Just got a question. For those who apply for Employment Pass(EP) and come to Singapore, they must go thru a health screening, which includes screening for HIV right? Do they do it in Singapore or in their home country? Is there anyway any of them can bypass this? What if they contract HIV while here? . Coz Irecently I had sex w a foreign talent who just came to Singapore abt 3 months back, and I got worried coz he penetrated me withoutprotection before I pulled it out 10 seconds later when I realised he didn't have protection. Now I'm kinda paranoid although it should be logical that since he came 3 months back he should be negative. Any input on this????? Thanks peeps!!!!!

No way to bypass.

If you get hiv you will be sent back and can't find employment.

If you think you have been exposed to HIV, there is the gay morning after pill that you can take. However, for it to be effective, it must be consumed within 72 hours of exposure. PEP is a 28-day course medication and will require constant monitoring from the doctor for the duration. While its function is similar to PreP, there are some difference still. So go see a doctor about PEP ASAP while you are still within the window.

Love.

Reminds me of the Mikhy Farrera Brochez case involving the HIV patient database leak. No talents and full of fraud in his resume, turned out to be HIV positive, and he can still get a job at Ngee Ann Poly as a lecturer.

Employment CHECKS in Singapore for foreigners? What a JOKE!

Not only that ,

The wording on the statement from relevant dept.

Prohibited from entering Singapore in the future.

Meaning banned from entering Singapore for life  even coming as a tourist on a social.visit pass is banned if you are tested positive while trying to get a work pass, Employment pass whateber.

Its a lifetime ban , from what I understand from the wording,

Hi there, I am in the same exact situation.  Last night, in a moment of folly, I allowed a foreign worker with S Pass to penetrate me, possibly for 30 seconds to a 1 min.

I then sobered up and immediately stopped and insisted he wore a condom.

He claimed that he had some HIV tests in some club in August, and then again in Nov 2024 for his S pass renewal.

Can anyone please help me as I am really feeling alone and nervous now:

1.  How exposed am I?  Do i need PEP?  I am not sexually active for a few years and so apart from this encounter, I am 'safe'.

2. The CDC is closed today - what other options apart from public hospital?

3. What about private clinics? Does anyone know? Are they better in protecting confidentiality apart from being higher in fees?

4. What else should I know?

I'm feeling very anxious and stressed now and any advice will be much appreciated.

Thank you!

If it is only 30 seconds to 1 minute, it is quite improbable that you will become infected.  And finally, did you bleed?  After you insisted that he use the condom, did he still screw you, making your bleeding worse?   Then the next question is important, do you believe he renew his S pass?

Here is my thought.

He is most likely the kind of person that goes raw with people if he didn't consider wearing a condom in the first place.  People that don't care about their own safety, much less yours, should be avoided.  Though your 30 seconds penetration (False Alarm),  person you deal with (Red Alarm).

Hi Thanks for the response.

I don't believe I bled (which I do sometimes, when passing motion, very mildly as the toilet paper has a slight touch of redness).

So yeah, he continued screwing with condoms on, but only for barely 5 min as I had cummed by then.

To be precise, it took him 30 sec to force in, as it's of super large size, and he started banging away for 30 sec and I stopped him right away.

He claims to be married with kids, and that initially disarmed me.  You are right abt the red flag.  I'm certain he does raw with others.  Not an excuse, but I resolve this will never happen again.

I’d like to share my recent experience. I struggled for a day with various thoughts and dilemmas—feeling embarrassed, ashamed, and concerned about possible HIV exposure. Eventually, I decided to go to Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) A&E.

I arrived and registered by 8:55 PM. The staff and nurses were very professional. When they asked about the issue, I simply said, “I may have had possible exposure to HIV.” I’m not sure if it was intentional, but the receptionist asked me to wear a mask before proceeding—perhaps to protect my privacy. I think this was actually necessary, given the circumstances.

I was soon called into a room for further evaluation by a nurse, with another nurse standing by. The questions included: “What happened? Why do you think you were exposed? Was it with a man or a woman? Do you have any fever, rashes, or sore throat? When did this happen? Have you traveled abroad recently?” After answering, I was directed to a waiting area with about 8–9 other people.

Around 50 minutes later, I saw the doctor. He was friendly, made me feel comfortable, and showed great understanding. He drew four small vials of blood for tests, including liver, kidney, hepatitis, and HIV panels (among others I can’t recall). As I have some kidney issues, he couldn’t prescribe the full 7-day course of medication. Instead, he gave me a 3-day supply and asked me to return the next day for additional blood work at the CDC, to reassess the results and adjust the treatment if necessary.

About 10 minutes later, I was called to pay for my bill and receive the medication. The bill amounted to $320+ due to the various blood tests which were not subsided.

The Next Day

Due to my condition, I had to visit the CDC for further evaluation. The doctor there was a bit eccentric but still helpful. He switched my medication to one that’s safer for my kidneys, although it’s significantly more expensive—around $387 (with GST) for a 28-day supply. Other medications were more affordable, and the most expensive was Dolutegravir ($950+!! but luckily got govt. subsidy). I received a 14-day supply and will follow up again to continue the remaining 14 days, if necessary. The total cost for consultation, after government subsidies, was $327. So, for a full 28-day treatment, the total would be around $650. This doesn’t include the A&E visit. So, the total cost should be about $950 or just under $1,100.

For those without any issues, you may receive the full 28-day supply on the first day, and with A&E fees, I estimate the total cost would be around $730 or slightly more.

Before visiting TTSH, I called PULSE to inquire about PEP costs, which are $2,100 just for the medication. I’m not sure about DSC as their hours are very limited, and they’re closed on weekends. But based on my experience, TTSH seems like a solid choice.

Post thoughts

Honestly, I still feel intimidated and embarrassed by the experience, despite the overall positive outcome so far. I keep reminding myself that no one will remember me (which I’m pretty sure is true), and that this is just a short phase to get through for long-term benefits.

Thankfully, the costs weren’t as high as I’d seen on other websites. I do hope the government can provide more subsidies, if possible!

And lastly, always play it safe—no matter what!
