It's the first increase since 2017, with financial help for low- and middle-income groups to be announced on Thursday (Sept 28), the Government said. This is before accounting for government support, they added
thickhead79
The price hike is necessary to meet the “substantially” higher cost of producing and supplying water, they said. It is also needed to maintain long-term investments to fulfil water demand that is projected to double by 2065 as a result of economic and population growth. ........................................................................... Steve5380
An increase of 50 cents for 1,000 liters of water is not too steep. Think how much more it would cost to drink from 1,000 one-liter bottles of Coca Cola instead of water. And the tens of thousands of $$$ spent for the medical costs of drinking the sugary beverages... That is not the proper method for determining what is affordable. Every single cent that is taken from you reduces your available savings. You're telling us that a frog in warm water won't get hurt if the heater isn't turned up high enough to cause any concern. obgdcriv

He said manpower cost so expensive nowadays hard to increase..

I just find it a bit hypocrite, that one the announcement of such price hikes the Government directly comes out with subsidies for poorer households. On a honest view, Singaporeans in fact benefited from very low water prices many years back and started with quite many not very resourceful water saving actions... Just take all this water pipe cleaning of floors, tiles, corridors, etc at public and private places. In other means in results in price hikes of private operators, so get prepared that most businesses will use the water price increase to justify another round of price increases in restaurants, laundry services etc etc.... The days of cheap hawker food in Singapore seems to become something of the past soon...

Bought dumb bell to workout at home plus learning - uninstall grab will never order food in. - stop one bus closer to save bus. Stop one mrt closer to save cost. - dont order drinks anymore. Just drink plain water. - order cai png 30 min before closing. Not much choice but the owner usually more willing to give you more / all the remaining so he can close shop. - reduce washing clothes to once per week. - never buy tissue anymore. Instead tsjr toilet rolls from work place everyday to stock up without getting noticed. - never buy toilet roll also. Get from office - turn off lights at home. Shower in the dark before sunset. - collect rain water for toilet flushing

Was about to toss some coins... 😂 I walked the linkway between Suntec city through to Raffles City shopping just 2 days ago, there were at least 3 music entertainers , previously there were none... Not sure they are all registered... I guess those entertainers in those white clothes looking like ghosts will bump up soon out of nowhere, those when you place a coin inside the box they will move for a short moment....
