As an American I think Harry and Meghan should go to Colombia – and stay there

6 August 2024

the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will finally depart from the USA and choose one of their far-flung destinations to settle in permanently. After all, they seem to have worn out their welcome in both the US and UK.

Make a google research, then you will see.

Please don't tell other people what to do or not to do. You're not the King of BW.

The ST has been regularly reporting on them. If Asia has no interest in them, why does the media COVER them in such extensively?

Asians follow the same interest in this media gossip, faming or shaming of Meghan and Harry as other nations...

Every move of both of them is covered in the Asian media.

Otherwise the media here or in Asia had totally ignored them.

But they don't do.

We Asians don't follow them around as the Americans did.The majority of M&H's PR teams are Americans, and the majority of their "friends" are affluent Americans who are well-connected among themselves, providing M&H with the oxygen it needs to flourish and survive, as well as the motivation to sow discourse within the couple's own family members.  If you want them out of America soil, vote for Donald Trump.

No evidence presented. This just seems to be your personal view.

If Asians had been totally disinterested in Meghan and Harry, they wouldn't report at all.

Straits Times doesn't report when the prince of Norway was caught drink driving or the Belgian Princess Astrid doing a charity visit to Botswana ...

If newspapers only reports things that people are interested in, they will be blank! The only reason why ST will bother publishing any news about those two ex-royal clowns is because they are making news in the West, and ST doesn't want to be left behind. Take a look at the stats here:

Top Posters In This Topic

4th highest number of post in 8 pages is only 7 posts. And the two top posters are both angmohs. Goes to show who cares, right?

But well, we do know some people here will twist and turn the facts anyway they want, don't we?

How silly is this as evidence?

It's worth nothing.

359 posts in total means the majority still Asians who posted here.

Get a life instead of your superfluous posts...

And are you expecting more Westerners to be reading and/or posting here in an Asian website, stuuuuuupid? The fact that the majority of the readers are Asian, and yet so few bother to post about this topic, just shows that NOBODY CARES about those two ex-royal clowns!

But of course, you live in your own universe, your own world, so you won't know.

Colombian security chief hits out at Prince Harry, Meghan Markle’s costs amid socio-economic crisis

A security official in Colombia has hit out at the exorbitant cost of providing safety for the Sussexes during their “faux royal” tour of the country.

This comment is good:

In Colombia, Harry and Meghan’s harmful ‘smoke and mirrors’ faux-statecraft

08/20/24

Here they go again. The duke and duchess of Sussex indulged in a splashy faux royal tour — and did so while King Charles III and his family are on annual summer holiday at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

Their four-day holiday in Colombia might have served the business and public relations interests of the Montecito couple well. But it risked doing great disservice to the foreign policy of the United Kingdom — and by extension that of the national security of the U.S.

Official royal tours, like U.S. presidential visits abroad, are intended to advance the foreign policy interests of the UK. Beyond high-level meetings and glitzy receptions, these high-stake diplomatic undertakings are measured by the bi-lateral nation-to-nation deliverables expected of them — and of their lasting positive impact.

Harry and Meghan could not deliver that.

Other than D-list celebrity, the oft-whinging duo had nothing to offer Bogotá long-term. Photo-ops, media hype and sugary goodwill are fleeting. Absent Whitehall purpose and oversight, there is little to be gained by either Colombia or the UK.

Sussex Inc., however, arguably had a lot to gain, and therein lies the rub. Not-so-private worldwide tours masquerading as royal tours are undoubtedly valuable from a business branding and marketing standpoint.

Cashing in on faux-statecraft really should be beyond the pale for the son and daughter-in-law of the reigning king of England and head of the Commonwealth of Nations. Harry, especially, knows better. His grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, set the global gold-standard for duty, country and public service.

The trip was justified as part of an effort by Harry and Meghan to promote mental health and “safeguard young people from online harm.” Laudable on the surface until you consider the track records of the two delivering the messaging.

What is the point of giving them the security and then complain about it later?  Shouldn't the chief security reject their visits and give them the minimium protection rather than deploying tanks, heavy firearms and whatnot.

The Security Chief might not be the decision maker.

Probably the President was eager for a nice photo shot with M & H and instructed to host them...

‘Honestly? Meghan Markle’s new Netflix series

But to be honest, I don't really expect Meghan to cook at home.

There was a recent interview with one good top friend who revealed that both have just one housekeeper, a gardener and security personnel, and one nanny for the kids.

Honestly, they really want us to believe this???

Hint: The nearly 19,000-square-foot Mediterranean-style home boasts nine bedrooms, 16 bathrooms...

‘Honestly? Meghan Markle’s new Netflix series is the perfect move for her’

This show has been years in the making, just look at the Duchess of Sussex’s past passion projects

It seems Meghan Markle’s ability to break (and unfortunately divide) the internet is still absolutely thriving, as she kicked the new year off by announcing her return to Instagram following an eight year hiatus – and then swiftly dropped the trailer for a new Netflix lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan, a day later.

Said trailer, which has already been viewed nearly half a million times on YouTube (and has a plethora of… not particularly kind comments underneath), shows the Duchess of Sussex in her Montecito kitchen whipping up an array of culinary treats, living her absolute best vanilla girlie life and chatting with celebrity guests. Husband, Prince Harry, also makes a brief cameo, as does the beehive in their Californian garden and the likes of Mindy Kaling. It’s calming, it’s wholesome – and it all makes perfect sense as the next step for Meghan in her post-acting, post-royalling career.

...

IEWPOINT

The Hate For With Love, Meghan Is As Unfair As It Is Predictable

“We’re not in the pursuit of perfection,” says Meghan Markle in the trailer for her forthcoming Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, “we’re in the pursuit of joy.” The show, which airs on 15 January, promises “cooking, gardening and hosting tips”, but the preview overwhelmingly features food, as she prepares focaccia, ceviche and tiered sponge cake to share with high-profile friends in a California kitchen. The pursuit of joy might be a cutesy platitude, but it’s a common one across food media, a simple notion that resonates with our need to be nourished and find comfort around a table.

As a food editor of nearly 15 years, I know that eliciting joy is a guiding principle for almost anyone who cooks, professionally or otherwise. It is a sentiment so valid as to render it anodyne – inarguable in its feel-good vibes. But any words uttered by the Duchess of Sussex, the woman who splits opinion more than a jar of Marmite XO, instantly become weaponised. I should have known better than to be shocked. Meghan sensibly turned off the comments on her Instagram post about it, but a quick scroll through the Netflix feed reveals wide-ranging vitriol including “anyone who streams this should be deported”, and “she doesn’t know the meaning of love”. This is a technicolour, sound-on, flashing lights Trolls World Tour of trolling.

But this is Meghan Markle, Hollywood actor, entrepreneur and duchess. Glossy is why we’re watching it. “No average person wears million dollar jewellery while squeezing lemons,” wrote someone.

ok, the series wasn't done at her Mansion in Montecito

Truth about products Meghan Markle uses in new Netflix show revealed

The Duchess of Sussex shared details of the new programme this week

Meghan Markle made headlines earlier this week with the release of the trailer for her brand-new lifestyle documentary With Love, Meghan.

It has since been revealed that, despite being filmed in a sprawling Californian kitchen the programme wasn't filmed in her own glamorous Montecito home she shares with Prince Harry but instead at an ultra-luxe wedding venue just around the corner.

What kind of food does Meghan make on the show?

Over eight episodes, using much of the fresh produce from her gardens, the Duchess prepares elaborate, artful platters of crudité (three in total) and fruit rainbows, pasta (single-skillet spaghetti, rigatoni with greens), salt-baked branzino, Korean fried chicken, chicken tinga tacos, a last-minute frittata (for Kaling), quiche, tea sandwiches for kids and whimsical crostini (one that looks like a ladybug), plus homemade coffee creamer, sun tea, blooming tea, bellinis, mimosas and mason-jar cocktails.

“I love feeding people,” she says. “It’s my love language. The only thing better than eating food is making food for someone and watching them eat it with delight.”

I just wonder if there are really people who watch this???
