One Seven Sauna @ Circular Road

One seven has officially closed down on 25 Dec 2014.

RIP

Blue heaven will be taking over and re-renovate it.

What you mean by "has officially closed down on 25 Dec 2014"???

Four days have passed since Christmas, and the one seven website is up and running like nothing has happened.

Not in their main page, not under "announcements".... NOTHING!

This remains of the website of Keybox that remained up and running months after they closed!

Are no decent sauna owners in Singapore?  Who would post a notice on their website even before they close?

Guest, why are you yelping so early in the morning?

so read their website and rush to their place to participate in the events they are advertising.

then sit down outside the closed place to meditate and imagine that you are inside having fun.

maybe that's all the fun you have anyway.

One seven is still in business.

Currently they are not open for business and are undergoing a three weeks renovation.

They will operate again three weeks later.

The boss himself say so.

hehe,  who is "they"?  I put myself to sleep every night and the long peaceful hours keep me in top health.

At this moment, in the middle of my active day,  the "hehe" and "they" must be in the middle of their nightmares.  We have here a 14 hour time difference with Singapore.

Thank you for the correction.

Although the 1-7 website does not say anything about a renovation.  Maybe the old man forgot how to write?

It would not be too bad if "Blue Heaven" would replace 1-7 though.  It could bring some new blood to those old quarters.

Thanks for the clarification, Raidan Alpha.  I guess I should go check it out in a few weeks' time.

Seems that the angmoh can give you a lesson in education and civility...

I usually plan ahead, and the website is useful to know what events take place and when.

And the website can help find the sauna in a foreign city the first time I go.

Not only that,  but the website helps in making up my mind if I want to go to the place or not.

It does not hurt to be smart.

I studied with a certain race for several years and most are not very smart.

Hmmm.... Bad English Grammar and Lousy Maths Calculation, to cut it short.

One thing I am sure is that their dicks are bigger than their brains.

Well, you "smart" guest,  look around you.

Most things of value you may have were invented, developed by angmohs, many of them Americans.

I don't know what you invented in Singapore, although you have exceptional anti-gay, anti-chewing gum laws, and... attitude.

Sorry even the anti-gay law is from Britain! The only original thing in your list that Singapore did is banning chewing gums.

I know the anti-gay law dates from colonial times.  But what is unique to Singapore is that the government still hangs onto it while progressive nations have abolished it.

went to one seven yesterday...was closed...hope they open soon after renovation...

why would one want to renovate when one is making a loss?

are they down-sizing to become another no-frill establishment like those in the Chinatown area?

So is Blue Heaven taking over or just a rumour?

or Blue Heaven doing the renovation?

In that case, this would affect others business. I predict it would drop 20 to 30%.

ppl are still keen to try because of

1. Newness

2. Convenience

3. Sentiment/Attachment

Is it close permanently??? Went there last night but close..

Look to what leads to this complete lack of responsibility by the owner of one seven!

WHAT IS HIS PROBLEM, why cannot he write in his website that the place is closed, and the reason for the closing?

I used to have some sympathy for the old man,  even if I felt badly treated sometimes at the front desk of one seven in the past.  But now I don't care one bit what happens to him and his business. Whatever problems he has he deserves them.

I passed by Club One Seven on 6 Jan and saw it was closed for renovation. Or is it closing? Does anyone know? I just became a member on 19 Dec 2014. The staff didn't tell me about it.

Oh dear.

That place is as good as dead, with or without renovations.

Some people paid money and didn't even get fucked, so consider yourself lucky and got your money's worth.

Move on lah.

But the fact remains that it is a serious lack of honesty by the owner Sam to keep the one seven website up and running like nothing has happened. It even states under "Announcement" that "Yes, we are hiring!", and not one word about being closed or renovating or whatever.

Based on my understanding about website management, unless Sam are very IT savvy, otherwise, I am sure he uses the services of some website guy to manage his website.

My guess is that he did not engage someone to edit the website for quite some time.  Just look at the One Seven website for partners. SportsmenAsia had ceased operation for some time and his website still published its formal address.

The One Seven Facebook page had also Not been updated since 6th April 2014.

Not updating the website does not mean the company "lack honesty", it just means that they website is not updated. You guys can always pick up the phone and call the no. to find out about their promotions, etc.

IF they tell you verbally that they are open, but did not, then that would be dishonest. Otherwise many companies with website that is not updated would also be considered "dishonest"?

Still, if you guys have issues with the company, you can always contact (email / facebook) the boss and find out on how you can get your $10 membership refund, if any.  I am pretty sure the money for the membership is not refundable.

Wait and see if the club re-open. If not, time to move on guys.

Just my 2 cent

I am not an expert in website management myself, but I believe that the expertise is necessary to design the website. Once this is done, the website owner should have an easy way to modify certain fields of it like entering data on a spreadsheet. Like accessing the input for "announcements" and typing them in.

An owner should be able to update his website because it is so important.

I remember that the first sign of trouble in Absolute sauna years ago was their website freezing up for months. But then they were responsible at the end by announcing with anticipation their closing down.

Even old Max of Queen Resort acted responsibly by putting his website "under construction" when he closed down.

But the owner of Keybox was NOT, he left his website up for months after he closed.

This may sound trivial for a local who can go to the saunas at any time and if they are closed, well, bad luck. But there is a group of visitors who like to frequent these places too, and it is useful to be able to trust the websites and plan ahead. For example, if you want to go to Bangkok when they have some hot events, you like to be able to know what they are and when they take place.

Yup it is irresponsible for a sauna to not indicate on their website whether they are closed/renovating so people don't have to waste their time going down and finding the doors locked. Open liao also i wont support. Lousy place!

Hmm.. look forward to seeing it after the renovations. But frankly the place is beyond repair. Especially the walls and ceilings. All coated with mould and years of dirt.

Heard that Keybox has already taken over One Seven location & is currently under renovation & they'll be reopening very soon !

So is this a threat to cruise?

Well.. if a new sauna is going to replace one-seven it really does not matter what historic affiliation it has but how smart the new owners will be. There is plenty of data about how a gay sauna can become successful, from the old Towel Club, the early years of Absolute, and now the popularity of Cruise Club. And there are plenty of examples of what not to do to remain successful. The formula is so short: offer maximum pleasure, pleasure, pleasure at the highest value, value, value.

Guest We have fun

There is a place for different segment of the marketarrow-10x10.png and the type of people  and fun level customers want to get.

I use to go OneSeven in its early days, then the prices of other spas were much cheaper (Towel Cub and Blue Heaven) therefore pull the younger and major part of the crowd there. So $27.50 One Seven charges make no sense.

During the period of 2010 to 2013,  I wanted to find good tops age between 30 to 45 , I started going back to Oneseven frequently on Fridays. From 2013 the crowd faded so I gave up. After Sep 2013 the period when I can only find less than 20 people in actively cruising in Oneseven.

I am not a specialist in CROWD Businessarrow-10x10.png. But over the years I think I have read and discussed CROWD businessarrow-10x10.png with many to draw some good tips . WHAT is CROWD business? It is a business that the CROWD will pull in MORE CROWD, eg spa , discos, clubs, rock concerts, theme parties. This kind of business goes down the hill very quickly when the crowd fade away. We have witnessed many clubs goes from HERO to near ZERO. eg Boat Quay, Clark Quay, Mohd Sultan area.

To OPERATORs of the futurearrow-10x10.png spas,  I have this to say "WATCH your customers' option. Meaning look at competition/alternatives that can take away your crowd" even mobile apps are your competition. eg. those days of FORT ROAD and ANG SIANG HILL are history because there are many more options like spas and now apps.

Old OneSeven didnt watch PRICE and MANAGED facility. Paying $23 to use broken place and not many cruisers, why would I waste my precious time and moneyarrow-10x10.png.

Visit Shogun and Tenmen they are good lessons to learn , Shogun going down hill because of poor maintenance. Once the crowd move to Tenmen they can cry the same lines as OneSeven. Shogun is too much club house concept and night sleeping station than sex & cruising, yes if they wanna their business model  and offering to be such, and is happy and sustainable, it is their choice.

Right now we are seeing Cruise Club in the pole position virtually monopolising their marketarrow-10x10.png segment after long years of drought. That attributed to the fact that Keybox and Absolute closed about the same time. I believe healthy competition keep standard up, though I prefer ONE BIG & GOOD for each SEGMENT to congregate the crowd.

should look into Thailand and Taipei and watch how they operate. Aniki / Chakran and Babylon....Professionally managed

Bangkok is a good example. In addition to the ones you mention, Sauna Mania and now R3 Sauna attract big crowds by offering events like nude nights catered to the satisfaction of their customers. Another two saunas, Cruising and DejaVu do the same thing for mostly local guys since they are a little more remote, and they have been offering the same events for years.

This is so true! The crowd is what makes a gay sauna. And it is an unstable equilibrium (positive feedback): a good crowd attracts more people and becomes bigger up to the capacity of the place. From there, it can only go downhill, but it does not need to. When the owner makes a mistake, like rising prices too high or disregarding upkeep of the facilities and the customers, the feedback reverses and it is very difficult to go up again. Owners have to be very careful and always strive to make their place better.
