cock brand
I love good food.Once a while, I would like to pamper myself to a nice meal in a nice restuarant.Asian, Western, Fushion, Buffet, anything, as long as its delicious and not some weird food.Anyone here also keen to try out new places, new cuisine with me?It'll be nice if there are 4 people as some places charge 3 for 4 diners, so its something like 25% savings.Of cos you know I don't mean places like food courts and cafe. And with 4 people, we can also have a wider conversation range; and easier to plan after dinner activities (in case we ate too much oysters )This can be a regular affair. cock brand
Lol Try Hilton Brunch buffet on sundays 12-3. Its superb =) How old are you guys anyway?Does it matter? Its for people who appreciate fine food to get together for food tasting outings. Its not for match making. And you don't normally get fine food in buffet, just variety and quantity(eat as much as you want) and Hilton is only just above average in quality. chubaholic
The buffet at Shangrila Hotel's The Line is indeed one of if not the best. :thumb: Quote 我有煙但係邊個有火。。。
nicefatboy
Yeah The Line's buffet is quite good but dont agree that it is the best in Singapore. Anyway dont think its that good a deal at $80 inclusive of taxes. Luckily they had a promotion for Shang Rewards cardmembers when I went yesterday so got a 50% discount. Baloo
http://www.camwheeler.com/wine/2008/au-jardin-les-amis-singapore/Au Jardin Les Amis - SingaporeThis is one restaurant with 'Gourmet food'or it's a different class from what you guys were talking about? The other one is at the Hilton... Cannot remember the name of the restaurant - on the 3rd floor... I went for a set dinner for four once... had 7 accompanying wines from appritarif to the dessert wine... and 2 others in the group of 4 brought another 3 bottles... fantastic evening... haha mind u, those are not your $50 per bottle wines from Carefour... chuberok
Wow Baloo, That some "atas" food to me. Really of a different league. Do let us know ur reviews after u try them. I remember i tried one Les Amis group restuarant before. It was at the first floor of the Shaw centre one.It was a friend bdae n i jioed all to the restuarant. End up nobody was satisfied with the food coz the serving was too small. But i have to say the food were exquisite and of good quality.Mine was a "something" sampler. 5 cuts of meat.I tot its worth it coz there will be 5 pieces altogether. End up only 5 bitesize meats!!! T_TSigh... yet to appreciate these food. lol

windanseaguy
Actually the best international buffet used to be at hotel phoenix at orchard road. The hotel is gone now...so sad. Price is average at about $32++ if I recall.
castaway
Good food are rarely in buffet . Few months ago, I was invited to have dinner in Equinox French Restaurant- Swiss hotel. The food was very little but taste so good (epecially the beef), wine was so nice. Every dish was introduced by a French girl, even later Chef will go to some tables talking with customers. The view is Marina bay by night so we were 2 guys finished 2 bottles of red wine and left restaurant around 1 am. You wont notice time passing by there.Never can forget about it :thumb: Really recommend for "Special" Anniversary !!! Baloo
it seems you guys more keen on quantity of food and quality...there's buffer brunch at Au Jardin on Sat or Sun mornings... unlimited Fragua...I'm probably at a stage where quality is more important than quantity...in which case most buffets you will be quite happy with the bread and cheese section and cut meats section... cheeper the better as all going for value-for-money in these deals...Conrad also has a good Champaigne Brunch if you into wine and dine and drunk by 2pm haha unlimited pour of pink bubblies... and quite a wicked sashimi spread as well...or go to Triple3 at the Mandarin on Orchard Road... If I remember correctly, best value for money - even Goh Chok Tong says so... and it's steamed crayfish is like by the crate haha... and roast peking duck... etc... can really eat one... go there... not too ex either.and of course, the Brazillian Restaurant of UNLIMITED meats kebabs... and a decent spread of salad and other condiments is really worth the price for the meat eaters among us who are into value for money eat until almost die missions... this is one restaurant you must consider... less than $50 per head... eat till you drop, wine not included... (who needs it when there's roast leg of lamb, roast beef, roast sirloin, roasted hot dogs so thick... they look cute... and roast chicken and fish, and other meats... *slurp** Edited November 11, 2009 by Baloo

cock brand
talking about good food. Does ambience play a part?Definately!Ambience does enhance a great meal - imagine having the same meal in a noisy food court and in a restaurant with nice decor, candle light and soft music?Ambience is very important especially when you're out to impress and it is very conducive romantically. However, the high price you pay for the meal is for the ambience.
tic-toc
That probably explains why buffet food tastes less delicious. Especially when there's someone shouting "boy, boy, take more prawns!" Quote If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun.
castaway
I think not only ambience but also whom you eat with Quote Sometimes, the greatest journey is the distance between two people
Baloo
still fixated on buffet? How can that be 'gourmet food'??it's a big mistake to classify gourmet food with BUFFET... which is mostly mass produced...
Dandriel
Bugis Junction Level 2. Look for a corner restaurant (2 stores restaurent away from seoul garden) call Ma Maison. Try the sirloin there. It damn well beats the $140 japan beef i ate in suntec. Its about 22++ or so and the taste is top-notch. The ambience is set in this very wooden countryside style with dim lightings. Damn gud experience ^^
