I like Rui En in the cop series opposite Chen Liping but in this show, she was too act cute and came across as unnatural. 715 has better chemistry with Jeanette compared to Rui En too. The show about the people must pursue their dreams mah, it's not a show about how rich tai tai go shopping and high tea and talk about gossip about their daughters-in-law. For blockbuster I can understand the sponsorship type, but this one local production, makes me wonder what has changed within the TV company as older shows don't as as much of products placement. It would be the talk of the town if they get Elvin Ng to "ke chuang" as a neighbor brushing his teeth with systema toothbrush and toothpaste. However, I find something quite disturbing, the show promotes people to pursue their dream instead of getting hitched, then singapore population how? haha. Please don't start a flame thread on this. My eldest female cousin went thru this in modern times. Her family quite well to do but shes very much in love with this guy from a below average family and has intended him to be her future husband. But her parents strongly objected....went thru alot of shit and end up they broke up. Now my cousin is in early 40s, no bf whereas that guy already married with kids. It's easy to promise the world if you have no way of achieving it. But if you are rich, you won't make such promises because they are realistic. Foreign actors will be sidelined.Like come on, only on linguistic skills, the PRC or Taiwanese win hands down compared to the Sporean actor who normally speak in a painful accent. Ok in Spore, but never accepted overseas. I also noticed that when they pick PRC actors/actresses, unlike SIA in their stewardess, Mediacorp tend to pick those whom are not too goodlooking. I guess that is to prevent a great contrast on looks. For instance, the contrast of a flat face flat nose was so apparent when Fann Wong was in the same show with Fan BingBing. And of course, needless to say, they dub Fann's voice over. I really think all these PRC actors in Mediacorp should just go back. There will be no great opportunities in Spore, ok if just want to make a living earning a steady income and get sacked about 5 years later. BUt to be a star, no way la. Mediacorp productions can't make it, Mediacorp mgt wont allow it, and Sporean audience wont support them. I wouldn't say DYT was sidelined, Mediacorp gave him several lead roles after Little Nyonya and it was his own choice to go back to China and give up the market here. Mediacorp also tried to groom Zhou Ying who got lead role in Breakout very early on in her career, but she seems to have been demoted back to supporting. ZZH isn't doing too badly lah, his popularity hasn't taken off but he got to play lead in small budget production (the jump rope drama on Channel U). Compare to Yuan Shuai who is still stuck in third-line roles. In general the Singaporean audience deson't seem very accepting of PRC and Taiwanese actors. 715 seems to be the only successful PRC, but I think it's because he doesn't speak with a noticeably PRC accent. She has a major attitude problem and expects everything to go her way.The scriptwriters must rewrite the role to suit her, she must get her way on how she wants to play the character or else she will reject the role.Even top actresses like Fann Wong and Huang Biren were never given such red carpet treatment. And the strangest thing is, MediaCorp's management has been quite tolerant towards this diva, putting up with her list of demands. But the worst are Rui En's fans, they are one rabid bunch who, like Zoe Tay's fans, indulge in blind worship and shut out any criticism of their idol.They will bite like rabid dogs if you dare criticise Rui En. LOL A bad-tempered bitch with no EQ will go far, who did you think Chen Hanwei was referring to? I remember Fann Wong once took on a role in 沸腾冰点 (2008 drama) that had been rejected by Rui En. Would be quite interesting (if anyone is feeling really free) to go total up and compare the amount of screentime of each of the four female leads in Dream Makers. Agree with the rabid dogs comment.
