Definitely, we did not managed well from the start and the dormitory mess is just a last blow to everything, in fact, if we did managed well,  we don't even need a lock down,  like Taiwan,  life still goes on as per normal.

 

The economic impact of this lock down is devastating, business that closed down and staff that were retrenched. What is even more worrying is that we see the ability of our so called 4G leaders,  some no foresight, some no common sense but came with defensive and arrogant attitude.

Questioning the logic behind some of the Government’s COVID-19 policies, a medical doctor has asserted that there is a lot of discontentment on the ground about the “inconsistent” way the authorities have been handling the coronavirus pandemic.

Dr Siew Tuck Wah, who runs the Radium Medical Aesthetics clinic, said:“It is not an exaggeration to say that there is growing, palpable discontent and frustration on the ground, about how the COVID-19 crisis is being handled. Much of the anger is directed at the inconsistencies in policies.”

 

Questioning why the Government’s virus prevention restrictions allow one thing but bars another even though the result seems to be the same, Dr Siew wrote in a Facebook post on Saturday (6 June):

“On one hand, we want to ensure safe distancing, so we cannot meet friends. Yet on the other hand, crowds are allowed on public transport. Pictures of Minister Khaw removing safe distancing stickers from the MRT certainly do not help. The message that is sent out is inconsistent and often confusing. “Supermarkets like NTUC are crowded, and yet budget stores where we get our toothpaste and other essentials are not allowed to open. You cannot blame us for wondering how policymakers decide which establishments can open and which cannot. “We want to reopen the economy slowly for safety reasons, therefore only some services can resume after the circuit breaker. Restaurants still cannot open to diners; beauty and wellness services remain closed. The reason, we are told, is that beauty services are not essential. “Yet, on the other hand, people are allowed to spend three hours in a hair salon getting their hair dyed and permed. Candy stores are allowed to open. 50% discounts are abound in some stores so everyone is rushing to buy chocolates. What is the logic in that? “Schools have reopened. School children are now congregating back at schools. Yet we are not even allowed to see our relatives. I dearly miss my niece and nephew, my auntie, my close friends whom I consider my family. I cannot bear a situation where we are penalized and kept apart even longer because clusters start breaking out from schools and on public transport. “Meanwhile, our parents cannot come to our homes, but we can visit them, 2 at a time. What is the logic in that? And what difference does it make whether it is 2 people or 4 people if we all come from the same household?”

Dr Siew added that Singapore was proud about not having to lock itself down when the coronavirus pandemic first spread here but is now reluctant to fully reopen. Asserting that an extended lockdown further impacts livelihoods, he wrote:

“We prided ourselves so much in not having to shut down the economy when COVID-19 first started in January to March 2020. However, we now seem to have swung the other way. We all wish we had more time to spare, but the economy cannot wait. “Singapore is bracing for it’s worst-ever recession, and many companies are expected to close. My friend who runs a buffet restaurant told me that four years of hard work has gone down the drain in just three months.”

While Dr Siew understands that policymakers have to make tough decisions quickly in response to the evolving COVID situation, he urged Government leaders to ensure that policies are consistent and fair. He wrote:

“We know that the situation is evolving rapidly. We understand how difficult the situation is for policymakers to have to make split-second decisions. We understand that it is a difficult line to toe. Whatever policy is made, there will be people on the other side who are unhappy. However, policy makers need to give more thought into making policies which are consistent and fair.”

Singapore was once lauded for having policies that were dubbed as the gold standard for virus prevention in the international community – until the COVID situation spun out of control when it started spreading like wildfire in the foreign worker dormitories. The nation now has close to 40,000 total COVID cases and 25 disease-linked fatalities.

Referring to the pride and trust Singaporeans had earlier in the year when the Government handled the virus outbreak decisively, Dr Siew said that the confidence people have in their leaders are gradually eroding due to confusing new restrictions.

Asserting that all Singaporeans are united in wanting the nation to emerge from the COVID-19 crisis as safely as possible, Dr Siew said: “We stand united, and in solidarity. However bit by bit, our confidence is being eroded. I wish so much, to once again feel the immense pride of being a Singaporean, as I did at the beginning of the year, when Singapore handled the crisis swiftly and decisively.”

The doctor’s views quickly went viral, accumulating over 1,200 reactions and close to 700 shares on social media.

Two significant mistakes made,  first is to pay for all covid cases regardless of local or foreigners at the beginning stage, only when they realised rich Indonesian tycoons coming in with private jet,  then they decided to charge foreigners.  Second, when there is a sharp rise in locals coming back from oversea,  there is nothing done to discourage that until at a later stage, they decide to let them pay for their own full medical cost.

 

The rich ones in Beijing will be flying out to other countries just like what happen in Wuhan before....and guess where Will they be going,  one of their favourites will be SG.

Unfortunately, there are some truth in that but not all oppositions are weak,  the main issue is most sporean don't need opposition. I have been casting "void" votes as I don't agreed with the current ones but I also think the other contester simply cannot make it, let's put it this way,  if someone can't do a good job,  would u still want to pay him a million dollars?

I think u guys got misunderstanding of new rules, u must read the small print, don't jump on conclusion:

 

The Phase 2 allow for

 

Phase Two will see the resumption of most activities, subject to the following safe distancing principles:

  a.  As a default, measures should be put in place to ensure that individuals maintain safe distancing of at least one metre at all times.

 

- Small-group social gatherings of up to five people can resume. Households can receive up to five visitors at any one time. And with no mixing between group.

SAFE DISTANCING RULES

- People should maintain a safe distance of at least 1 metre at all times.

- Where this is not feasible, safe distancing should be maintained between groups, with each group having no more than five people. Groups must maintain 1m distance from each other.

 

I think the mask wearing still a requirement for phase 2. oh yes:

 

- Masks must continue to be worn when people are outside and at workplaces.  Failure to do so could see you being fined $300. Repeat offenders will face higher fines or prosecution in court.  

 

 

U can go restoran or kopi with 5 person max at one table but each must have distance 1m at all times. Same for gathering at home.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) announced on June 13 that a 15-year-old student from St Anthony's Canossian Secondary was among the 347 newly confirmed cases.

 

 

The student is Case 39,893 and was tested as part of MOH's proactive testing of school students above the age of 12 diagnosed with acute respiratory infection (ARI) at first presentation to a doctor.

 

Her serological test result has come back positive, which is indicative of a past infection.

 

The epidemiological evidence suggests that she was likely to have been infected during the Circuit Breaker period, and not after school re-opening.

 

 

School disinfected & students quarantined

 

The Ministry of Education (MOE) has issued a statement confirming that Case 39,893 is a Secondary 4 student from St Anthony's Canossian Secondary School.

 

Her form teacher spotted that she was unwell during the daily visual and temperature screening exercise on June 10.

 

The student was then immediately isolated and sent home before later testing positive for Covid-19.

 

The 47 students and 12 staff who had been in close contact with the affected student have been put on Leave of Absence by MOE or Home Quarantine Order by MOH. They are currently well.

 

All 47 students have been tested for COVID-19, and all tests have come back negative.

 

The school premises have been cleaned and disinfected, and in-school lessons for Secondary 1, 2, 4 and 5 students will go on as usual tomorrow, based on weekly rotation schedule that was previously announced.

Confusing leh... Is the table reserved for a group of 5 only? So if a stranger seat in a one of the unmarked seat,  can another stranger occupy the other unmarked seat?  Then why not just marked 1 and leave 1 unmarked.
