Hi guys,

 

I took up the task of being a BW Moderator with a very poetic desire to provide help and safe space for the rising population of younger (and highly possibly confused and worried) gay/bi guys coming to Blowing Wind to explore and find themselves and try to navigate life as men who have sex with men. (And of course I would be happy to offer advice to anyone of any ages, provided you want to receive it)

After careful consideration, I have decided to run a small Confessions/HTHT/Help Corner programme/initiative.

 

A safe space for you to ask your questions, share your worries and seek advice to overcome the tough yet rewarding journey of exploring yourself, your sexuality and relationships with surrounding people as men who have sex with men (a.k.a. gay, bi men)

 

1) You can send confessions totally anonymously. Your confessions will be checked every Friday.

2) I will post them on Blowing Wind Member's Lounge so only members can give their own advice and points of view (and you still can read their replies anonymously). I will exercise censorship on troll and judgmental replies as I deem fit, to prevent hurting the "confessants".

3) I'm currently working on a tracking mechanism so confessants can keep track and read new replies easily. Will update once I figure it out.

Advise comes in all forms and shapes. If people wants to censor and sugarcoat the advise from the "trolls" to the "confessant, then you can jolly well go seek nicey-dicey advise from the church and pay the professionals to listen only to the good stuff. This is real life advise given to the "confessants" from the public school of hard knocks.

By and large, putting things in perspective, the advices from members will have a high degree of bias. Judge and analyse for yourself when you receive them. Do bear in mind, our community of guys here are not a majority in our society, we are in fact a very small minority when taken in relativity. Therefore, do not conclude that the advices here represent the majority of “the school of hard knocks”, our voice just represent one of many voices. cheers

1) Troll comments can be harmful to the ones on the receiving end, especially if they are already in a vulnerable state of minds. You would think being a troll on the internet is cool and stuff, but you're just a toxic and miserable being. Attack my censorship all you want, I am not here to please you anyway.

To a certain extent, you're not wrong. Thank you for pointing this out. However, advice will always be biased, not just from the members here. And one should always judge and analyze the advice given to him, regardless of where the advice comes from.

I will try my best to make sure the pieces of advice are of good-will, how the confessants process them are their own decisions.

 

P.S. I don't believe that the opinions of the majority are necessarily always the helpful ones

I still remember how a moderator wanted to start something like an "All Gays Come OUT" movement here on BW. He was also making some false claims about having some kind of a support network coming soon here on BW, and that was more than a year ago. Imagine if some in-the-closet gays followed his movement during that time and then gets thrown under the bus soon after that. They'd still be bleeding there today.

& i have never stepped into a Confessions Booth in a Cathedral,

Why aren't more members taking advantage of your service of therapeutic confessions?

 

I remember when I was young-er having so many issues that I would not share with God in any confessional, but could have gotten answered very well in an anonymous gay website.  The problem is that gay websites didn't exist when I was young  ( or I never knew about them? ), while now being old-er I have most of my issues resolved.  But if I ever have a secret issue now, I surely will confess it here in your confessions corner.

I applaud @BlinkOnce for his service to the membership and to others who choose to post as guests. As far as @Steve5380 is concerned, he answered his own question. There were few if any ways of young gay guys finding answers to questions about sexuality and being or feeling gay when he was young. Now our world is filled with so many ways of obtaining advice. The problem is that it is not always clear who is giving the advice and if he/she has any agenda behind it. End result is that merely checking websites can be incredibly confusing. Even BW illustrates that there can be a variety of views on any single subject. And discussion can be heated when one poster is queried about questionable advice he may have posted.

 

The key to @BlinkOnce's post is that he seeks to assist younger gay/bi guys. The best advice for younger guys comes from those who are roughly the same age and have been through roughly the same experiences at roughly the same time. For example, advice given to gay guys in the early 1980s at the start of the AIDS crisis will be quite different now. Similarly advice given to guys in Singapore and Malaysia with Article 377 still on the statute books will be different to that given by those living in countries which have accepted gay relationships and gay sex.

In reality we are the result of millions of years of evolution, not some decades of technological improvements.  Our place of residence, our age, don't change much the fundamental circumstances of our lives as human beings.  Good advice can come from anyone, and the more experienced he is, the better.

Naturally good advice can come from anyone. But that depends on the nature of the advice and the age of those requesting and those giving. A late teens or early 20s Singaporean boy seeking advice on home issues or on how to pursue a first relationship with a fellow Singaporean in 2022 has little to learn from older posters in their 70s who have spent all their lives in western countries with their totally different life styles and grew up in a completely different times and communities. I share exactly your same "highs" in the toilet. Used to have my fix at N Point 2nd Lvl (old wing, above Macs'). Then at OTP.
