Working out and protein choices

i just started hitting the gym 3 months ago and had my weight dropped from 65kg to 58kg.

I am going to the gym 5days/week but still not lifting heavy, was skinny fat and trying to get more size and try to hit a healthier weight back to 65-70kg (i'm 170cm tall btw)

i am torn between whey protein and mass gainer looking at my weight should i go for the later one?

will the carb contribute to additional sugar intake that i should watch out for if my family has diabetic history?

*added my daily meal routine, not very special..

morning: 1cup oat with 1/2 cup soy milk

noon: mixed rice (1chicken, 2vege, 1egg)

dinner: mixed rice (1chicken, 1vege, 1ee)

Oh WoW! I would suggest you go whey protein because you do not need the carbs additional to your diet. My rule of thumb is 2g of protein per kilogram per day, so using something like ON Whey Protein, that would mean you should take 2 scoops (50g protein) in the morning and 2 scoops in the evening on top of your meals. On workout days I take 2 scoops 1 hour before gym and then 2 scoops within 20 minutes of finishing my workout. Good luck!

go for the whey but consider adding an additional meal or snack on too as well - you are not eating that much if you want to lift heavy and gain mass.

thanks for the advice. anything i should watch out for when using protein? eg coffee、caffeines?

also wouldnt 4 scoops be too much to start? maybe i'll start with 1 scoop before and after workout?

caffeine no problem, just drink coffee as normal.

start with one or two scoops and see how your stomach feels and how quickly you gain or not.

Protein powder should be an add on to a balanced diet with enough calories, the right macros and nutritional intake. Two scoops a day is probably a good amount to start. If you need the additional calories that four scoops would give, you might be better off instead adding one additional light meal instead of an extra two scoops.

Just as the amount of weight you lift is determined by your size, so is the amount of protein you need. It’s expensive stuff, so you don’t want to waste it by taking too little, lol. But agree with everything from Guest WTF above and that an additional meal could be considered. Get a good app like Myfitnesspal to help you monitor and track calorie and composition of your food.  Also remember you need to significantly stress those muscles to hypertrophy and then you need lots of sleep for the muscles to use the protein.
As far as coffee is concerned, it is the only drug proven to increase longevity provided you drink enough of the stuff 😊

Hmm. Unless you have orgy on a daily basis, cum protein does not sustain. :D

I was introduced to this brand. Quite good. So far I like Vanilla flavour.
