Easier to find food, accomodation and go easy without going to greet and see Chinese during CNY. Best place are India, Kelantan Malaysia, Phillipine or Bali, Indonesia. Quote Life is short! All Chinese will be out in full force to celebrate CNY especially China, all attractions will have terrible human traffic jam, beside CNY, China is best avoided during their Labour Day in May and National Day in October. Went to HCM during CNY period in 2024 and nothing was open (not even McD, 7-11 or supermarkets). Essential places only start to open from CNY day 2 or 3 onwards. Food-wise, you will have to rely on the hotel restaurants only. Bars and clubs are not open either. You might be better off going to KL or BKK where places are open from CNY Day2 onwards.
