T.win
Hi, I will be entering MOE as an untrained teacher soon. Was thinking of creating tele where us teachers can connect (as compared to purely within sch/ within subject). If there are any current/ ex- MOE teachers out there looking for friends (or perhaps even more tho within regulations ofc), kindly reply hehe Quote Link to comment
fun72
IMO, is inappropriate to start as MOE still not 'welcome' openly homosexual teacher. ‘’Minister for Social and Family Development Masagos Zulkifli said Singapore’s education policies and curriculum remain anchored on Singapore’s family values and social norms. This includes the family as the cornerstone of the social fabric and marriage being between a man and a woman.‘’ https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/is-it-okay-for-gay-teachers-to-come-out-in-class-gay-teachers-list-qualms-parents-urge-caution Quote Link to comment
Startup
Going by your logic, then one should not take on any government or civil service job at all. As far as I know, the government does not discriminate against anyone as long as you don't shit on your job. There are definitely gay teachers around and there are ones that one look can tell kind. But people don't bother as long as you don't impose anything on others. Just be professional. The same goes for army, police and what-have-you. There are definitely gays in these professions as well. I would say the homophobic sentiment might even be stronger in some fields. Leanmeat 1 Quote Link to comment

Haha 20 years later, now in the era of Lawrence Wong, for those who have such discriminatory views a bit 丢脸 (aka lose face/ embarrassing?) la. I feel very wronged because I'm not spreading ideals too, j sincerely trying to establish a community of those with similar professions, so yes. However, I do realise the fault in creating this discussion haha so will be closing this topic as soon as I find a way to.(for those teachers out there pls j dm me) Quote Link to comment

Startup Posted yesterday at 04:22 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 04:22 AM Usually I am not interested in replying to posts like this. And frankly I don't fully understand the statements you made. Are you saying that gays should not teach in moe schools at all? I am merely saying that everyone should have the right to choose their profession, regardless of their sexual orientation. Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think there is any employer, private or public, that requires us to state our sexuality when we apply for the job. To come out or not when you perform your job is a personal choice. And in any homophobic place, there will be repercussions. But we are not discussing that here. I am only talking about freedom to choose your profession without any fear. 1 hour ago, fun72 said: i would say u are betting other ppl careers over your own idealogy. https://www.ricemedia.co/current-affairs-features-singapore-queer-teachers-have-things-changed/ Quote Link to comment

MOE already make their stand and the are case that align/enforce their policy. Neither your nor me can change the situation. it is your choice to set your stand and your freedom to choose to open.
