It was so funny how originally the MediaCorp scriptwriter tried to sabo Fann Wong by writing this dud role Zhou Weiyun for her (42 years old anyone??). They were trying to reprise the Ultimatum scenario again by giving Zoe the stronger role and Fann the weaker role. Fann smartly rejected the dud role of Zhou Weiyun, leaving the producers scrambling to rearrange the casting. In the end Zoe had no choice but was forced to take on the lousy role of Zhou Weiyun. Look how she screwed up the role. In the Ultimatum, Fann got the weaker role, but she tried her best with the relatively colourless material. That role turned out okay. In Dream Makers, once Zoe gets the weaker role, she cannot 加分 to it, the role literally flopped in her hands like a dead fish. Nuff said. But because there was no one else suitable to take over the role of Zhou Weiyun, the producers considered it more apt for Chen Liping to play Yao-Zhu Kangli while Zoe takes the role of Zhou Weiyun. Zoe herself also knew it was a dud role originally meant for Fann. But what to do, boh pian lah! Worse, MediaCorp awarded Chen Liping Best Actress for her role, Zoe must have felt the tight slap.
