Guest Stay distanced work

It depends. ha ha.

We have a mix. Some staff is coming to office, all of them have their own rooms and glass partitions.

For the staff in the "main office with open concept" there are 2 only placed at diagonal directions. They sit around 8m apart.

Other staff such as accounting, invoicing, sourcing, marketing, not being necessarily required to be at office all the time etc, work from home and visit the office after 6.30pm to collect new work twice a week.

Some staff with kids worked from home during the school holidays only bumped to office when appropriate.

We do not interact by close contact at the moment, meaning, if there is something, the staff in the office will call or email but not walk to the desk of supervisor, inferior staff to clarify or discuss things. If required the staff will scan a document and send per Email and then have a call. We even try to avoid sharing documents on the same day.

The staff does go for lunch separate, we don't go for lunch together, after some days most staff started to bring food to the office for lunch, but will eat outside (our office has some pantries from the office building(. We try to avoid direct contact as much as possible.

The only problem we have, our office cleaner for cups and pantry did not return from her Malaysia trip and she will remain in Malaysia for the time being.

Everybody cleans his/her own cups and plates for the moment.

Most staff brought their own kettle, tea coffee etc) and we avoid using the pantry area.

No cookie sharing sessions at the moment.

If one staff intends to walk to somewhere, then one will wait, for not coming into close contact.

We are fortunate for every area in our office having full glass partitions. When you stand up from your desk, you can see, another staff is just going to toilet, then you wait and walk out some seconds later.

To keep the spirit up, we do some video conferencing twice a day and to talk on work matters and some out of work matters. This includes the homeworkers.

We still talk to each other in the office but from distance, less often then previous.

Workload has gone down extremely.

The only thing that requires more input is scanning of documents or writing email on matters, something you had discussed face to face before Covid or for documents just handed to your colleague.

Actually, we work on a "Stay Distanced Work Notice" for some time now.

But this might be to the office design at my office and not every office would be able to practise such "distancing" during work.

Guest Gossip vs Virus

The fucking shit staffs always going lunch together should stop immediately.  Such herd mentality needs to stop to prevent, not just gossip, but spread of deadly virus.

Still eating lunch with colleagues to complain about boss because boss sucks.

Speaking loudly, suffers softly. Smiles so wide, cuts unseen inside.

Bitin' the bullet, but never kick the bucket.
