Someone once told me wickedly - that in Chinese period imperial drama, the Singaporean have such poor package that they cannot even qualify the role of the imperial maid-in-waiting or the guard. See Ix's story above. That is why, Mediacorp is trying to weed out all foreign-born (PRC mainly) actors and actresses to be the 2nd fiddle so as to provide opportunity to the Singapore-born or Singapore-mandarin speaking actors.
