There are plenty of gay Mediacorp actors who can play manly characters like Xie Shaoguang, Chen Hanwei and even Elvin Ng. Just that Bryan Wong is obviously not a very good actor and his previous Best Actor nom for his hairdresser role is due to his fit to the role rather than his talent. I don't find Rui En's acting as Tong Lin exaggerated but I do agree that her character is badly written. Same as Zoe Tay's character. The writers gave too much personality to Tong Lin and too little to Wei Yun lol. In my opinion, I think the writers only care about Zhao Fei Er since as a writer, she would probably be the most interesting character to them so they paid a lot of attention to her and made her a very believable person. If Huang Biren, Jacelyn Tay, Ann Kok, Li Nanxing and Jessica Liu are eligible for the Best Actor/Actress trophies, it will make the whole show more competitive and interesting. Right now for Best Actress, it's always the same old contenders like Jeanette, Rui En, Joanne Peh, Chen Liping and Rebecca Lim so boring!
