the city, Rhodes had only recently celebrated his 30th birthday. Although he apparently died in his sleep, the exact circumstances surrounding his death remain unknown as of this writing.

Headlining in such titles as "The Farmer’s Son," "Beefcake," "Ivy League," "Asylum," "Afterparty," "The Pledge Masters," "The Velvet Mafia" and "Best Men," Rhodes’ appearances were distinguished not only by his muscular bodybuilder’s physique and handsome features, but also by his humor, sexual range, undisputed acting talent and keen professionalism.

Zach Sire, the editor of NakedSword’s widely followed adult industry blog The Sword, called Rhodes one the greats, "not only a gay pxxn star: he was a legend." Commenting on Rhodes’ widely-followed Tumblr blog with a title that, in retrospect, seems prophetic, "Erik Rhodes: A Romance With Misery,"Sire posthumously wrote, "He loved what he did, even as his public persona detailed his love/hate relationship with the industry. He was perfect -- the complete package -- a true star and a great performer -- with a notorious flair for headlines for personal drama."

"I’m still surprised," Sire said. "Even covering him as I have for the last four years, it is still terrible shock. It means something bigger for the industry too. He was one of the last true stars. It’s a great loss."

A Troubled Man’s Public Honesty

Unlike many others who preceded him into an early death, Rhodes made no effort to hide his struggles with his personal demons. Using interviews, his Tumblr blog and a personal blog, Portrait of an American pxxn Star: James/Erik: Underneath It All, Rhodes publicly recounted the personal toll his career in adult films was taking on him.

"My name is James," Rhodes had once written. "I have worked in the adult entertainment industry for the last seven years of my life under the name Erik Rhodes. I’m not sure how I ended up here, and I don’t know how i have survived this long. All i do know is that it can be a very lonely place and sometimes i need a blog to get shit off my chest."

His final entry, posted on June 9, was in response to a fan’s questions about his steroid cycle. The answer was shocking: "My cycle right now...3000 mg of Test Enanthate a week, 2500 mg of Nandrolone Decaonate and 300 mg of Trenbolone Acetate. With 5iu of Human Growth Hormone everyday. I’m waiting until i pop. Or my liver to (sic) fails... which every (sic) comes first." Even for a professional bodybuilder, pumping such an extraordinary amount of anabolic steroids would be considered extraordinary.

Rhodes also posted multiple entries over the years on his problems with drugs, alcohol, and depression. In one 2010 entry, Rhodes wrote, "Tuesday night... high on pills, out till 4am. Then basically the rest of the week. I’m not sure how we make it home most nights. I tend to only remember the parts where i have force myself to snap out of letting the pills steal my soul. The part where you just feel like your sinking... and if you don’t snap yourself out of it you would just melt away into the floor."

When a fan recently inquired online if he was going to Fire Island that weekend, Rhodes responded, "I’ll be in Chicago... Lets see if i can hang onto my sobriety..."

Multi-award winning producer-director John Rutherford, President and Creative Director of The COLT Studio Group, also commented to EDGE.

"Erik was a great guy," John Rutherford, president and creative director of Colt Studio Group, told EDGE. "It saddens me to think about his struggles. At 30 years old I only wish that Erik would have been able to look back on his career in his old age as most of us will. He will be admired by all his fans and missed deeply by his peers."

Bloggers were quick to respond with an outpouring of shock and grief. On Rhodes’ blog, sample comments read: "Sorry, Erik. Hope you find the peace you deserved here on earth. I wish you would’ve enjoyed life a lil"; "Hope you’ve found eternal peace"; "You were ****ed up in the head thats for sure, but I LOVED your work. Shame, mate. RIP."

Rhodes began his career at the age of 22 with an exclusive contract with Falcon Studios in 2004. He later moved into directing, with eight Mustang Studios titles to his credit. Most recently, he had begun filming with Falcon after its 2011 merger with Raging Stallions Studios. Rhodes’ videography includes over 40 scenes and dozens of titles.

"We at Paper were incredibly saddened to learn of the death of our friend, adult-film star Erik Rhodes, who apparently died in his sleep last night," wrote Mickey Boardman, editorial director at Papermag.com, the website of the trendy art and entertainment magazine. "The 30-year-old Long Island-native was a truly hilarious and larger-than-life character as well-known for his wicked sense of humor as he was for his enormous muscles. Rhodes was a legend in the gay adult film world....famously appearing in an ad for [the Men’s Department of clothing discounter chain] Loehman’s, and in the front row at the Marc Jacobs fashion show. We’ll cherish his hilarious stories that didn’t make it to print -- including the one of him losing his virginity at a Mexican restaurant in a strip mall and being served a burrito lunch on the set of his adult film debut."

Adam Q. Robinson of Falcon Studios released a Twitter statement, "It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of Erik Rhodes this morning. Erik died of a heart attack in his sleep. Erik has been an amazing friend & part of the Falcon family for 8 years, a man of steel on the outside but all teddy bear on the inside."

A press release from Falcon Studios offered condolences to Rhodes’ family and friends and called him "a genuine and caring man with extraordinary attractiveness and a massive muscled frame." The studio release praised Rhodes as "an equally beautiful human being who lit up a room, and brought fun and joy to our studio and his fans that was unparalleled ... a giving person with a special wit."

Whatever his personal problems, Rhodes apparently never allowed them to affect his performance. "He put his all into every performance," according to Falcon. "He wanted to give his fans the best he could every single time he stepped in front of the camera."

Brutal Self-Description

In 2008, Rhodes described himself as 6 feet tall and weighing 230 pounds. "I enjoy the gym," he wrote, "stealing music, movies and diner food. I have one brother, Jon, two sisters Danielle and Michelle, and two parents, Jim and Sue."

He described himself as "completely insecure ... a long-term relationship guy. I have goals and i am determined to achieve success and happiness in this lifetime. I will always win." In the Twitter posting of his death, a boyfriend named Riccardo is mentioned.

In a sense, Rhodes wrote his own obituary when he wrote in his blog, "I guess it is kind of funny when you look at it from a step back. How one man can literally buckle under the same pressures other men operate normally under. I have soaked this out from all angles, walking through time I have been over everything in my head, still I can’t think anymore. But I guess some times, when you can’t breathe, there are people there to breathe for you. I am lucky enough to have those people around me. Thank you for helping me to not die."

But he did die. In the middle of Rhodes’ self-description on his blog, he inserted a phrase that, in retrospect, seems sadly self-revelatory: "In January of 2008, I went crazy."

Rhodes’ death will no doubt set off another round of self-introspection and outside criticism of the gay pxxn industry. The roster of stars that died young is depressingly long, including such legends as Joey Stefano and Steve Fox. In February, Roman Ragazzi, the nom de pxxn of Dror Barak, committed suicide in New York.

It should be noted that this is hardly a problem only in gay pxxn. A

lists the many female pxxn actors who have committed suicide.

But such an early death of a star of Rhodes’ stature is bound to become ammunition for those who see pxxn as exploitative and sleazy. Coming as it does hard on the heels of the ever-more-bizarre erstwhile gay pxxn actor in Montreal who apparently killed a man, dismembered him, partly ate him and sent body parts to politicians, Rhodes’ death only adds to an industry already suffering the woes of an entire film industry facing contraction from competing media and digital downloads.

"It is a terrible tragedy when a 30-year-old man dies," pxxn studio head and producer-director Michael Lucas told EDGE. "It is a shame that there was no one to save him from himself."

we all watch pxxn but i have always wondered why people choose it as a career? for the money or because of an exhibitionism streak?

it was mentioned that he led a life hooked on drugs and bodybuilding steriods. he also suffered from depression. it's apparent that he did not sort out his life. but RIP man.

well i like sex, and if i can be paid for having sex then isnt that a good thing? ( not prostitution larh. )

its like adult entertainment lor. they are like movie stars but dealing in the adult entertainment industry.

in other countries its not a big deal and they have fans who openly worship them.

they get to work with different other models, participate in orgies and act out all sorts of fetishes and at the same time, get paid for it.

generally gay industry pay more than the straight ones and the weirder the fetish, the higher paid the model will be.

yup.

Saw this news on CNA.

Still remember this Da Bing was arrested twice by the Taiwan police for drugs consumption.

But his death in Beijing was totally unrelated to drugs.

I remember it was more than just drugs , it was reported in the chinese papers he was caught in a compromising position with other men in the hotel room where not only drugs were found but condoms and lubes and it was suspected the men were about to have an all male orgy.

Later on , the deceased had to bow out of entertaintment circle for a while , while denying all allegations about being involved with drugs and orgy, the excuse being he was at the wrong place at the wrong time.

The Taiwanese media hounded him for a long time about this alleged orgy and drugs , that he had to go into rehab and declare himself cleaned up after a few months.....

later he was caught again with drugs second time....

May he rest in peace.

Anyone wanna confirm the drugs and orgy story..

Director Tony Scott left notes in car, office before his apparent suicide

By Chelsea J. Carter and JD Cargill, CNN

August 21, 2012 -- Updated 1407 GMT (2207 HKT)

http://edition.cnn.com/2012/08/20/showbiz/obit-tony-scott/index.html

Los Angeles (CNN) -- Film director Tony Scott left notes in his car and office before plunging to his death from the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro, California, a Los Angeles County coroner official said Monday.

Scott, best known for the films "Top Gun" and "Beverly Hills Cop II," apparently committed suicide by jumping from the bridge about 12:30 p.m. Sunday, said Lt. Joe Bale of the coroner's office.

"There's nothing to indicate it is anything else at this time," Bale said.

A friend found a note from Scott, 68, in his Los Angeles office, apparently written for his family, Deputy Chief Coroner Ed Winter said. A note left in his car on the bridge including names and phone numbers for his family was probably intended for officials investigating his death, Winter said.

The bridge spans Los Angeles Harbor, connecting San Pedro and Terminal Island.

A passerby who saw Scott jump from the bridge called 911, according to a statement released by the coroner's office late Sunday.

"The L.A. Port Police recovered the body from the water," the statement said.

Born Anthony D.L. Scott in North Shields, England, in 1944, he got his start as a teenager in front of the camera, starring in his older brother Ridley Scott's film "Boy and Bicycle." In 1995, the two joined forces to create the production company Scott Free Productions.

Simon Halls, a publicist who represents the Scott brothers, confirmed the death.

Tony Scott became a household name in 1986 as director of the mega-hit "Top Gun," starring Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis. He followed that up with the Eddie Murphy action movie "Beverly Hills Cop II" in 1987.

Both Cruise and Murphy released statements mourning the loss of their director.

"Tony was my dear friend and I will really miss him. He was a creative visionary whose mark on film is immeasurable. My deepest sorrow and thoughts are with his family at this time," said Cruise.

Murphy described Scott as a "wonderful collaborator" and said he will be missed.

Pepperdine University film professor Craig Detweiler called Scott "the supreme stylist" who "operated at the top of his game throughout each decade of his career."

"He was able to make the thinnest of premises into something pulse-pounding and exciting and he's almost a filmmaker as a magician who found drama amidst almost contrived situations," Detweiler said.

Taking his own life by jumping from a bridge is "a high-adrenaline ending, which matches his dramatic style," he said.

"He put Denzel Washington, Will Smith and Tom Cruise in movies where one man overcomes all struggles, triumphs over struggles, and yet it appears he was not able to write that story for himself," he said.

Actor Michael Rapaport, who was directed by Scott in "True Romance," took to Twitter to praise the director. In one post, he said there hasn't been a day since the movie was released in 1993 that someone doesn't tell him how much they loved the film.

"Tony Scott was a sweet enthusiastic & lovin man," Rapaport wrote.

Scott cemented his reputation for big-budget action films with 1990's "Revenge" starring Kevin Costner and "Days of Thunder" with Cruise. In 1998, he directed "Enemy of the State" with Will Smith and Gene Hackman.

It was on the set of "Days of Thunder" where Scott met actress Donna Wilson, whom he married in 1994. They had twin sons.

Reaction to Scott's death poured out Monday, with directors, actors and fans mourning the news.

"Being around you was always the ultimate experience -- intensity, vitality and celebration. Pure rock and roll and great cigars. Your warmth and generosity was palpable to all us. You treated everyone with care and respect," said actor Edgar Ramirez, who starred in Scott's 2005 film, "Domino."

"You always focused on the subtleties, taking the best out of us. I am proud to be your friend, and although I won't be seeing you for a while, you will live on in the laughter of our memories of you."

"Tony Scott as a friend and a mentor was irreplaceable. Tone, wherever you are, I love you man. RIP," director and producer Joe Carnahan said on Twitter.

Carnahan recounted how when his movie "The Grey" was finished, Scott called to tell him he had seen it. He told Carnahan it was great and not to allow anybody to change anything in it.

"Tony always sent personal, handwritten notes & always drew a cartoon caricature of himself, smoking a cigar, with his hat colored in red," Carnahan said in a post.

Scott directed his last film, the train thriller "Unstoppable" starring Denzel Washington, in 2010.

"For me, it was the most challenging movie of my life, and the most dangerous because I'm shooting 90 percent of the movie on a train that is running between 50 and 70 mph," Scott told CNN at the time.

Scott's reputation in Hollywood was low-key.

"He wasn't a showy kind of guy," longtime entertainment reporter Jeanne Wolf told CNN.

Scott was often seen sporting a frayed, faded red ball cap on the movie sets and at red carpet premieres.

The ball cap, Wolf said, was his trademark.

While Scott's movies garnered box office success, they never received the acclaim that generated Academy Award nominations.

In 2002, the Scott brothers won an Emmy for the television movie "The Gathering Storm."

Scott also was nominated for the Emmy as a producer for the CBS drama "The Good Wife."

"So very, very sorry to hear of the death of Tony Scott," actress Martha Plimpton, who appeared in "The Good Wife," said via Twitter.

Among his last projects was serving as an executive producer on the TV miniseries "Coma," which is due to air this year.

Michael Clarke Duncan of ‘Green Mile’ fame dies at 54

By Meriah Doty | Movie Talk – Mon, Sep 3, 2012 7:06 PM EDT

Michael Clarke Duncan -- best known for his Oscar-nominated role as a death row inmate who possessed magical healing powers in the 1999 film "The Green Mile" -- died on Monday at the age of 54, according to his fiancee Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth.

Duncan had been in a Los Angeles hospital since July 13 following a heart attack and died on Monday morning after close to two months of treatment.

At 6-feet, 5-inches tall and approximately 300 pounds, Duncan was nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for his role as gentle giant prisoner John Coffey in "The Green Mile," also starring Tom Hanks. Duncan won the role, in part, due to a recommendation by Bruce Willis, who he worked with on 1998's "Armageddon." Duncan went on to appear with Willis in three more films -- "Breakfast of Champions," "The Whole Nine Yards" and "Sin City."

Before he broke into acting, Duncan worked as a bodyguard for stars including Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Jamie Foxx, LL Cool J, and The Notorious B.I.G. -- whose 1997 death prompted him to quit that line of work.

Duncan's career spanned three decades with roles in other television and film titles including "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," "Married with Children," "The Jamie Foxx Show," "Living Single," "Bulworth," "Arli$$," "A Night at the Roxbury," "Sister, Sister," "Planet of the Apes," "CSI: NY," "Talladega Nights," "Two and a Half Men," "Bones," and most recently "The Challenger," which is yet to be released.

Duncan was a prolific voice-over actor as well, lending his rumbling baritone to animated characters in "Kung Fu Panda," "King of the Hill," "Family Guy," "Green Lantern," and many others. The African American actor also played The Kingpin in 2003's "Daredevil," starring Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner -- a notable achievement seeing as the character in the original comics, on which the film is based, was always depicted as being white.

"The Green Mile" was nominated for four Oscars in 2000 and won 15 other awards including best supporting actor trophies for Duncan from the Black Reel Awards and the Broadcast Film Critics Association Awards.

Born and raised on Chicago's South Side and brought up by a single mother, Duncan is said to have resisted temptations of drugs and alcohol, instead focusing on school and acting. He worked digging ditches after attending community college, according to his biography on IMDb.com, then quit his job and moved to Hollywood, launching his acting career while in his thirties. More than three years ago, Duncan is said to have become a vegetarian, and appeared in a video for animal rights organization PETA earlier this year.

Many of you are probably too young to remember this, but arguably one of the most talented soft pxxn actresses has passed away - Sylvia Kristel

Yes, I'm dat old to remember Lady Chatterley's Lover, which was way too sexy for its time and probably remains an under-rated classic.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/film/film-news/9622355/Sylvia-Kristel-the-princess-of-parlour-porn.html

I remember catching Lady Chatterley's Lover on video tape later in life (separate topic, but also remembering video tapes) and the naked Nicholas Clay at that time was one of the jerk-off moments.

MediaCorp veteran artiste Huang Wenyong's disappearance has sparked speculation in Singapore's showbiz circle.

His last public appearance was at MediaCorp's 30th Drama Anniversary Show in November 2012.

Viewers were shocked to see that he had lost a lot of weight and looked gaunt.

Since then, apart from hosting an afternoon variety show, he has virtually disappeared entirely from the limelight.

Huang has remained uncontactable since the variety show ended last week.

Sources at MediaCorp say he has been down with a viral attack and is lying low to recuperate.

His disappearance is uncharacteristic and has sparked widespread speculation.
