Schooling's time was 49.84 sec, 0.59 sec behind the winner who made it in 49.25 seconds, or a sixth of one second faster. . Throw you into the lion's cage, 1 sec or 59 seconds to get out of there makes a lot of difference between life and death. Same for competition or those carrying out risky activities. The problem is that you are wasting your time ... and ours ... arguing with a mental midget who knows nothing about sports ... and even less about mathematics ... but continues to dedicate a ridiculous amount of his time to baselessly attacking Singapore's greatest Olympic athlete. The troll clearly does not know the difference between 0.59 seconds and 59.0 seconds, which is why he very incorrectly tried to claim that Schooling was almost a minute behind the winner, when he was really just over half-a-second behind the winner in what is his secondary event. lonelyglobe
Didn't expect him to win any medal as since 2016, he have not been able to clock that kind of timing while competitors goes under the 50 sec mark easily. But also never expect he would not be able to make it to the semi-final or final. Anyway he have achieve what many couldn't and will go down in history as winning the first Olympic gold medal for SG. Guest Unridiculous Equivocations
Nobody can stay on top forever as witnessed by the fact that gymnastics superstar Simone Biles is suffering through an unprecedented nervous breakdown and is too freaked out to even try to compete right now, defending champions China lost their first three women's volleyball matches and are in serious danger of not even qualifying for the quarterfinals, the top two women's tennis players Ashleigh Barty and Naomi Osaka lost in the early women's singles rounds, the mighty USA men's basketball team lost to France, and the veteran-filled USA women's football squad were thrashed by Sweden. I don't understand why any supposed Singaporeans would go out of their way to incessantly attack Joseph Schooling on the internet, but you are disgustingly twisted individuals, and you will never in the entirity of your miserable lives accomplish even 1% of what our nation's greatest swimmer has already accomplished in his young life. Despite not coming anywhere near the heights he reached five years ago, I remain proud of our country's first-ever Olympic gold medalist, and look forward to seeing his future contributions in developing the next generation of athletes who will proudly wear red and white. Guest Mickey Spillane’s M Hammer
On 7/29/2021 at 2:40 PM, Guest Unridiculous Equivocations said: Nobody can stay on top forever as witnessed by the fact that gymnastics superstar Simone Biles is suffering through an unprecedented nervous breakdown and is too freaked out to even try to compete right now, defending champions China lost their first three women's volleyball matches and are in serious danger of not even qualifying for the quarterfinals, the top two women's tennis players Ashleigh Barty and Naomi Osaka lost in the early women's singles rounds, the mighty USA men's basketball team lost to France, and the veteran-filled USA women's football squad were thrashed by Sweden. I keep seeing terms like "mental health" and nervous breakdown" written to describe what has happened to Simone Biles but they are not really the most accurate phrases for her condition. She is suffering from what gymnasts refer to as "twisties" - which is when their minds and bodies suddenly get out of sync so they can't perform their maneuvers properly - and gymnastics is one of the worst sports in which that can happen. For the sake of comparison, what is happening to Biles is somewhat similar to when golfers suddenly lose the ability to sink easy putts, football players suddenly begin sending penalty kicks high above the crossbar or far wide of the goalposts, baseball players suddenly lose the ability to make simple catches or throw the ball properly, and so on. Such situations can be embarrassing in most sports but potentially fatal in gymnastics. If a swimmer's mind and body get out of sync before or during a race, the worst thing that can happen is finishing last, see Joseph Schooling for example (there should be enough certified individuals present at competitions to save swimmers from drowning in such situations). But if a gymnast's mind and body get out of sync, performing maneuvers incorrectly, and not landing properly can lead to injuries, paralysis, or death. Simone Biles posted a video on Instagram of herself repeatedly botching her routines in training, and says she has suffered from "twisties" before, but she has never seemed to have it happen during a major event like the World Championships or Summer Olympics. I give her credit for pulling out of her events after realizing she coud hurt the team or seriously injure and potentially paralyze or kill herself if she was not 100% in sync. Biles is also 24 and most female gymnasts retire before that age, but she stuck around because she was three months under the minimum age cutoff to be on the team for London 2012, and wanted one more chance at the Olympics. She also wanted to ensure that USA Gymnastics make changes to prevent future gymnasts from being sexually assualted as she and some of her past teammates were by the disgusting rapist Dr. Nasser. Guest Meanly Preacher
German official sent home for racist slur at Olympics ASSOCIATED PRESS | JULY 29, 2021 8:32 AM PT TOKYO — A German cycling official has been suspended and will be sent home from the Tokyo Olympics after using a racist slur during the men’s time trial. German Olympic committee president Alfons Hörmann said he considers Moster’s apology to be “sincere” but that he “breached the Olympic values.” [Read the rest of the article at the website of the San Diego Union-Tribune.]
