Have you considered volunteering for friendly organisations?

Do you have any to recommend? :)

Before you consider this agency, look very carefully at the website. It has a very tiny number of members and there is a very high membership fee - A$7,500. Although it does not say so in the article, I suspect there are very few if any members in Singapore. Seems this is more like an ad.

"The company’s client list just hit a new high of 2,648 guys. But it’s not cheap, and it’s only for men seeking long-term monogamy. And, for the most part, children.

"Sign-up costs a once-off $7,500, so it’s mostly aimed at, but not limited to, professionals and business men. 'Guys have told me they’d spend that on 20 wrong dates. And we don’t call it a success until they’ve been together a year.'"

Question: how many members here regularly spend an average of S$365 on one date?

The website says there are members in Singapore and Hong Kong. I am curious to know how many in each. My guess is not more than a handful at most. But I have written to them to ask.

Ah, thank you :)

I wrote to the Beau Brummell people in Australia. I said I was considering joining but given that I have lived in Asia for decades I am only interested in Asian men. I said I noted they have members who live in Hong Kong and Singapore. I then asked them to give me an approximate number of members in each city and how many are Asian. Then I could decide if it was worthwhile joining.

I received an almost instant reply. Delighted you are interested in our services etc. blah blah! We would really like to set up a phone conversation with you so that we can give you more detail of our services. In other words, they did not want to answer my questions.

I responded again that I am only interested in Hong Kong and Singapore. Once I had that rough info I would be happy to chat with them. No reply yet, but I do not expect them to give me the specific info I requested. I suspect the number of their members in these two cities can probably be counted on one hand! I'll add more if and when I hear again from them.

You can't possibly be more technologically challenged than me.  Ask Greenliv out, he claims never disappoint.

Lol wilfgene, this is probably the 2nd time you are recommending me to others.

Why don't you ask me out? Or maybe I should take the initiative and present myself to you for closer inspection???

I have spoken too soon. I received another mail from the dating app. It again asks for a telephone conversation but does provide figures. That is certainly a many more than i had thought.

Quote

At the moment in Hong Kong there is 258 active clients and 372 in Singapore. It is a mixture of Asian and Caucasian clientele however it is predominantly Asian.

But in the great scheme of dating apps, a very insignificant amount. However, if you are into a long term partnership with children as part of the package, it may be worth contacting.

After this episode with WHO, you still buy these one single 'authoritative' sources?

'With children as part of the package' in Singapore?  Out of wedlock, from previous marriages or paedophilia?

Hey, thank you being enthusiastic on this. :)

i still have no confidence on this kind of match making services, especially it's from overseas.

At the same, glad that there are still people care about long term relationship.

In my opinion, matchmaking does not have to lead to a marriage, especially in gay relationship. If this applies, probably local match should also provide this service too. Do you agree?

But I think, people will say, we are still conservative, blah, blah... 😊

Well, another email from the dating site has arrived. This one says it really wants a conversation with me, but not to find out my requirements. They want to check that I fit their requirements!  To avoid future emails, I suppose I'll have to tell them I'm a 96 years old ex-fisherman with one leg originally from Vladivostock! 🤣

  • 1 year later...

Chatted with a closed friend in Taiwan, he has signed up membership for a gay matchmaker, was asking him how the member pool like, he told me that the matchmaker has 15,000 male members, that's really surprised me that there actually many are willing to settle down.

I thought this ad was mostly targeted at white folks based in Singapore and Hong Kong since there are significant populations, and there are several white gay folks here who are here mostly for work and only date other white guys. I do still believe their clients are almost all white though. Since Facebook cannot let you specify if you are white or Asian, they have to broadcast this ad to all who live in Singapore.
