Thai police detain over 120 in underwear ‘drug party’ in Bangkok

Thirty-one suspects were found in possession of illegal narcotics such as crystal methamphetamine, Ecstasy and ketamine

Police in Thailand detained more than 120 people found in their underwear at a drug-fuelled party in Bangkok, officers said on Monday.

Police Colonel Pansa Amarapitak said they were tipped off about a “drug party” in a room at a hotel in central Bangkok early on Sunday morning.

Photos showed a room full of mostly male suspects in handcuffs and wearing nothing but underpants as officers searched them for drugs.

They found 31 of the 124 people arrested were in possession of illegal narcotics such as crystal methamphetamine, Ecstasy and ketamine, Pansa said.

He added that all of them tested for the substances and 66 were found with traces in their system.

He said all except two were men, and around five were foreigners.

Police are seeking the courts’ permission to hold those suspected of drug possession for questioning beyond the 48-hour window, Pansa said on Monday.

Recently, there seems to be more police action against gay establishments in Thailand.

Most of the saunas were raided the last 2 years, gay massage parlours, bars, etc etc.

To me it seems that conservative forces (ministers, officers) in the country try to fight against the pro gay legislation that Thailand has implemented the past years.

Drugs are always the easy pretext for police action against gay sex parties.

I always wonder how these guys get 120 people into a hotel room.

As Mr Hendry Tan said:

Stay away from drugs anywhere...

True.  No centenarians, fat people, bold people, only one blond Ang Moh in the first picture.   Could it be that experienced people said away from this "party"?

That’s an Asian guy with bleached blonde hair though. Also there’s definitely one fully-clothed woman in the lower middle part of the picture with what looks like a ponytail. I’m curious as to what she’s doing there.

Might be a shemale?

The picture shows about 30 bodies.  They are only 25% of the 120 people detained by the police.  Could there have been some other types of bodies among the rest?  But I'm not going to care about this,  every body is different!  😄   And each one should not have been doing drugs.

Maybe the lady is the drug supplier or the tea auntie?

Other reports say there were 3 ladies in total.

Judging from the good bodies, Someone who didnt qualify reported them 🤭

If you read the bangkok Post article, there was an earlier event and the police applied with undercover agents but their applications were rejected. They observed the group or initiator through Social Media. Most probably hacked the registration phone.

The tip off was probably an undercover police officer, who managed to get a registration for this event.

If you look at it, the organiser was probably already observed by the police for some time.

Amendment: The police observed the party since 6 December (actual event was on 8 December)

Quote: reported that the operation stemmed from intelligence received on December 6 about an illegal party involving drug use at room 2001 on the 20th floor of a hotel in North Klongtoey, Wattana district, Bangkok.

On December 7, Thonglor police collaborated with Metropolitan Police Division 5 investigators and Police 191 to plan the raid. The operation was executed at 1:30 a.m. on December 8, when officers received confirmation of numerous individuals entering the specified room....

The sour grape who was rejected and then reports to the police fits more to the local context. haha

Police raid hotel suite, arrest over 120 men in underwear at drug-fuelled party

In the early hours of Sunday (8 Dec), police in Thailand raided a hotel suite in Bangkok and arrested over 120 men, all wearing only their underwear, at a drug-fuelled party.

According to Thai PBS, 66 of the party-goers tested positive for drugs, and 31 were found in possession of narcotics.

Thong Lo police chief Pansa Amarapitak said authorities had been alerted to the party by a tip-off about drug use inside a hotel suite.

Ecstasy & ketamine seized from hotel suite

When authorities learned the party was an exclusive invite-only affair, they attempted to infiltrate the social media group organising it, but their requests for invitations were denied.

However, when police were notified that around 100 men had entered room 2001 on the 20th floor of the S3 Hotel at 1am on Sunday, they moved quickly to take action.

Police arrested 124 individuals, including both Thai and foreign nationals, in their underwear, along with two or three women.

Authorities also seized ecstasy and ketamine from the hotel suite.

Exclusive party with celebrities & beauty clinic administrators

According to Matichon, the party was attended by actors, former beauty clinic administrators, doctors, and professors, with many of the men identifying as gay.

The hotel suite, which costs around 32,000 baht (around S$1,300) per night, is designed for six guests and offers a view of the Bangkok skyline, along with a private pool, sauna, and mini-bar.

When the raid took place, the party-goers were eating and drinking in the suite’s living room.

The police chief also revealed that the group had partied at another location before arriving at the hotel.

Police testing found that 66 of the attendees had consumed drugs.

One man was identified as a potential organiser as he was in possession of a large amount of drugs and a QR code linked to payments.

A total of 27 party-goers who tested negative for drugs were released.

Not all the guys we see in these photos are very attractive,  but a sufficient number were.  Many identified as gay, and this makes me think that the objective of the party could better have been sex. 😄

124 individuals in their underwear.  They surely didn't get there in underwear, so somewhere there must have been 124 set of clothes with personal possessions inside, like documents and money.  How to trust the other 123 individuals, possibly strangers,  with leaving these objects around?  And Bangkok is not precisely a model city of honesty...   Hmmm... 124 not very smart individuals!

But 27 party-goers who tested negative for drugs were released.  This points to at least some smartness:  if being so attracted to these kinds of parties,  to stay away from drugs is at least one bit of caution,  enjoying the "atmosphere" while not being at risk of getting incarcerated.

The dress code for the night seems to have been quite clear. haha

I don't think it has something to do with smart or not smart.

If there were from more affluent backgrounds, then surely the money they lost on some theft wouldn't hurt.

Probably, they didn't go there with their 50k Rolex and other expensive gadgets. The suite seems quite big, surely it had sufficient wardrobes etc to place personal items.

But anyhow I don't think it was the main issue, but probably having a rave sex party on drugs.

The girls could have been food caterers / drink aunties / cleaners.

The funny part is that all articles differ on the amount of foreigners and locals. One says just 5 foreigners.

There is an update in a more recent article.

The police considers some of them belonging to a "secret society" that had organised such drug fuelled sex parties at different hotels in Bangkok.

Quote:

...the secret society regularly organised such events through Instagram...

He (Pol Major Witthawat Chinkham, commander of the Metropolitan Police Division 5) noted that the suspects were members of a secret society that used Instagram to coordinate these events.

He added that the group was a closely guarded secret and the raid was only possible due to tip-offs from concerned members of the public.

He said this group has been holding drug parties at several hotels around Bangkok, with the latest hotel being used twice. Police are taking action regardless of the suspects’ high social status, he said.

Assume, the tip off was either an undercover agent who attended one event or came from the hotel management/ reception staff.

The police often uses the pretext of "concerned member of the public" when they placed their own undercover agent into something.

Probably it was quite stupid to hold a second event at the same hotel in such short period, because I guess the cleaners were probably busy cleaning up the facilities and might have found certain items that rose suspicion.

Whether such behavior is detected in Bangkok, Malaysia, Thailand, or any other place, it has significantly devalued the gay community.  Pity.

You think straight people don't do drug fuelled sex parties???

My point was that such drug sex parties are not just solely a thing of gays.

While I don't understand the need for drugs on sex...  but we shouldn't boil the issue down to just gays.

Actually, sex can be that enjoying and satisfying, not sure what value drugs might bring into it.

but that's not for me to answer...
