the main point remains: The authorities were complacent in handling the incoming visitors or returning residents at the airport. The Virus had not slipped to the community if this had been handled more professional.

 

They charge companies or shops for not sanitizing sufficient in their shops and hand out penalties but the diligence at Changi airport was not up to the required standard!

 

Now, it is too late.

 

 

I wish more people would reflect on this. If u look at online comments most people would blame the government for not closing borders to india early enough, nevermind if imported cases from that country have been entering SG several months before without any outrbreaks occurring. The outbreaak only started a few weeks after Ph3 was introduced, and it was also when so many people started becoming too complacent and startef flouting maskxand safe distancing rules. People chatting inside buses loudly and for long periods for something that was not particularly important. People not wearing masks and even smoking outside near other people in bustops. In the gym many a**holes not wiping equipment after use and doing more socializing gossip than exercising.

 

So we locals are actually just aa much to blame - if not more - than the government. We deserve to collectively get locked down as a lesson.

No lesson learned: Singapore responds to COVID restrictions with immediate panic-buying

 

Singaporeans rushed to supermarkets to stock up on essentials as soon as tighter COVID-19 restrictions were announced today.

 

Long queues quickly formed at various supermarkets following the announcement of the latest measures, according to photos spreading online. 

 

Trade and Industry Minister Chan Chun Sing and Fairprice supermarket CEO Seah Kian Peng responded to the chaos by basically telling everyone to calm down. 

 

“While F&B establishments may be closed for dine-in services, takeaways and deliveries are still allowed and there is no need to rush to buy groceries or other essentials,” Chan wrote online today. “Let us continue to remember to buy only what we need and look out for the more vulnerable among us,” Chan wrote.

 

Seah repeated his advice from last year, when panic buying fever took over Singapore after the disease alert level was raised in March.

 

“So repeating our earlier messages at [the] onset of dorscon Orange : no need to rush & buy what u need; our stores will always remain open. More importantly take care and stay safe,” Seah said, noting that the supermarket chain was “seeing more traffic and bigger purchases” at both their physical and online stores since noon. 

 

People were seen crowding multiple supermarkets to check out trolleys and baskets filled with food and essentials like, you guessed it, toilet paper rolls.

 

“The panic buying starts again! Haiss…..why!?” Facebook user Sunny Pang wrote today, sharing a video of grocery shoppers queuing at counters. 

 

Other photos and videos also showed people trying to keep a distance from one another.

 

Among the rules kicking off Sunday are a two-person limit on gatherings and a ban on dining out. 

 

They were announced today amid a new wave of infections largely affecting Changi Airport and Tan Tock Seng Hospital, causing Singapore stocks to fall by 3%. Sheng Siong supermarket shares, however, jumped by 11%.  

 

Singapore added 52 new cases to its daily COVID-19 count today, made up of 24 locally transmitted cases and 28 from abroad. Thirteen of the local cases came from Changi Airport.

majority has been given to locals and PRs to return to Singapore since June 2020. 

 

Check the daily numbers, vast majority of persons returning had been locals. 

 

Surely the South Asian workers arriving in Singapore wouldn't immediately go to the airport Terminal 3 food court on arrival from overseas to eat there. 

Such behaviour looks like one certain type of returning passengers...

 

But don't think this blaming will improve anything. 

 

The lapses had incurred due to not sufficiently stringent procedures on arriving passengers from overseas.... Who to blame?

I thought anybody coming into the country still needs to isolate at a quarantine hotel for two weeks? Are they now simply being given a SHN? That is a horrible decision if this is the case. Anybody going to the PRC needs to be quarantined in a hotel for 28 days as a counter-example.

 

Singapore and every country around the world needs to adopt a policy that anybody visiting needs to be quarantined at a dedicated hotel for 21 days. The only exceptions should be delivering goods to ports, political leaders there for very urgent meetings, and sports events like the Olympics, which will be contained in a very tight bubble, with any violators immediately deported and never allowed to visit the host nation again.

 

People are not taking this plague seriously enough and severe measures need to be implemented until at least the end of this year. The vaccine has caused many people to get careless. Our politicians need to loudly and continuously emphasize that the virus remains a threat to all of us.

And where did that quarantine and SHN get us the last time? 24 community cases yesterday and another 24 community cases the day before? It only takes one COVD case to slip detection for the entire population to get infected. The politicians should have been aware of the increased virulent nature of the mutations the moment the UK variant came into the picture. But yet, they wanted to play with fire using Singaporeans' life as stake, and continued to let the foreigners into the country even when the Indian variant were made known to the rest of the world.

Notwithstanding any green lane arrangement or travel bubble with these countries, the loophole is allowing Long Term Passholders or their dependents to enter Singapore at this critical time.  14 or even 21 days SHN is not full proof as already been proven in the Changi Airport Cluster.  

 

Also, medical tourism should be put on hold at this time.

The world situation is actually stabilizing with the ongoing vaccination until the explosion of the Indian mutant variant, which is many times more infectious, resulting in close to 4000 death a day in India.  It was reported that 44 countries had been affected so far and Singapore is one of them.

If you had a bit of brain which is very now for everyone here obvious you don't have, you had seen Nightingale was not hitting on Indians/ South Asians or trying to post anything anti foreigner, then you had noted, Nightingale was government critical and exposing facts against the governments explanations.

 

Instead of just looking at the nationality, look at the entry type of these persons in the list. That should tell you the whole story of what happened.

 

I am shocked to see the Immigration (ICA) having permitted so many social visit passes into Singapore while

employees of companies in our office building (mostly businesses from Europe and US) who hold EPs did not receive any grant by the Singapore Government (MOM) to return to Singapore. There is some staff waiting already more than 8 months to return back here from Europe or US and MOM never granted the permit for re-entry to Singapore.

 

Why did ICA permit so many "relatives" from Pass Holders, Students etc under a Social Visit Pass to Singapore?

 

Can ICA explain?
