There are many ways to dissect the film, but  in essence, that's wat it was.

 

I think for horror movie fans, it was probably good - at least one of the better ones in recent memory.

 

I thought they showed too much in the trailers though, seems like all the good bits were teased out already.

 

 

It's not an exorcism movie, nor is it about haunted houses.

I heard it was good ..... so I sort of skip through all the comments quite quickly...cause I dun wanna people to let the cat out of the bag for the spectacular scenes.....gonna watch it tonite or tomolo. 


 


Best time to watch it alone, since it is Hungry Ghost....the last time I watch was the chinese ghost trilogy "迷离夜" alone a week ago and I took the first 6 rows with barely anyone around me in the theatre.....quite a disappointment cause not very scary one....wasted my $20 bucks on tixs and popcorn.   :yuk:

It's creepy because it's using old school techniques. Meaning not too much digital FX or what not. It's all in the soundtrack. I mean, I love horror movies and they creep me out but I haven't seen such a "scary" (read efficient) title screen for a while now. Just seeing that title screen with the music was creepy haha.

 

It's a good horror movie. Of course it's always the same thing: possession, blah blah, exorcism. But this one is efficient. Better than Insidious (at least to me).

Yeah, for someone who hates watching these type of movies (ie. Me) I would recommend watching the movie at the cinemas because watching it online (tsktsk) you wouldn't be able to experience it fully, not entirely immersed. And watch it like really late at night to avoid the "kids" btw I tot its nc16.

Anyway, love how the story is being told, how the intensity of each sequence builds up to next. Someone even cried midway in the movie.

What scares me are those scenes which shows demonic presence in the most natural way, you wouldn't have the feel that it's unreal.

Such a high threshold for horror

I always have to deal with sleepless nites, creepy feelings while showering etc after watchg any horror mvi abt the spiritual world

But always cldnt resist temptations n kept watchg horror n scaring myself

Am still contemplating to Conjur or not :(

Hahaha....I even like to scare my friends if i watch horror movies with them. I just like the kick of being scared... but so far not as yet cause my mind alway conscious of the fact that no matter what you see on the screen are all fictitious so don't really have to take it for real. 

 

I have always wanna join those ghost hunting trip but yet have the chance....maybe that might scare me a bit.  ^_^

Same I like cheap thrills like this, but no guts to participate in ghost-hunting tours.

haha im like you. as for ghost hunting trips, i have been to many since young. its not scary if you go in groups. best is go in pair only, which i havent tried.

I hate watching scary movies because my mind remembers things by images and I have an active imagination. So usually if I watch a horror movie, I will have a hard time sleeping for days but this one didn't have that effect on me. Although it was the only movie that made me scream in the theaters. Haha.

So go figure. :)

The house was due to them via a private auction where no details of the past owners were given. And they have planted all of their monetary assets on this auction. Hence they have nowhere else to go but to suck thumb and live inside the house. But they do know something's going on and requested the priest to check the house.

It's the best ang moh horror film in a very very very loooooooooong time. They don't use jack-in-the-box scare tactics that just causes you to jump and then it's over. Rather, they fully immerse you into the horrific environment of the main family, and you can feel the "attacks" upon each family member as though you were there.

 

The excellent directing and acting makes you wish for the family's safety, and you are genuinely frightened FOR them when you see the scares.

 

Also, the director adeptly manages to drag out an entire scary scene for up to 30 minutes (**clap clap** anyone?) to put the audience in a complete sense of dread, hopelessness and eeriness before upping the stakes and slowly revealing more of the mystery/tragedy behind the house with a well-developed scare.

 

Many girls were crying in the full-house cinema, which helped made the atmosphere even scarier. There was even a scene so scary (the cellar) that the guys had to "laugh" it off, if not they would probably jump too.

So far the best, next to asian horrors! Not too many startling scenes.

I guess its better to watch it in the cinema rather than online..

And its even better to watch it in less crowded movie theatre.. It becomes a partly annoying movie experience for me due to the unnecessary small talks that can be clearly heard, which spoils the atmosphere..

it didn't scares me even a little but did some good scares on my neighbouring patrons. I in fact I find some parts funny that I started laughing (coz my neighbouring patron got so freak out and screamed), and people started laughing too...

 

i totally don't get the point. the concept is okay but the elements doesn't gell. just too many unrelated ghost around. look at the poster and you'll know that the ghost doll have nothing to do with the central haunting.

The film seems to be filled with tons of jumps scare and some eerie moments

which probably won't invade and stay in your mind for long.

 

The actors perform pretty good though, I like it :rolleyes:.

Most importantly, why didn't show more of that doll?!

At one point of time....when the daughter was alone with the granny....I thought it would be a Evil(Doll) vs Evil(Witch) scenerio which i thought could be quite an interesting sight. :huh:

 

I thought....the Doll might make a turn and save the daughter from the Witch. Wahahaha.... ^_^

After reading so many good reviews abt this show, watching the trailers online n scaring myself by letting my imagination ran wild, I finally plucked up the courage to watch it just now

And I find it overrated n overhyped in terms of scariness :(

For those who find this show very scary or eerie, it means u have not watched "The Exorcist" produced in the 70s.

We did watch it before, but we cannot stay in that era forever....in this era, conjuring is considered outstanding.....

 

There are many overhyped movies, i dont think conjuring is one of them

 

 

When exorcist came out, it is the more impactful at that time, because it s the "first time" people feel something for it

 

 

Just like now, so many ghost movies from thai to korean, this is the best at the moment and SAW is very good (not because i liked the director, hence i voted for his Conjuring, his insidious sucks)

 

but Conjuring is so good (though i m not even scared because i m numbed by it) , but it managed to capture me....

 

 

A breath of freshness ....the breath into your ears (if u r reading this at late night now) ...

 

 

We cannot say so long no one beat Exorcist, there will NO longer be annual awards to the remaining up and coming film right?
