Manhunt 2024

The pictures are horridly taken and may not fully represent them in their best angles. Also, might be good there there is a shift away from stereotypical Adonis-like appearances (which at least one of the current contestant embodies) for other qualities? The gay community already has such cookie-cutter men and expectations, maybe this might force us to consider other metrics of attraction and what makes a man "beautiful"?

Singapore can't hold a candle to our neighboring countries in terms of looks. Respectfully tho, at least in general. Power to those who made it to the finals.

More like the really good looking people with nice body in Singapore won't take part in manhunt.

My best images of Singapore Manhood are the guys I saw years ago at the "full moon" events in TowelClub and later some at the Absolute "full moon" events.  And it was not just seeing them,  but EXPERIENCING them!   :)

TOTALLY THIS! There are plenty of good looking Singaporeans but why would they lower themselves by joining?

Manhunt became irrelevant a long time ago, especially since their founder Samuel Seow became infamous and went to jail and got disbarred.

Not only does the organiser have such a bad reputation, the platform itself barely provides any exposure.

So frankly, only those CMI and super desperate will join.

Sir, speak with integrity to show you have integrity. Be honest with yourself and tell me if any of these contestants will be able to advance to the top 5 in the actual international competitions. Read the above comments; anyone with eyes and integrity will tell you that these contestants are a joke.

Hmmm, I do think if we follow conventional "beauty" of male pageant contestants, then Ram Nathan would stand a chance on the international field because he fulfils the basics of the convention: ripped body, decently masculine face, popular career path etc.

Also yeah, what i said was with full integrity. We need to consider how in the past, many fitness enthusiasts joined Manhunt as a way of boosting their networks and have a taste of fame but such fitness-centric individuals with the conventional hot bodies and decent faces no need for such a platform as they already have IG and other social media networks to sell their image/intentions.

That's why I believe there might be a shift in contestant profiles and the types that are picked, opening up for more diverse contestants who might not fit the conventional image of an ideal male beauty pageant contestant. Whether this is truly good or bad is still up in the air but I think it encourages us to look at what we deem as attractive beyond the norm.

I find the tone you adopted a little iffy and feels like you are echoing the same superficiality that is bouncing around in our community. What's so problematic with giving these non-conventional contestants the chance to compete? Maybe they're gonna do some spectacular things with the platform. Things are beyond chiselled jaws, cut abdominals and popping pecs.

More than integrity, this is a matter of respect.  Even if these contestants are not our choice, they are not completely out of place.  They deserve respect because they have enough self-esteem to think that they have a chance in the competition, and they have enough guts to expose themselves to the public, to the opinion, good or bad, of those who see them.

Their later organiser also involved in court case for abusing his female staffs, one of whom was his niece.

Seems like being the manhunt organiser is very stressful 😕

Erm manhunt founder is not Samuel Seow, but Alex Liu who got on the news for police reports made by two male contestants claiming he molested them. It was quite sensational news at that time. But according to later news, he has died in 2018.

No, these contestants lack self awareness and are delusional enough to think they can win. Such grandiose illusions of self importance should not be respected but should be called out. On TikTok, these contestants are already being mocked and dragged viciously. Lacking QC on both the contestants side and the organisers also did not filter out the atrocious participants. Please stop sugar coating this. Utterly painful to watch, if it weren't so hilarious.

Now people are more open-minded. All sorts of looks have their admirers. The criteria for people who are allowed to gain exposure and validation have widened, what someone mentioned earlier as DEI. Sometimes it could also be due to bad photography.

Maybe they will be very interesting to watch and have other things to offer the audience besides 6 packs chiselled looks?

It is not about representation, dear. It is about winning the title. And the judges will not follow your sense of aesthetics.

Trust me, the judges will stilll look for "6 packs chiselled looks".

I am beginning to think this whole Singapore Manhunt contestant reveal for 2024 is a prank.

Maybe we see guys differently than girls.

This Manhunt is not a gay best looking guy competition...

expectations on the guys might be different.

I wouldn't take all of them into my bedroom but surely some of them. haha

What one guys said, probably seems true. In tiny Singapore not everyone wants to be pulled into the public...

(is there a swimming trunk runway part???)

And with my mentality of a senior,  I could possibly take some into my home,  regardless of my bedroom, if their character is a blessing for me.

So many valid points raised here. But yes, I too cringed when I saw and heard them speak.

But I wonder why we think manhunt is beneath us though. This is the same competition where we saw Benedict Goh (anyone remember him?) back in the 90s. And he was charming.

I think there are more girls living in Singapore than gays.

Girls like manly guys but those who can also do the dishes and change diapers...and most important bring much money back home...  🤣

So the winner has been announced.

"Former dolphin trainer wins Manhunt Singapore beauty pageant, also snags ‘Mr Fitness’ title"

This is something for THE DOLPHINS to feel proud about!  😄

It would be nice to be a dolphin and slide against him when he swims with us.

He looks Korean in this pic 😛

His IG: https://www.instagram.com/macccric/

Only 292 IG followers?

REally goes to show only those CMI ones will take part in beauty pageants nowadays.

The fact that he won but still only got 200+ followers shows these pageants are just a scam and dont provide any exposure at all.

These pageant organisers should just give it a rest since pageants are irrelevant in an age of social media

https://tnp.straitstimes.com/news/singapore/unexpected-twists-mr-world-singapore-2024-coronation

Unexpected twists at Mr World Singapore 2024 coronation.

It was a night of surprises at Mr World Singapore 2024’s coronation night on Aug 15.

The night's theme was #reachinghigher, a message personal to the founder of Beam Artistes Samuel Seow.

After a very public trial for attacking his niece and another woman, the disbarred lawyer has found the courage to push ahead with his ambitions and dreams for his company.

"I took it very hard at the time and even today, I feel it was a very harsh punishment for six minutes of rage on my part," he said.

"However, if God wants to charter a new course for my life, then maybe I should stop lamenting and start looking at what new opportunities there are.”

Mr Seow told TNP there are fewer restrictions on him now that he is no longer a lawyer.

He hopes to work more in the media and acted in a short TikTok video with content creator Titus Low, adding that the clip has since garnered over 300,000 views.

"I'm doing pageants on a bigger level now, being the biggest owner of male pageants in Singapore and Malaysia," he said.

Mr Seow invited me to be on the panel and judge the contestants on casual wear, formal wear, swimwear and x-factor. I was also tasked with asking a couple of the participants questions for the Q&A segment.

The pageant, held at Rave Singapore, was a lively affair with enthusiastic supporters cheering on the contestants.

There was even a surprise proposal contestant Daryl Ng who went down on bended knee to ask his girlfriend to marry him.

There were tears — from him — but she said yes.

Then came the moment everyone was waiting for, the awarding of eight prestigious titles, including the highlights of the night.

Mr World Singapore 2024 went to personal trainer and student Isaac Yip, 23.

He told TNP that he did not expect to win but was happy for the opportunity.

When asked what he is going to do now that he’s won the title, he said: “I’m going focus on school! I’ve got to get my grades up, my grades are bad right now!”

He added that he will then return to win more titles for Mr Seow.

Some were shocked when Accrelist executive chairman and managing director Terence Tea, 56, snagged the title of Mr World Singapore (Senior) 2024 despite being the oldest in the competition.

“At my age, I didn’t expect to come this far,” he said. “However, I have a slight advantage because I'm the oldest, so some people gave me some credit for that.”

On the winners, Mr Seow said: “To be honest, I’m a bit shocked but they are good winners and good-looking people. Terence, especially, has achieved great things in his life.”

He added that he will continue to make it his mission to get Singaporeans to support their own at pageants such as this.
