Guest Try and see Posted June 5, 2019 Report Share Posted June 5, 2019 Think a lot of our local BW members are probably too young to remember this Mediacorp (then called Singapore Broadcasting Corporation) drama called Breaking Point back in 1992. They was an episode with a rather bold homoerotic scene played by Li Nanxing and Lin Yisheng which caused a lot of parents to complain to the media. Some parents complained that because they watch Mediacorp (then SBC) dramas with their kids, they were forced to explain to their kids about man-man love, because of that episode. Other viewers felt that S'pore was not ready for gay scenes to be shown on local dramas. Although SBC obviously could not retract that episode, they never attempted something like it again ever since. Incidently, he was a model before joining SBC. To me, he was also a very good actor. No matter what role he was given, he always executed it very well. Not sure if you recall the Mediacorp drama 东游记 (1998). He acted as Tie Gui Li, the immortal who uses a clutch to walk. You can see him at 17:00 below. Anyway, you are right that somehow, he was never given any leading roles; he always played supporting roles, despite his good looks and performance. Maybe it's because of his small built? Or maybe he didn't suck up to the right people in the industry? Not sure. Sad to say, as you correctly pointed out, he didn't age well. Recent photos show his face looking very bloated and puffy, a far cry from his early days in SBC. Also, he was convicted of cheating several people of a huge sum of money some years ago.
