My 22-year-old older brother became romantically involved with a old woman 老女人in her early 40s whom he met during a part-time job, almost double his age. 

He chose to end his relationship with my best friend in favour of being with her. She is a Thai Chinese permanent resident who is already married and has three children.
Despite widespread advice against this decision, he dismissed the warnings, resulting in a heated argument with our family. 

The assertive old woman 老女人visited our home, causing a disturbance as my mother tried to lock the main gate preventing my brother from going out at night. When returning home, he appeared noticeably fatigued and subdued.

 

We speculated that the old woman might be draining his vitality. Interestingly, he took my dad's car for dates during late night , prompted by my dad's discovery of long, wavy strands of brown hair—a contrast to my mother and me, who both maintain shoulder-length straight black hair.

My father also threatened to disown him should he persist in marrying the old woman.

During the cleaning, my mother uncovered several condom packets and local hotel receipts. 

Additionally, I stumbled upon numerous intimate photos he took with the old woman while finding excuses to use his phone. 

Worried about a potential curse or "gongtao" 降头 we wanted to consult a master 师傅 . 

He has been my role model since childhood, and I truly don't want my brother to jeopardize his future with this old woman.

I'm presently not communicating with my brother. 

I just perceive him as dirty and disgusting for being involved with that old woman老女人. 

It's perplexing how an old woman 老女人could captivate my brother, causing him to leave my 19-year-old best friend.

Instead of stopping your brother, had you sit down and ask your brother why is her attracted to the "old" woman？

 

Beside, being Charmed (下降头), which is a possibility.
Could he be financially be supported by the rich lady?

Or that the lady is really good in bed and able to satisfy him?

Or other reasons, not known.

 

I am sure there might be more reason/s why your 22yo brother leave your 19yo best friend.

It's rather apparent that you and your family don't like that lady, due to all the bad gossip, etc. but it seem no amount of force can tear them apart. 

If you and your family really loves your brother, your family should put their personal feelings asides and be empathic to your brother, if like what you said, you looked up to him. Instead of getting emotional and irrational, your family should find out why by taking time to talk in a non emotional civilized way.

Not sure how close you are to your brother, but why don't you try talking to him instead of speculating or shutting him out completely? Like GachiMuchi says above, there are many reasons why someone chooses to be with another and what you perceive to be "jeopardizing" his future may mean differently to him e.g. for all you know, he has not been happy in the relationship with your best friend and may have found it difficult to talk to you about it (maybe because she's your best friend??). In any case, it won't be easy for you since you may be biased as his ex is your best friend, but he is your brother after all and you ought to give him the chance to tell his side of the story.

Too often we try to fit people into perceived/accepted molds created by societal/familial expectations that we tend to dismiss anything that does not fit into it - a gay lifestyle is considered taboo for many societies too, think about it!

A 40 y.o. woman is not "senior".   It is amazing how younger people are so wrong thinking that advancing age diminishes human value.    Maybe they think about fresh vegetables that as they get older become not edible, ha ha.

 

There is some diminishing in a 40 y.o. woman, and this is her increasing difficulty to have children.  If the TS' brother marries her, he may soon give up on having his own children.  This is different from us men, who at 40 have not lost anything... except some dumb inexperience, ha ha.

 

The 22 y.o. brother is an adult, therefore entitled to make his own decisions about who he pairs with.  Unless the family has some evidence of dishonesty or immorality by the 40 y.o. woman, it is totally wrong to stand against her,  and this is a disservice to the young family member, the brother.  One exception is the case where she still has a husband living with her, in which case the two deserve the condemnation.

It is interesting just because it is an older woman getting involved with a younger man, she is the witch who has placed a charm on your brother. If the genders are switched, to where it is an older man and a younger woman who is your sister, then I do not think there would be this much protest against the relationship.

 

The whole thing comes down to face for your parents and how they will be looked upon by relatives, friends, etc. By societal conditioning, it will be looked upon negatively and they will be the subject of gossip etc. Furthermore, since there is already talk of potential marriage, any opportunities to brag about the future daughter-in-law will be diminished since your parents are ashamed of the relationship because of the age difference.
