It remains a mystery why the role went to the 35 yo 715 then instead the 27 yo dyt. Dyt is obviously unhappy with the casting n the reason y he suddenly fell from grace was not really known to the public despite he was the choiced endorser with many advertisers then. In the following yr he decided to pack up n go home. The role of Joanne Speak slowly Peh was written as a villianess who at first took a shine to then up and coming Julie Tan. In the original script she was to have eventually plotted against her, due to jealousy. So much so that she caused her to be raped by the sissy gangster mediacorp xiaomei. Peh REFUSED to be cast in that light. Again, with the rewrites, the character became a too perfect character that lacked depth and conviction. The shanghai lad was then supposed to have loved Peh in the beginning, and realised his true love was the innocent Julie eventually, That wd have provided the impetus and motive for the change in Peh's character who was jealous that she had lost both fame and love, a throwback to Eelyn kok's hungry for fame bitch role.
