The boy who acts as TPH's older son is not bad though Elvin has been quite stagnant, but I think it's the people he's acting with too. When he's made enough he wants to quit. I guess he knows he can't rely on his looks forever.As long as Mediacorp gives him roles and a good salary he'll keep going I suppose. Both were very good actresses and those days and in their hey days. they dominate the local scene.The Star Awards were only given out in the mid 90s where both thespians had been relegated to secondary roles.But who can forget the stunning performances in secondary roles?XY won at least 3 acting awards and Zheng had one ... Zoe robbed Zheng of the best actress award in mid 90s because Zoe's show was a blockbuster but Zheng's was a time-filler.See a good actress like Zheng can turn a small part in a few episodes into a major leading role. This is STAR power without dressing up in the latest fashion trend. I have nothing against Zoe and the recent princesses. I am merely reminiscing the good old times of the 80s where watching TV shows was a quality time for the family. We sat in front of the box and discussed the show thereafter during supper. It was a long gone era where there were lesser distractions, no computers, no whatsapp, no candy crush. Do the contract artistes get paid a higher per-episode rate compared to the non-contract artistes? I was under the impression that maybe some of these artistes prefer the flexibility of remaining freelance. Quite surprised though that recently some people like Cheryl Wee and Sheila Sim with no prior acting experience and no contract with Mediacorp can get leading or co-leading roles. Life experience is very important in acting, singing, music, etc. Aw looks a little bit 'plastic' to me (her acting). It would help if she could take up acting classes overseas during breaks. Yes, Ou Xuan was really awful in dramas like Switched (2007) (where she played the spoilt bratty sister of Fann Wong) - her vocal pitch was too high and her intonation was unnatural. But she gradually improved, experimenting with vocal acting in Breakout (2010), and giving a credible performance in China drama Precious (2012) opposite regional stars. The jewel in her crown was definitely Dream Makers (2013), where the public, colleagues, the media and observers were unanimous in agreeing that she should have been crowned Best Actress.And Ou Xuan will last the longest. Joanne Peh is showing signs of fizzling out due to her inconsistent performances, while Rui En is only capable of the strong-woman-performance and nothing else.IJoanne looks like she no longer vested in being a actress, looks distracted after her break up with the Ang mo and then quickly announce her hook up with 715, she is going downhill unless she pick herself up...
