I remember reading in hwz forum, the people complained they prefer NS  credits to cdc vouchers.

Which I wonder why??? Is that bcos cdc vouchers have to be shared between whole family??

If you have 5 male members in the family.  The total amount comes out to be $1000 per household for NS credit.  If it is govt CDC voucher, your household gets only $300 and shared among the 5 male members.

As for single male staying alone,  CDC voucher is preferred over NS credit because the latter amount tend to be quite small and the former tend to be distributed quite regularly too.

i believe many males rather not do NS
now the younger gen with much higher NS pay deemed that NS is such a tortorous and time-wasting process of 2 yr

my time is 2.5yrs, my dad is long gone

even @ my time, we are still consider a balanced family size by my Parent of 1-2 boys in each family (the remaining are gals)
we dont have 5 males

and even there are, all are married off with their own household!!

now Strawberrry gen, be it Alpha gen or Gen Z or the likes, i dont think the "5" , or even "3" is a good example to begin with

my siblings and friends are majority with just 1-0 kid only

Am not sure why others prefer NS credits but for me,

CDC vouchers can only be used at certain merchant whereas NS credits can be used with any merchant that accepts NETS/PAYNOW QR Payment. Best is covert to cash and used anywhere.

There are a few methods to convert to cash. The last NS Credit, I convert to cash with the full amount without paying any comission :)

Don't go Sheng Siong ATM.

Use the youtrip method.

I shared on my IGS and sharing with you all too!

So many steps just to get the $200.  Last time I go SS ATM, withdrawal $190 and the remaining sum I buy grocery on the spot.  No need to download this and that just to save the 20cts commission.   I have not received my 200 yet, always very slow in my case.  Don't know why, may be the word "Sweetie" is taboo in army and so they put me last in their payroll. 🤐

this is so much easier!! than the SS method!!!!!!!!!!! tks to @knightD, you shd directly share ur IG here!!!!
all useful tiktoks and IG ought to be shared
what are non-useful?eg meat or fresh meat photos -not nutritional to daily life or the mind at all

Cos not all of us is near to an SS
actually there is a tiktok video on  the SS method
but we are not allowed to share tiktok unsure why though

i saw the tiktok/Shengsiong methods many times on soc media, i m still confused and i never get near to a SS store at all

i wanna post it here to consult u guys , but not allowed to share tiktok

yes!! 20cents is fine but have to go to SS , if Coldstorage can shd be easy
if it can work on youtrip or whatever apps, i dont see any issue on Yuu or whatever apps,  Yuu is for supermaket/groceries too, isnt it
how can there be differentiation

I just received my $200 NS LifeSG credits earlier this morning.

I top it up to my Shopee wallet and in turn I transferred the $200 from my Shopee wallet into my bank account without any admin or service charge 👍👍👍👍👍

It will take 2 working days for the money to be transferred to my bank account. 😅😅🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Hmm that's weird. Managed to get mine transferred to ShopeePay on the first try.

Apps can be risky, with unexpected glitches.  Best is to ask SS staff for assistance at their ATM, instant cold hard cash in your hand. Hassle free.  I have not received my NS200,  please go try and let me know.

NTUC / ShengSiong / Cold Storage / Guardian and merchants will usually have promotions to attract the citizens to spend the government handouts at their premises.

Last time was another $4 (?) voucher if spend above $80 (?).

Somehow didn't see anything this time.
I may wait till the end of the month when everyone has got their allotments, then see whether any promotion announcement.

I did attempt to pay for expenditures to another government app using the NS200. "Not successfuly" was the statement I received from another government app, even though it seemed like my NS200 fund had been deducted.   I contacted to both authorities about the issues, and after some back and forth verifications, MINDEF finally refunded me the NS200 a month later. After that, I went to the SS ATM to take out cash to pay for necessary expenses instead of using apps to do it.

Huh? When did the above happened?

Some of us have not even received the $200 yet to be credited to our account by end November 2024. And yet you went through the above and "Mindef finally refunded you the NS200 a month later?".

As I remembered, the last NS55 amount was only $100.

My phone started beeping when I was shopping in Sheng Shiong. message from MINDEF. What a coincidence. Of course the most human thing to do, while I was at the  store, was to look for their ATM and withdrew $190.  I spend the remaining $9.80 on groceries.

The distinction between a CDC voucher and NSlife is that with a CDC voucher, you can make up the difference in cash if your groceries cost more than $9.80, whereas NSlife you must spend the exact or less than the amount of $9.80, that was what Sheng Siong staff told me.  In this regard, MINDEF failed to see the inconveniences.

There are shops and small grocery stores in HDB heartlands that also accept CDC vouchers. So you can use your $5 and $10 value vouchers up to the their full value, wisely
