Suddenly turning Superman into a bisexual is ridiculous because the character has been completely straight for 83 years. I don't think making sudden changes in sexual orientation that clearly go against character, even fictional character, should be done so lightly. This is Iceman all over again and all this will do is unnecessarily turn off some fans.

I could actually understand revealing Wonder Woman as bi since she's a princess from an island that only has females. I grew up watching the superman movies, smallville and all the other superman shows. The Superman you talking about is Clark Kent. He has been portrayed as straight. However, I feel that his son, Jon Kent, being Bi does not make it ridiculous at all. Especially since its modern times. His son is just carrying the mantle of superman forward. That does not make all superman Bi.

To be honest, in my opinion anyway, the original poster is even more at fault than the guests. When 99% of the general public sees the name Superman, they think of Clark Kent, and very few people outside of avid DC Comics readers have any idea that Clark Kent and Lois Lane have had a son named Jon who is now a young adult. Blowing Wind is a general forum, not a comic book forum, and the original poster should have been clear in the title that it is referring to Superman's Son.

 

A much better title would be Superman's Son Comes Out As Bi, and it would be nice if the original poster or a moderator would change the title, to avoid further confusion in the future. To 99% of the general public, Jon Kent will always be thought of as Superman's Son (if they think of him at all), not as Superman. Jon might "technically" be the new Superman but that is not how the general public thinks after more than 80 years of Clark Kent being widely known as Superman's alter ego.

 

The original title is lazy, misleading, poorly written, sloppy clickbait, and perfectly exemplifies many of the problems that plague the internet today. I bet the original poster is not even a "real" Superman fan, but a vapid horny airhead who saw a link about a "bi Superman" on social media, and immediately ran here to Blowing Wind to "share" it without any additional consideration of background or context. That is the exact same way coronavirus misinformation has spread all around the world.

 

My point is simply that people should be more considerate of the community at large when they post new threads. I have been openly gay since my 20s . All my straight friends and relatives have accepted me and my partner. Their children including all my nieces and nephews also know about my partner and I. None of my nieces or nephews is gay , but they are very tolerant and accepting of LGBTQ. One of my nieces who is married, she also does not shield her children, rather my grand nieces and grand nephew from knowing about us.

Completely agree. If the malicious original poster had used a proper title, instead of typing his uninformative two-word clickbait, there would be no confusion. He also didn't put any helpful information inside his post, just a link, and most internet readers do not click on unknown links unless they want their computers or phones infected with viruses. Another alternative title could be New Version of Superman is Bi. The original poster needs to be more considerate towards the mindset of Blowing Wind's readership in the future.

My nephews know me as the "guncle" the gay uncle, and have in the past met with my ex. My ex babysits his neighbour's kids and even helped picked them up from school when the parents had work emergencies. To many kids who grew up with gay parents, or been surrounded by gay adults, it is their normal. They grew up feeling loved and protected, and their parents are just parents, even if it is 2 mums or 2 dads. 

 

What is corrupting about knowing that LGBTQ+ people exists? In the context of the new Superman, it is DC Comics. There is nothing explicit in it beyond a passionate kiss between two men. 

 

Keeping a child's mind "sheltered" will not protect the child. They will grow up and find out anyway. It is better, in my opinion, to expose them to the different people, cultures, societies, the way the live, think, etc. and explain it to them on your terms, versus letting them find out from others. Knowledge is neutral, it is how you apply the knowledge that makes it corruption or not. 

 

For a person who writes such an asinine post, in a gay forum, if you are a gay man, you need to let go of the hate you have for yourself, and embrace that you are a light that can shine positively for the people around you. Explicit materials? My nieces and nephews have known about me and my partner since they were as young as 4 years old.  As kids, they have enjoyed staying over at my place.  One of them has even asked how come his dad could not lead the lifestyle similar to mine, one that is not heavy burdened?  This year, two of my nephews became attached and during CNY, they were so excited to bring their girlfriends to my place so they could meet the 'cool gay uncle'.  We had a good time catching up over tea.   So what's wrong with kids growing up knowing gays exist?
