Dart
Chiropractic is more on Alternative Medicine, Physiotherapy is more on Conventional Medicine. The former bring almost immediate relief, the latter works gradually to achieve a stabilized result. Some Chiropractors will administer physiotherapy to their patients. fab
notd
Is your back hurting from spine-related issues? Go chiropractic. Is it hurting from a myriad of muscle-related problems? Go physiotherapy. Physiotherapy treatment usually require long sessions and repeated visits to hit your goals, as does chiropractic. Physiotherapists also focus on overall wellness, and will teach you a range of movements beneficial to your symptoms to improve quality of life. You are having pain now because your disc has slipped from the vertebrate's alignment and has offended the nerves. A good Chiropractor can push back the disc into alignment and the pain ceases. Errr .... no pounding for the next few days .... you get what I mean? 😆 because the alignment will be still weak.

How do you know it is a case of slipped disc, without even seeing an X-ray or MRI? It could be a case of muscle strain, or a slippage of the vertebra (spondylolisthesis). Although symptoms and treatment can be similar, they are very different conditions. There are also many other conditions that can lead to back pain. Unless the patient has gone to an orthopaedic specialist, it is unwise to diagnose just off the cuff... Quote Слава Україні!

In any case, an experienced Chiropractor will be able to identify the symptoms.

Have you seen an orthopaedic specialist and done an X-ray or MRI? I had a slippage of vertebra before, and did a long course of physio. The physio involved doing weights, similar to those in the gym, but with extremely light weights and with many reps. Each set has something like 30 reps, and we started with like one plate in the machine. The idea of active rehab is to build the muscles to better support the skeletal structure. I am not sure about your exact condition, but I urge you to see a specialist, and see what is the root cause of the pain. After I had built up some of the lower back strength, I started to swim - which is again very good for back rehab. I also warn you that you need to know what sort of root cause of the pain is, and not dive into exercises that may aggravate the situation. For my case, I have an forward slippage of my spine (not the disc), and breaststroke is a no-no, but front-crawl is good for my spine. It has been more than 10 years since my last flare-up, so I am thankful that the rehab has worked for me. Do listen to your body. I do stop running, when I feel that my back is starting to hurt. sgmaven
Many people assume that any nerve impingement along the vertebral column is due to a slipped disc, but there are many other causes of this pain (including vertebral slippage and disc degeneration). Also, if the root cause is not treated correctly, it can cascade into more problems involving the spinal cord. Please seek proper medical attention if not done so, before even attempting to go for physio or chiro. Quote Слава Україні!

sgmaven
@cutejackMine was a L4/L5 slippage (L4 slipped forward). I had stabbing pain in my thighs... Good that you got your MRI done. I hope that the slippage is minor, and doesn't warrant surgery. How long have you had the issue? It is known that many slippages stabilise after you do adequate rehab - exercises to strengthen the supporting muscles. Quote Слава Україні! catcherus
Anyone can recommend a good chiropractor or physiotherapist? I have a slip disc in the past, did a surgery but sometimes still have pain. Can combine both treatment save time.

fbttop
Have anyone tried chiropractor for low spine slipped disc as I hear alot of horror story that people died from neck and such twisting. Another qn, I feel tcm 'zhen gu' bone alignment is the fundamental for chiropractic? Meaning it's similar methodology and treatment? I was refer by first chiropact shop to raffles branch, a korean practitioner for spine. Has anyone used him?

Like the earlier posters mentioned, a good physiotherapist will work on strengthening your muscles through certain exercises to improve your skeletal stability. There could also be certain postural issues with the way you go about doing your daily activities or gym exercises. They can help with that as well. Some chiropractors do that as well, but not all. Most would probably only "crack and fix" your back, which I find akin to popping your knuckles. It provides short-term and immediate relief but does not fix the root cause. Have you seen a specialist yet regarding the severity of your slipped disc? If it's minor, your body may reabsorb the slipped disc herniation with time and sufficient rest. fbttop
It's an old injury for 20 over years. Have seen all the physio and it's no use. Tuina and ba guan is effectively to relieve tension for 2 weeks or so Swimming and yoga helps to activate and strengthen the core However still will get relapse and inflammation I read the website, did anyone receive. Non chiropractic treatment t such as decompression therapy. Which is psyhio. Or shock wave therapy?
