So anyway, anyone knows why Shaun Chen doesn't seem to have much upcoming shows? 2012-2014 he had heaps of shows then after winning Best Actor and Top 10, this year 2015 only had one show (Homeland) and he wasn't even the male lead in that!

 

I'm quite confused why he isn't cast in more shows cos after winning the Top 10 and Best Actor Star Award, a lot of news outlets were praising him and calling him the next Ah Ge so shouldn't producers be lining up to cast him?

 

And in my opinion, with his acting talent, surge in popularity and leading man charisma, he is the most promising actor right now in Mediacorp to reach Tay Ping Hui/ Chris Lee status... How come Mediacorp not promoting him aggressively ah? Did he offend someone like Dai Yang Tian did?

There is the 8 dukes now, there is no need to promote him. He don't have enough fans to generate $$$ for mediacorp.

 

The 8 dukes all still got a long way to go la. None of them are even close to reaching Ah Ge status yet. The most promising one, Alousius Pang still looks like a xiao di di. Mediacorp severely lacks A-list Ah Ges, now only left with TPH, LNX, Chris Lee, Qi Yu Wu and maybe Chen Hanwei although CHW still debatable.

 

Among the rest of the current batch of actors, there is:

 

Elvin Ng: Got the fanbase but don't have the talent

Thomas Ong: Can act but not popular enough

Pierre Png: Not popular enough

Dai Xiang Yu: Everyone forgot about him already

 

So I think Shaun Chen got the most potential. He has proven his acting capabilities, has a fan base strong enough to get him into top 10 and most importantly, looks like an Ah Ge and don't have the boyish look like Elvin Ng. 

 

If he doesn't appear in any more shows, he might miss out on Top 10 next year already! Sigh Mediacorp start casting Shaun and stop casting Romeo Tan in every single show!!!

Rumour is that DYT offended some big shot in Mediacorp so he got blacklisted. He was supposed to be cast in 'Sudden' then got pulled out at the last minute and Romeo became the lead. Huh? I don't think so. If Shaun is only working with Mediacorp on a project basis like Huang Biren and Jacely Tay, he won't be eligible for the Top 10 and acting awards!
