Guest

Guest
Lao Zoe deserves her Ah Jie status? LOL She was already a big flop since the mid-90s. 1997 TCS set up a satellite cable channel in Taiwan, Taiwan TV director John Wei called Lau Zoe the "yellowing leaf of Singapore" 1997 Rising Expectations - lost to Wong Li Lin 1998 Wisely - paired up with Michael Tao Dayu but could not make it big in HK 1999 Lost Soul - flopped badly, viewers criticised her ghoulish slag look, her ratings dropped out of top 10 (no. 1 was Fann Wong's Out to Win) 2000 Millennium Bug - another big flop, viewers could not understand her character or the show 2001 The Tree - she was a big-time box office jinx, production cost $1.3m but box office $720,000 only?? 2001 My Home Affairs - she played a modern career woman but talked about stocks and shares like selling tupperware in the wet market 2002 Katong Miss Oh - acting cute with rebonded hair in that retarded sitcom with Mark Lee, Mark Lee eventually won Best Comedy Actor beating her 2003 Phua Chu Kang - she delivered her lines in English and the guest-starring episode was telecast on Channel 5 a week before Fann Wong's Shanghai Knights screened in cinemas. But she was lambasted by viewers for trying too hard 2004 Man at Forty - acted ugly but was not nominated 2005 Star Awards - attention whore trying to force Chris to propose to Fann; hogging the mike and preventing Christy Chung from speaking; stealing Chen Hanwei's thunder 2006 Extrim-X 'cha cha cha' and Imedeen 'I swallow' controversy - the sponsors dropped her totally 2006 The Perfect Wife sitcom - another big-time flop, this time she wasn't even nominated 2008 By My Side - she played a dowdy wife who, out of 'love', tried to seduce her AIDs-stricken husband Chen Hanwei in a bra and black-rimmed glasses - laughable like hell 2009 Ultimatum wrinkles controversy, lost to Fann Wong 2010 Love Cuts - production cost S$1m, box office S$90k, she is a 2-time box office jinx 2011 Devotion - her big-time comeback role but when Taiwanese babe Cynthia Wang Xinru came out, she was relegated to 'supporting actress' status, LOL 2012 Double Bonus - not nominated for Best Actress 2013 Dream Makers 1 - the only actress not to be nominated for Best Actress, LOL 2014 You can be an angel too - another big-time flop, no one even bothered to watch or discuss her role 2015 Mister John - she was uttering vulgarities like fuck and asshole in the movie, what a shame! 2015 Dream Makers 2 - she wants to masturbate with Chen Hanwei? Her role is only a walk-on role? She is nothing compared to Rui En or Jeanette Aw? LOL Obviously this rubbish old hag is just a deflated hot air balloon, all hype no substance, she's got an unparalleled track record of flops and failures! Not marketable, not versatile, no overseas exposure, no substance, no looks! Ah Jie my ass.

Who are you comparing to? To the older generation of zoe/lnx or to the younger generation of andie/shaun? Its easier to break into overseas market in the 90s, because singapore dramas were at its peak and china/tw dramas were average and their audiences look at sg dramas then like how we see china/tw dramas now. Fann/chris got their break because of that. They wouldn't crack into china/tw market if they try now.

Guest
Since mention TVB....i suddenly remember many yrs ago...Kit Chan once acted in Healing hands 2. I know not main lead...at least not cameo...esp got same size pic in poster. And i know she is more of singer than actor n this is an one off thing. But still better than ppl eg maybe Ann Kok. Guest
About chris and fann...Fann did go into China market much earlier...but still that time....spore dramas were already lagging behind china productions. I feel her good looks helped...esp in period or fantasy dramas. Chris only went into taiwan last few years...when not young-looking...but having a good agency and acting skills which ppl can see...helps. I doubt Li nanxing will achieve as much as him. Overall foreigners still might need abit more than locals in that respective market...eg luck besides the abovementioned.

He has only himself to blame for getting on board this ill-fated, doomed-to-fail-right-from-the-start disaster of a project. TCS armtwisted Sony Music Singapore and Dick Lee into producing and releasing this 5-track EP for the Queen. The publicity campaign even had a sneaky twist - it said 15,000 LIMITED-EDITION copies were produced. They labelled the EP limited-edition only because they knew the EP was unlikely to sell beyond 15,000. (Rough guide to album sales figures in the late 90s: 1. Fann Wong's Fanntasy sold 30,000 in Singapore 2. I Live Alone sold 20,000 in Singapore 3. Mavis Hee and Kit's albums sold average of 25,000 to 30,000 4. Mavis Fan,Tarcy Su - about 15,000 to 20,000) But what happened? In the end the EP didn't even sell well. No actual figures were released but the EP definitely didn't sell out. A few months later stacks of the EP were seen languishing in the clearance bin of the former HMV of Heeren, selling for $1 each. Zoe Tay is the 'Ah Jie' indeed! TCS and Sony Singapore can't be bothered to buy up Lao Zoe's EPs from HMV Heeren. Neither does present-day MediaCorp have the financial capability to invest in CGI to iron out old hag Zoe's wrinkles. What to do? That's why the only thing Lao Zoe can do is 搏版面搞新闻,get her lackeys to call her the Queen again and again. She is totally irrelevant to local showbiz, can't act, can't sing, can't sell albums, no overseas exposure, no marketability, no substance in speaking... the list goes on. abang
Really if I' m Zoe, I will harvest/sapu all the copies from the CD shop... It should not be more $500 if each copy is sold at $1, supposing the number of copies in the trash bins/lelong bins is 500 copies. I remember back in the early 80s in Hong Kong. An album is deemed "un-saleable" after 3 to 6 months. I bought quite a number of older vinyls then. They are still in my storeroom - 徐小凤的“顺流逆流”, Danny 的“精选”, 还有 70 年代的”郑少秋, 罗文唱的书剑“ 太多了。
Guest
It's quite pathetic to be buying up her own albums from the bargain bin, somemore there were at least 14999 copies.

She has the legions of fans... http://www.baike.com/wiki/%E9%83%91%E6%83%A0%E7%8E%89 1998年10月30日,为了纪念郑惠玉在新视10年的光辉岁月,新力唱片公司为她推出了专辑《十分郑惠玉》(EP)。 Can someone please correct the false info in her Baidu article which says she sold more than 20,000 copies of her EP?
