Why gyms allow people to set up work in their cafe area?

So sway ah these people.  Gym is for working out.  When they setup their laptops and even discuss work loudly, it just spoils the environment.

It's all for the $$$

I am more sian people setup their phone and video their workout. Basically intrude other ppl privacy. Also setup the phone where ppl walk.
Another thing is not using towel like other ppl enjoy their sweat.

I have seen few gyms who have a place to sit down and socialize.  Most of these have also a corner where they dispense coffee and some foods.  If some people sit down there and use their laptops,  isn't this "their own damn business"??  (  copied from a favorite expression from my next vice-President, Tim Walz )

I don't see how this can bother anyone!  Noise??  Gyms usually play noisy music, which is not...  not of the likeness of everyone.  YET,  one goes there to work out, and a pair of headphones or ear buds can block unwanted noise and replace it with one's own music.

As long as they did not put their laptop on the seats of the gym area, I don't see why they can't discuss work at the cafe area.

Maybe can tell the gym instructor to ask those in the cafe to keep their noise down.

Cos they spoiling the vibes for other people.  I'm ok if they're as quiet and discreet as the Japanese, which they're not.

If you are not the 'work from gym'  type of member,  do you feel appalled if the gym, not only turns a blind eye towards this behavior, but also slowly turns the cafe area into co-working space?

What next? Are they just bring their children and turn it into a convenient day care center next?

Other people should have personal control of their "vibes",  not disturbed by some music and noise.  As I wrote before, while exercising we can listen to our own music by using ear buds or headphones.   Or by concentrating on the exercise, regardless of sounds around.

Not a problem at the ActiveSG gym. Not atas enough to have a cafe area.

But many people in ActiveSG gym is not using towel even they have a towel, or some people even worst, didn't bring a towel with them.

If the gyms have separated work/ coffee areas, then I don't see the issue. But if it is just a corner within the gym without any glass walls etc around, then surely the noise may impact the gym goers.

But in general, people talking (let's say chatting) within the gym are also very annoying and on times noisy.

Gym instructors can be interrupting also, when they assist to gym goers.

Even worse two gym instructors gym-ing together...

I love those sitting on the "bicycles" but chit chatting for the complete 2 hours they cycle...

I also love ( love to cut their tongues ) these chatter boxes.  Decades ago I was using one of the bicycles in a row at my gym,  and a big fat ugly uncle with a loud voice parked himself beside my bike to chatter with a "friend" using the next bike besides mine.   I asked the guy if he could move to the other side of his "friend" since his talking was disturbing me.  He complied, not before giving me a piece of his ugly mind.  With my character,  I didn't remain silent myself, and he got a chunk of my mind.

Recently I see this ugly guy here and there.  He is not an uncle anymore,  he has become an old, fat man, still with a loud voice.  But now I don't feel anger but... pity!

Sorry I don't understand this thread at all. All of the gyms I've been to always blast their own music loud enough. How would someone working by the side interfere with the gymming in any way? If that person can somehow take a work call with booming music in the background, I take my hat off to them.

Unless the person is taking up the workout space to do work la - I've personally never seen anyone desperate enough to work to do that though.

I think it's the same as why students study in fast food restaurants or Starbucks. I think gyms can only ask them to lower down the volume, don't think they can refrain them from working.

I never understood why these outlets in Singapore tolerate this. In other cointries the staff would ask them whether they order something new or ( if not) to leave the place...
