lonelyglobe
SINGAPORE - Singapore reported 142 cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday (April 8), a record high, said the Ministry of Health (MOH) in its daily update. Of these, 140 are local cases and two are imported. They bring the total number of cases here to 1,623. Among the local cases, links to existing clusters have been established for 55 cases, of which 40 are linked to clusters at foreign worker dormitories. There are 13 cases that have been linked to other cases. Contact tracing is being done for the remaining 72 cases. There was also a seventh death linked to the disease. A 32-year-old Indian national who had been swabbed on April 7 and advised to stay home pending test results died on April 8 at his residence. He was confirmed to have Covid-19 after his death. His chest X-ray indicated he did not have pneumonia and investigations are ongoing to establish the cause of death. MOH also said that 29 patients were discharged on Wednesday. To date, a total of 406 cases have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. Of the 669 confirmed cases still in hospital, most are stable or improving, with 29 in critical condition in the intensive care unit. Six have died from complications due to Covid-19 infection. There is not sufficient supply of masks for everyone, every day in any country in the world to supply everyone at every time for every person to wear a mask. Simple as that! Safety to hospital and healthcare staff must come in first priority. these people need the mask to upkeep health system and services. Look at Indonesia: 24 hospital nurses already infected, some died on Covid19. Guess why the SG Government is now distribution reusable face masks??? A German research just came out and said, the mask should be compulsory for Covid19 carriers, but the problem is the period for not having symptoms but already being infectious is quite long for this virus ( 3 to 14 days). The researchers from Robert Koch Institute said, distancing is more important and set the distancing space at 2m. the virus seems to be spread not only when caughing but while speaking too according this research paper (just out 2 days ago). And to avoid being with infected persons at near distance in a confined room. SG Gov should increase the distance for safe distancing. On the hoarding: Was it required? Wasn't it Kiasu? You don't need to eat Durian every day. So, if supply of Durian run out, what is the problem, is it life threatening??? These hoarders are silly people, later they throw the food because don't manage to eat and expired. So far no hoarding of anything had been required! The rice shelves were empty because Kiasu Singaporean bought more stock than usual. Fruits and veggie from Malaysia still coming in. No problem so far. In France they have given warning to people not just to eat canned food and go and buy more fruits and vegetable due to health reasons. The supermarket are throwing plenty of perishable food (fruits, veggie) because people buy canned food mostly.

Why not wearing a mask is not a criminal offence: Because you must ascertain the supply of masks for everyone (which Government can't). And there are people who don't have the resources to buy masks. Don't confuse the warning for safe distancing and the 3000 people from the article. The warning was not given because the people don't wear masks but because the shops or the patrons did not keep sufficient distance. At least the Gov give warning first. What do you think if they come with a 5,000 fine directly. Just keep 1.5 m distance in any place, queue, etc. Many people still are going out with no real excuse. The message is "Stay at home",. The topic started about wearing masks. The last sentence is: SG Gov should increase the distance for safe distancing. Reading this you don't have a clue what the research result was? For clarification I reposted the part and amended it for these here who have difficulties in understanding simple matters: A German research just came out and said, the mask should be compulsory for Covid19 carriers, but the problem is the period for not having symptoms but already being infectious is quite long for this virus ( 3 to 14 days). The researchers from Robert Koch Institute said, distancing is more important than imposing to wear a mask and set the distancing space at 2m. the virus seems to be spread not only when caughing but while speaking too according this research paper (just out 2 days ago). And to avoid being with infected persons at near distance in a confined room. SG Gov should increase the distance for safe distancing. Meaning it is more important to keep safe distance as it will reduce the potential or risk of droplets or virus parts to enter your mouth or nose. The distance to another person of more than 2m is sufficient to keep the virus at bay and not to enter the lungs. The researchers found evidence for the virus not only to be spread by coughing but even during an infected person just speaking, meaning an infected person speaking emits Covid19 particles too and these may enter the mouth and lungs. (This is not a joke ok). (Maybe Gov should disallow speaking from now onwards?)

Guest new measures
too late. Sometimes I get this feeling the Ministers read Blowing Wind. Haven't we been talking about public transport and the people squeeze so man times... CNA: COVID-19: Additional safe distancing measures implemented on public transport 09 Apr 2020 11:00AM SINGAPORE: Additional safe distancing measures will be implemented on public transport networks as Singapore steps up efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19. This comes after the elevated safe distancing measures set by the multi-ministry task force were implemented on Tuesday (Apr 7), the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said in a news release on Thursday. Safe distancing stickers will be progressively rolled out on all trains, train stations, buses, bus stops and bus interchanges to mark out spaces and seats that should be avoided by commuters. (Photo: CNA Reader) LTA is also working with Public Transport Operators to progressively deploy Transport Ambassadors, who will support the implementation of safe distancing measures in public transport networks. These ambassadors will work with LTA enforcement officers and bus captains to ensure that commuters comply with the measures, such as limiting the number of commuters who can enter train stations and buses. Safe distancing stickers will be used to help commuters space out on trains and buses. (Photo: Land Transport Authority) Thermal scanners will be deployed at selected MRT stations to screen commuters before they enter the stations. "Commuters who have been picked up by the scanners as having a fever will not be allowed to enter the station and be asked to seek medical attention at the nearest clinic(s) immediately," said LTA. "For a start, these thermal scanners have been deployed at Serangoon and Tiong Bahru MRT stations." The authority has also reminded the public to be socially responsible during the circuit breaker period and to avoid unnecessary commutes. “Those who need to travel for essential purposes should put on a reusable face mask when travelling in the public transport network, and refrain from crowding,” LTA added. “They should also follow the instructions given by Transport Ambassadors and LTA’s enforcement officers so that we can preserve the elevated measures during this challenging period.” The circuit breaker period started on Tuesday and is set to last until May 4. During this period, members of the public have been advised to stay home and avoid going out except for essential trips. During this period, schools and workplaces have been ordered to shut down, except those deemed to be providing essential services.
leo yok loo
1 hour ago, Guest repeated said: Why not wearing a mask is not a criminal offence: Because you must ascertain the supply of masks for everyone (which Government can't). This is not the time for strolling through shopping malls. I tot our minister said everything (mask, food, water, fighter jet, money ...except FT) is enough???
