Did you notice when she cried at her mother's coffin, there werent any tears! And her expression was lousy. I wasn't even moved or pitied her character when she was supposed to be crying buckets. She does not have the X factor. Very ordinary.

She is still new. Maybe needs more time and experience. Anyway at her age, she can only be given small roles, like playing someone's daughter or a student.

Singapore actor Dai Yang Tian has changed his name to Dai Xiang Yu, in a bid to "improve all aspects of his life", says his manager.

 

SINGAPORE: The name “Dai Yang Tian” is pretty well known in Singapore, but Singapore actor Dai Yang Tian, is giving it up.

 

Dai’s manager revealed that the actor, who is best known for his roles in “The Little Nyonya” and “Together”, is changing his name to Dai Xiang Yu.

 

She said that Dai decided to do so after consulting an advisor, who believed that the change would “improve all aspects of his life”.

 

Dai is seldom seen on Singapore television screens nowadays.

 

The 28-year-old star, who is now based in China, has been spending most of his time these past two years trying to develop his career there.

 

Dai’s manager expressed that Dai has recently completed a film in China, and will work on a Chinese television drama at the end of the year, leaving him no time to work on any Singapore productions.

 

However, she said that there are plans to feature Dai in a local drama next year.

For a someone who looks like DYT, there are probably 1,000 of similar looking ones on the streets of any CHinese cities.

U need to be extremely outstanding to be able to stand out.

On the contrary, I tend to think that it is an unspoken policiy that local actors are given the priority to be groomed.  Foreign actors will be sidelined.

Like come on, only on linguistic skills, the PRC or Taiwanese win hands down compared to the Sporean actor who normally speak in a painful accent.  Ok in Spore, but never accepted overseas.

 

I also noticed that when they pick PRC actors/actresses, unlike SIA in their stewardess, Mediacorp tend to pick those whom are not too goodlooking.  I guess that is to prevent a great contrast on looks.  For instance, the contrast of a flat face flat nose was so apparent when Fann Wong was in the same show with Fan BingBing.  And of course, needless to say, they dub Fann's voice over.

 

I really think all these PRC actors in Mediacorp should just go back.  There will be no great opportunities in Spore, ok if just want to make a living earning a steady income and get sacked about 5 years later. BUt to be a star, no way la.  Mediacorp productions can't make it, Mediacorp mgt wont allow it, and Sporean audience wont support them.

omg i hate zhao feier so much... personally i don't understand why people say she's forced by her circumstances, because to me she's still greedy. and her character is really like some people i met in my life, and they can use the excuse of "being looked down upon" for their scheming acts. it's their own choice to be so greedy for fame and statuses.. im glad this drama which shows a seemingly pitiful character which actually doesnt deserve pity at all..

Stop picking on Fann Wong, she was praised for her breakout role in that drama 金大班, even though it was a supporting role, thereby completely stealing Fan Bingbing's thunder against all odds.  

 

You are just biased against her, just look how you called her "flat face flat nose", but please be fair and give her credit when it's due instead of unfairly sliming her.

As much as I dont dislike dyt, I feel that he will be better of back in China, as in with better prospects. His career doesnt seem to be propelling anywhere with Mediacorpse, where he should have been very big after the Little Nonya. The Shanghainese student role in A song to remember, was obviously written with him in mind, befitting his background, age and image. Instead, that role went to the Cantonese origin QYW, who was more than decade older than that role.

 

Though he might or might not be bigger in China, but at least I am sure he will be happier to be home based. Anyway, his fans can now look forward to Alfred, the new winner of Hey Gorgeous, who has quite an uncanny resemblance to dyt, to displace him.

 

Nonetheless, the moniker DYT sounds much manlier than dxy.

Yes i agree totally with this Guest.

And i also totally agree with Raiden n Abang abt Zhang. He may be the next Zheng Geping, provided he can wait.

Zhang is still a little too "soft" in terms of acting and overall impression given to audience. Give him time to toughen up n i m sure he will shine brighter n longer than that arrogant one. Dont forget Chen Hanwei also went thru this phase before.

Saw Zhang at AMK Hub NTUC before, quite tall n really boynextdoor type of handsome.
