Is that even an excuse for not going for mass testing? At the barest minimum, we can still detect more of those who are asymptomatic but are still infected to reduce the spread of the virus. Finding the infected people and treating them will make the virus go away; social distancing and keeping people at home and not doing anything more will not make the virus go away miraculously. As for those who were not tested positive the first round, it might be because they were really not infected then, and subsequent rounds of further testings would be able to keep reducing the figures more and more. However, the case of the girl above who was tested negative even with her developed symptoms is really casting doubts on the validity of the test kits. So the question now is not even the effectiveness of mass testings in rooting out the virus. The question now is the effectiveness of the test kits which seems to be giving all the wrong results. Guest Guest
To add on regarding the testing, you never know at what point you get infected, look at Hero's bar case, the ang moh went to the bar on the 10th, the others went like 3-4 days later and got the virus. The church goer just sat on the same seat as the wuhan couple later in the day and she got infected. So imagine if you get tested today -ve, tomorrow you happen to touch on a surface and get infected then it'll render the original test pointless. lonelyglobe
Fear is growing at a dormitory designated as an isolation area because of an infection cluster, with workers saying they do not have masks, and are living in unsanitary and crowded conditions. At least six workers at the S11 Dormitory @ Punggol, where there are 63 confirmed cases of Covid-19, told The Straits Times that the rooms are infested with cockroaches and toilets are overflowing. Workers have to queue for food with no social distancing measures to keep them apart. What happens? Are this our golden standard for dormitory? Are the minister of manpower / environment aware of this? If yes, why no actions taken? If no, how come don't know? Sitting in air-con office for too long? What is the dormitory manager/housekeeper doing? If conditions is that bad, what is the point of isolating inside there, use brain please, u know, BRAiN. People are understandably anxious & fearful, but there is no need to panic — Singapore has ample supplies. Instead, let us remain united & resolute, stay calm & carry on with our lives" Look at the comments written by everyone as early as 8 Feb. The writings were already on the walls then. I particularly like this one: Cheekunn @Cheekuan7 Feb 9 Replying to @leehsienloong that sounds familiar. two weeks before in China, the authority expressed the same confidence

"There are many cockroaches in the kitchen and also in our rooms. The urinals in the toilets are overflowing with urine and the workers step on the urine and then walk to their rooms," said Indian national Venkate S.H., 34. "Today, one cleaner went to the toilet and just sprayed water and left. He didn't use any Dettol and also did not dispose of the trash, which has been around for two days. "Empty food boxes are piled up on the rubbish bins and these bins are very near our rooms." Mr Venkate said officers from the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) visited the dormitory last Saturday night and, at around 9pm, one announced that the dormitory would be fully locked down, with no one allowed to leave the premises.“ https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/manpower/workers-describe-crowded-cramped-living-conditions?utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=STFB&utm_source=Facebook#Echobox=1586130193

Guest Guest
Does this looks like a place where people are serving "isolation", or does this look more like a place to "incubate" the virus for further release into the community when the 14 days period is over? The last person to be infected in a crowd like this, will not be on the first day of the 14-day isolation itself. The last person to be infected might just be infected on the 14th day just before they are all released. And that last person can remain asymptomatic for the next few days while he goes about running his personal errands like buying his favorite curry at some grocery shop and going for take-outs at his usual hawker center all around Singapore. But if these guys are to be isolated too long, we might see another 2013 Little India riot happening ...and this time with more than just 300 people involved. This is almost a disaster waiting to happen.

Never mind, SG police force very efficient and experienced in handling riots, we should worry more if the lock down continues, SG already so boring even before lock down, like that won't die from the virus but will die from boredom leh. .
