Guest Paul Lim
Property agent receives backlash after saying delivery riders, private hire drivers 'have no future' Malaysian property agent Paul Lim has come under fire after his unsavoury comments about food delivery riders and private hire drivers. In a live stream video on Nov 7, Lim and his partner mocked those who take up such jobs. Entrepreneurship educator Maggie Fong asked viewers: "How can you have a future doing food delivery?" She then said there are better ways to make money, like selling property to the wealthy. "If you can sell something with million-dollar price tags to the rich, your aura will change," she said. Lim, 28, then showed off a luxury watch on his wrist and said he had treated himself to the 110,000 ringgit (S$36,000) timepiece. Incensed, some netizens commented that food delivery riders and private-hire drivers are still making an honest living. Fong then said: "Only parasites drive Grab, they have no culture." Two days after the controversial livestream, Lim issued a public apology on Facebook. The 28-year-old asked for forgiveness while wiping away his tears in a six-minute-long livestream video. He said: "I am sorry, please give me a chance to change my ways." He also pleaded to netizens not to involve his family or company in the furore. Fong also apologised for her harsh words and said in an interview with Sin Chew Daily that her intention was to encourage young people to improve themselves and seek breakthroughs. She added that she had learned a lesson from the incident and will be more careful with her words in the future. She will also stop taking part in live stream videos except for those related to charity work. https://stomp.straitstimes.com/singapore-seen/property-agent-receives-backlash-after-saying-delivery-riders-private-hire-drivers#xtor=CS1-

MAYBE THEY ARE ON THEIR KNEES often to the rich so they are able to sell million-dollar price tags... already so shallow and empty as human being, still dare to openly comment and slam others who are earning honest dollars livings! I am not surprised if these 2 dodos will not dare to order food from food panda and other food delivery service now. You know they will get extra 唾液 or even small lump of shit added in by the people they spoke so unmercifully. They deserve it. And I can tell you the Penang upper crust, so called elite people are like that one . Really no respect for people... ptooi, ptooi, ptooi. These two deserve what may come their way. Guest Sia suay
Low ses people who work for high ses ppl may be a bit unbalanced, because some high ses ppl will treat low ses ppl poorly, so these low ses ppl with a chip on their shoulders will have to find others whom they think are lower ses to abuse in order to feel better about themselves. So called self compensating. Lol Doing live streaming only for charity afterwards is putting up a front of kindness. Such a sham! Low ses people like them will FOREVER be low ses. Property agent is an ah beng job for ambitious and hao lian bengs with no proper uni cert.

auscent
The way the message got delivered was a bit off putting. Otherwise the core message has some good parts. People should stay in school and study as long as they can. After getting their certs, should they still choose to do underqualified work - that is perfectly acceptable to me. At least they are more likely to have more choices of jobs.

GachiMuchi
Maggie Fong, Who Looked Down on Food Delivery Riders in Livestream, Stepping Down in All Her Companies Unless you live under a rock, you’d have probably heard of Paul Lim, the Malaysian property agent under fire for belittling food delivery riders and private-hire drivers in a livestream video. Many people were triggered at him because the offensive video came from his Facebook account, but if you’ve watched the video, the main culprit was actually his guest, entrepreneur Maggie Fong. Here’s the snippet of the video that has caused an uproar: You might know that Paul has been suspended by his company and promised to be a food delivery rider to “experience their hardship”, but how about Maggie? Well. Who is Maggie Fong? Maggie Fong is an entrepreneur who supposedly run various businesses, one of which is Wekah Berhad, a platform that helps other entrepreneurs succeed, and another a Hakka-themed homestay in Penang. Wekah Berhad’s website is now “under maintenance”, but according to Wayback Machine (a platform that automatically save snapshots of websites in the past), it was still live on 4 November 2021. In the website, it stated that Maggie started her first business at 23 years old, and has coached over 1,000 entrepreneurs. What’s interesting is that she uses the title “Dr” / “Prof” instead of “Ms”, and according to her name prefix, it’s because she’s a Doctorate holder (博士) and not because she’s a medical doctor or a dentist. However, there’s no indication of her education in her profile. Image: Wayback Machine It also turned out that this incident wasn’t the first time she mocked and belittled the poor; in another livestream of her own, she said that poor people who became firefighters did that to feel “heroic” due to their insecurities. Ouch. You can watch that here: https://www.facebook.com/Kevcrave/videos/3052859601621913/?t=0 Maggie Fong is Stepping Down from All Her Companies In a press conference that was conducted earlier than Paul Lim’s press conference, she did almost exactly what Paul did. She claimed that she came from a poor family and singlehandedly built her success, and she has never looked down on anyone, blaming the incident to the way she handled the delivery of her message. She then apologised repeatedly, and said that she would be leaving Facebook for a while. She also said that she would be stepping down from all her positions in the various companies and associations she is in, even in the companies she founded. She then did a Kenneth Leck: She claimed that she’ll be giving up the shares in her company, and even had her lawyers present. Here’s the video: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=391508005784967 If you’re watched it, you’d know that firefighters didn’t feel that her apology was sincere. In the meantime, both have remained silent since the incident blew up. I guess now, we’ve another beef with Malaysia: whose saga is more exciting, the NOC Saga or the Paul & Maggie Saga?
