Wow looks like which ever moron redesigning the entry system had decided to go backwards. Foresee long queues and hold up at entry point when multiple folks try to get in at the same time. And they going to station staff at the entrance too. So it it going to be one staff or multiples?
As good as going back to good old days where a ticketing box office issues ticket as u enter.

Yes, seems like ActiveSG is moving backwards when going digital!

Perhaps, it’s good for the senior workers. Work opportunities.
My current pass will expire on 13 Aug. Just about the right time to use the (dreadful) new system. Hope it’s glitch-free.

Indeed quiet sad that their options for correcting the discrepancy of people who had abused the systems and got away with shortchanging them was this. 😂 than they might as well just go back to old ticketing system.
likewise with previous post, we all had our embedded funds in ActiveSG frozen for over 2 mths while they upgrade.

Having staff man the entries is supposedly a temporary measure while they upgrade the turnstiles (which scans the current App only).  Hopefully does not take too long.

Sighh anyway public pools nowadays seem more to serve kids training and water polo training than working adults during the peak timings.

Perhaps intent is for working Sporean males who wanna exert pent up energy to be catered for by  Safra.

Today, that pool should be ok.
Just finished my swim at KBSC. Relatively empty until a group of 5-6 of a certain nationality came in. As expected, they love to do things differently from the norm. Instead of swimming the length of the pool, they swim width wise.
Lifeguard blew whistle and signalled them to swim length wise. Rolled eyes moment.

I think because many people abused on concession passes and hence the backward?

If you wrapped a huge white towel and dropped them just by the side of the pool and jump in, you definitely get called out for wearing your boxer styled undies into the pool. 🤭 so obvious everyone had been eyeing you as you walk over in your huge white towel.

and what is it with guys doing back stroke in the lap zone? 🤨 holding up traffic as you can’t see where you heading and not swimming straight. Due to your slowness, every lap swimmers had to carefully overtake you.

than there are the annoying guys who hang their dripping wet trunks over the hook above someone else’s belongings. Hey, birdbrain hang it over your own belongings if you don’t know how to at least wring dry! 😤

Lifeguard was not doing anything about it?!  Tsk tsk.
About that guy who hung his dripping wet swimwear over someone’s belonging, that’s really ‘meh.’
Some people ah… really leave us speechless

Lifeguard didn’t do anything about which? The guy in boxer undies? 😛 he got call out by the guard immediately. Others just waiting to watch the fun. Saw one even dip himself under the water to see  😏 while the guard was explaining to the guy. 🤣

The back stroker was going in ‘circle’ so he didn’t break the rule, so to speak. Except for the hogging lane but that’s a bit grey area. So was left there to ‘distract’ the other lap persons 😞

yah that ‘meh’ guy. Really lo. I moved my belongings and gave him the stare. He obviously got it!! 😠 cos he moved his trunks. Cow brain lah, my bag already got dripped and the dry bench no longer dry.

I ever seen a 30+ guy wearing g-string, swimming at clementi adult  swimming pool without being stopped by lifeguard; he looked puzzled why ppl keep staring at him. And a 60+ man wearing thong at bukit batok swimming pool but was stopped by lifeguard due to aunties' complaint for unsightly presentation. Also, I once saw a gut plunged into queenstown swimming pool and stripped naked below the water for my viewing ... interesting pool cultural shock

Yes. Same activeSG pool, different lifeguard, different way of handling. Also different situation result in different outcome.
Pools in HK, and some pools in Taiwan allow such attire.

Rainy Friday which turns out to be a boon situation for me. No school swimming lesson and the pool is empty.
Using ActiveSG+ app today (first since it’s official launch to get SwimPass), there was no one at the desk in front of the pool turnstiles. End up, I had to show my pass to the guy manning the entrance to the gym. He has to take my phone and zoomed in the screen and put it so near to his eyes to look at the fine wordings on the SwimPass.
So nervous that he might clicked on to some pages that he should not be looking. 😅

Although the pool was empty (just after the rain), there was something brewing in the changing room. Hope the 2 cruisers had their happy endings together after I left the changing room. 😝

What a fabulous Friday!

Duno about you guys but one thing that just irks me is when people put their sports shoes on the changing room bench where people's asses would be sitting whilst they change. That seriously just makes my eyes auto-roll...not as if their sports shoes are unused ones n hell knows where they've been stepping...= =lll

Now I’m curious about Clementi! Should I unearth my gstrings and thongs for some airing and wetting there? 🤭🤣

Bishan and Delta confirm cannot wear skimpy anymore. 😒

By right, ActiveSG pools do not allow thongs. However, this rule is kind of flex from pool to pool and from lifeguard to lifeguard. Sometimes, the lifeguard does not see the person in thongs. So, that person is spared. Even w the same lifeguard, his decision could vary, depending on who is with him at the moment and the condition of the pool.

Thus, the golden rule is, just enjoy the moment while it lasts. No complain, no feedback required. 😁

p/s: @HC-B Remember to jio if you are "thonging". 😆

Hi, anyone has any experiences wearing a swim thong to public pool?

Care to share ur experiences?

Thinking of doing so.

Not allowed at ActiveSG pools.
If the lifeguard is on the call that day, he will yelled at the top of his voice to ask you to get out of the pool and change into another swimwear.
Share w us your story when you do that. Thank you.

The most hos I saw in katong was very thin strip of cloth on the sides (thigh), small middle area, and enough behind cover butthole but not whole butt.

Eg today there was a guy in USA stripes trunks

Friday evening (6 Sep) is the start of a swim horror weekend at ActiveSG pools if you are staying at the East side.

1.  Kallang Basin pool: Fat-boy (I do not mean to body shame anyone. My apology if i do) water-polo and pinoy polo trainings starts from 7pm onwards. With only 1 big pool in operation, that shuts public out. No. I don't want to squeeze with everyone (adults and kids) to swim in the remaining <1/3 of the pool.

2. I called up Katong pool and the lady in the office told me there was water polo training in the deep pool. That means everyone else will swim in the teaching pool, together w the kids having their Friday siesta w their parents.

3. Geylang East pool also has water polo training in the big pool on Friday evening. Even if there is no water polo training, I will avoid this pool in the evening because it's always crowded from 6pm right up till 9pm, in both big pool and training pool. Lots of "funny characters" like someone will bob up and down in the middle of the pool while others are trying to do their lap swimming, love-birds gather around the periphery of the pool catching up on what's happening in each other's life for that week, etc.

4. That leaves Jalan Besar pool. I arrived at 8:00pm. Gosh.....I saw at least 20ppl gathered on the right side of the pool complex. Looks like life saving class/exam going on. At least 4 lanes were reserved by them. On the left side, kids are having swimming lesson, taking up another 3 lanes. The remaining 3 lanes were for public use. I saw many people gathering at the end of the pool but not many were swimming. Over in the teaching pool, it looked like some kind of family gathering going on. A family of 6 members were splashing water and causing chaos in the pool. There was another family of 4-5 ppl there too. There was a group of 3 learning to swim w a swimming instructors. There are also other younger pool users w their dads and friends either playing water or trying to swim.

I stood there and monitored for 10min and I left the pool. Gave up! Time to feed my tummy.

I hope there will not be any life saving class/exam going on tomorrow. Keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed, while trying to come up w a PlanB.

Good night.

I swam at Kallang Basin pool today at 5.30pm and the water polo training haven't start yet. The water polo training only start at 7pm. Half of the competition pool was reserved for synchronised swimming and some other training.

@bluerunner gosh I feel u bro. When I was swimming evening it was not that bad still, occasional polos or fin swimmer training. Diving perhaps but still have space to lap except occasional obstacle course manoeuvre when clown who swim zigzag style.
These days late morning or afternoon crowd definitely much better than late evenings or evening crowds. Avoid weekends these day and rather take walks/run in parks.
Safra TY is great that they line the lanes with floaters and so far my encounter afternoon crowds are good. Occasionally have to wait abit when each lane are already occupied by two swimmers. I notice they don’t linger and most just lap and leave so far so good.
Safra MF late afternoon seems to have lesser crowd as compared with lunch crowd. So slightly after lunch is good for lapping. A pity Safra PG being so huge doesn’t have a pool. And strangely have ‘locked’ public shower area in the basement 😛

anyway I swim before at Jalan Besar when I was working nearby but usually not as late, perhaps after 6. Still okay crowd. Those kind where seems crowded yet able to lap. Don’t know if know what I mean. So perhaps have to work out your work timing to swim at a slightly earlier time frame.

Good if we can consolidate info here for reference so we do not go all the way to a pool in vain.

1) Katong, Geylang, Kallang pools used for training from 7 pm onwards (only half pool left so cannot swim full length).

Any other public pools used for training?  Can add on.

2) Alternative: Safra Pools for those with Safra memberships.

This was my post back in July 2024 about KB pool (Kallang Basin pool thread):

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Speaking of increased crowd, I took a photo of the pool availability schedule (this was in July) and concluded that:

1) if you wish to swim on weekdays, do it before 5pm;

2) if you wish to swim on Saturday, do it between 2 and 7pm;

3) if you wish to swim on Sunday, do it after 5pm.

This is because of the Pacer and Aegir programmes that take up half of the competition pool (I believe it's the half closer to the PIE cuz of the swim lanes).

Saturday: 2-7pm is no longer true. Only less than 1/3 of the pool is open to public, right?

It’s Friday again. The regular pools I frequent will have school swimming program until 12:30pm, while the other one will be crowded until about 1pm. So, I have decided to visit a relatively low profile one.
Surprisingly, there were a few interesting characters there. Nothing much happened. Just exchanging eye contact and visual checking each other out. Hehe.
Have a great weekend ahead. Cheers.

@bluerunner if u going after 130pm, try Safra TY or MF. If within your vicinity or schedule. Was there, pretty quiet and good to lap.
