Need to use a chair or ladder to reach the top shelves. But because of the high ceiling, if I don’t construct cabinet all the way to the false ceiling, it will just be wasted space. At least now it will be extra storage space for things that I don’t need so often.

In Condominiums where moving in and out and sales nowadays are quite common, you just need a family with 3 kids in the age range of 2 - 10 and then you actually prefer to stay more out of your flat instead of inside if you are in one of the center floors. But like me, on the top floor, you don't suffer such noise from above. It also enables you often to walk in the nude around your home as nobody can look into your flat. The issue in Singapore is more that they don't do any insulation for the roof top. And most ceiling boards are very thin. But for many HDB or newer Condo flats, there is something on the top floor nowadays, so often there isn't any roof top but some pool, gym or BBQ garden and sorts of that. “But like me, on the top floor, you don't suffer such noise from above. Top floor of the whole of Singapore is it?

Fully agreed, nowadays very high chance to have kids staying above your unit. No need to have 3 of them, even one can create an havoc. Like me, the family staying above my unit only has 1 kid, but this stupid kid always run and jump in the house, giving me bad headache. Even though i have complaint to HDB many times, but there is no improvement and the running and stomping sound still the same.

It would help to keep the whole flat cooler also. Either you can on the aircon and cool down the room before sleeping and then off it, or simply on the aircon to sleep. Steve5380
I like the pictures I see here of your homes. They show good functionality, good use of space, elegant, tidy. Something that can be expected of Asian gays, ha ha. ( no wife and children that mess up ) I live in a family house of medium size, 3 bedrooms, living, dining room, one story, about 1700 sq. feet. I bought it 46 years ago, when it was 22 years old. It was a typical house in a Houston good neighborhood with plenty of space. Today it is dwarfed by new "mansions" popping up like mushrooms after the rain. I could post pictures, but I am intimidated by the impeccable view of yours, which I could not match because I have many things laying around, and I don't want the trouble to tidy up. While I was married with children the home was also impeccable and well kept. I did personally many improvements with enthusiasm. While later I lived with my bf it was less cared, and we had many products around that were needed for his treatment. In the last 5 years I have been living alone, and frankly I don't see the need for perfection. Soon my older sister will come and live with me, and she will be the driving force behind "perfection". In the meantime, I don't mind if my home is somewhat "schampig", ha ha., but it is also fully functional. In my younger days I had plans to have a big elegant residence by now, but I don't see any need for that. I don't miss anything, and this is good enough for me. We are all affected by it 😔 Its the year end. Today I also feel so negative and down. Usually I'm up by 6 am. Go out for morning walk or jog etc. But today I'm just in bed. Can't get up. Very low. Weather outside also very nice now. I just hug my pillow and imagine it's a bf.
