Guest Guest
It is bad enough for Singaporeans to pay for the vaccination of those here on Long Term Pass. But now, those on short term passes including "elderly parents who came to visit their children", "others are here to undergo training", and even those who are "unable to return home" are also getting the jab becasue they are all "part of the Singapore population" ??? Who is going to fork the bills again next time? The vaccines don't come free. Are we going to go for another 30% hike to our Medisave premiums? This country is really becoming less and less for Singaporeans, and more and more for foreigners now. So much for whatever National Day we are having now. It's meaningless. https://www.facebook.com/ongyekung/photos/a.920603904620879/4839214766093087/?type=3 "Many are elderly parents who came to visit their children who have made Singapore their home. Others are foreign spouses who married Singaporeans but yet to get long-term passes. Some others are here to undergo training. These are some of the short-term pass holders in Singapore. Many are actually living here but yet to formalise their long term stay. Others, due to travel restrictions, are unable to return home. They too are part of the Singapore population and should be protected. It will help make Singapore more resilient against COVID-19. They will be receiving SMSs, to make their appointments at our vaccination centres."

Public health is not a zero-sum game. Letting someone else get the vaccine doesn't mean you won't be entitled to one. As it is, the vaccination drive had prioritised Singaporeans over EP and WP holders. And do you think this virus cares about nationality or borders. The focus is to have everyone vaccinated so that our more vulnerable ie babies or young kids as well as immunocompromised people are protected via herd immunity. Btw there has never been a discussion about the cost of handling this covid pandemic. I for one am happy our taxes are going towards protecting the people in this island, rather than fighting and losing some war in a far away land. leo yok loo
Vaccination is using small evil to fight big evil. Vaccinated still can get infected especially with this delta variant, recent research shown that effective rate for both Pfizer and Moderna have dropped to over 40% and 70% respectively. I believe most people including migrant workers got the Pfizer vaccine. They already mentioned SG will not focus on the number of infections but more on those who need to go in ICU. Guest guest
If not letting unvaccinated people dine in air con restaurants is a means to protect them, then letting unvaccinated under 12 kids go to restaurants is protect or not protect them?🤔 Last time unvaccinated can go into air con restaurants to eat. Now they cannot. Why? Is to protect them or make things inconvenient to them so they will vaccinate? 🤔 If vaccinated people are safer, then letting the unvaccinated go dine with a lot of vaccinated people is protecting them right? Don't trust too much on what you heard on local media as they are "aligned" with the government intention. They need to implement different measures between vaccinated and unvaccinated, not to protect unvaccinated but to make things difficult for them, so that they will go vaccinate. Just yesterday they announced companies should implement different measures in workplace between vaccinated and unvaccinated employees, and ask those unvaccinated to go for ART test regularly and pay the testing fees themselves if they continue not to go for vaccine. Not wrong to say vaccinated and unvaccinated people also can get infected and also can spread the virus. But the difference between vaccinated and unvaccinated people is during when they are infected by the virus, vaccinated would not get seriously ill and lesser risk to be warded in hospital to get treated. I have a colleague got infected with covid recently, and due to he is vaccinated, he did not have any symptom and did not feel unwell even his PCR result is positive. And he never go to hospital at all and was only quarantine in those community isolation facility and eventually allowed to go back home after found to have recovered.
