Just wonder which Singaporean Actor with international acclaim is out there?

The threadstarter's sentiment is blinded by this "always to be number 1 obsession" and ridicilous " Singaporeans first" mindset.

With your attitude you would need to boycott quite a lot of things out there because the local content is missing.

The pure local movie and tv scene is still being far from any international standard. Boring soap operas always turning around the same storyline, movie? ah boys to men?...

There could be other reasons too that maybe no Singaporean actor wanted to be associated as filthy rich...

I hope you're chewing on some real made in Singapore fish crackers now (threadstarter better check the packaging, yup no skip this bus; it was surely not a Singaporean bus driver....)

And Henry is of international standard?

Tan Kheng Hua makes it to Hollywood again... after 2005's movie Cages.

Remember how MediaCorp old hag Zoe Tay flew all the way to LA to audition with Cages director Graham Streeter?

In the end, he unceremoniously rejected her, stating her performance and English was not up to standard.

Me 2! I am a fan too. But he seems a little on the slim side... I would like my men to be stronger.

“Along with the Gods 2: The Last 49 Days” has a few plot twists and surprises, but it doesn’t have too many of tear-induced moments as the first movie. Highly recommended! Please note you need to watch the first movie to understand the second one; otherwise you will be lost totally.

Ya agree with victorp, after watching Part 2, it gives me some sort of mixed feeling. It is not as emotional as the previous episode and yet a good combination of plot twisting and highlighting of the guardians. I wonder how are they going to scriptwrite the subsequent sequels as expectation would have been raised from the previous 2.

Luv “along with d gods: d last 49 days” for giving us d stories of d guardians and showing us why they were put together as a team.  Instead of jus having d guardians guide d paragon thru trials, the focus on them added in more substance to the story line.

Hello!

So I was looking around for horror movie recommendations and I realise too many people are not comfortable/scared of horror movies.

But, I'm the weirdo who laughs at horror movies - just trying my luck to see if there are any recommendations for shows that might scare me a little?

I have the same problem.  I cannot get horrified by horror movies, instead they make me laugh.

People I went with to see horror movies got angry with me for my sarcastic laughing just at the most horrific scenes.

just make sure you dont have undetected  heart problems or congneital heart problems,

the combination of horror movies with their sudden change in tempo and scare and shock scenes and your unnatural reaction of laughing  heartily and sudden change in emotion from fear to intense laughter may be too much and too sudden a change for your poor heart ,

we may a disaster and medical emergency in the making,

you might just suffer a heart stoppage while you are happily laughing away at horror scenes,

the next day news paper may read man found dead alone in flat, weirdly there was a frozen wide smile on his face,

paramedics and police found that TV was on and a movie of horror genre was in the player,

nextdoor neighbours coomented that the deceased mainly kept to himself but reported hearing loud laughter coming from the deceased unit of extraordinary loudnessand intensity while the deceased was alone in the unit, they expressed concern that the former neighbour was either inhaling laughing gas or was siow one.

Hahahaha. This would make a pretty good ironic horror film!

Don't watch if you stay alone.  Unless you have a manly partner to offer you his chest to take cover on shock scenes.

Hahahah. I don't get scared of horror films, but I won't say no to having a partner to offer his chest. HAHAHAH.

Guest Try and see

Actually, if you prefer the real stuff, go to Youtube and search under things like "unexplained paranormal activity caught on film".

After all, a horror movie is still a movie, and even when they are based on true events, the producers always add all kinds of embellishments to increase box office sales.

E.g. the upside crosses scene in Conjuring 2 never happened in real life.

And they always make the characters do silly, illogical things e.g. they know the house is haunted - still leave the whole house pitch dark at night!

Agree, those ghost buster videos will certainly give you goose bumps with creepy scenes caught on camera.

sometimes too many editing in the video, don't know which one is true which one is fake. Fake one looks so real nowdays in the video either to get subscription or just pure prank.

If you want to be scared, don’t watch Asian supernaturals because their ghosts (especially Chinese ones) are not scary.  Also, your immunity to horrors will increase if you watch the same series e.g. Nightmare on Elm Street 3 was really horrifying for my first view but subsequent sequels no longer thrill me.

My recommendations (subjective) for English horrors:

1.  Dead Silence

2.  Devil (story about 5 trapped in a lift)

3.  Drag Me to Hell

4.  Silent Hill

5.  The Eye

6.  The Fog

7.  The Hills Have Eyes

8.  The Island

9.  The Uninvited

My only Chinese (HK movie) recommendation is this one I watched in 1982

凶榜 (The Imp)  starring Charlie Chin 秦祥林

Yes! I have searched out for a few but it just kinda leaves things unexplainable and fascinating. The real ones don't really scare me per se, but maybe it's cause I've never encountered something so violent and unknown yet! Hahaha.

Did you try this old cult movie: "Itchi the Killer"?

A little gore, but some excellent actors, and a good music.

I have heard of this one but I just never got around to watching it. Alrighty, I wrote it down on my list. Thank you!

Maybe that's why I'm not scared of these movies. Cos I'm too used to seeing my own scary reflection. Also, bad habit of mine - "horror" is used wrongly here. The word you're looking for is "horrifying".

Oooooh! I am very very very thankful for your list! I have caught like 6 out of the 10 recommendations! I'll find the time to watch them all soon! Thank you thank you!

I do quite like horror movie. So many of my friends labeled me as "mad, crazy" - why do you want to scare yourself?

Come to think about it - most horror movies do have some stories behind, especially Thai production: hatred, jealousy, fame, greed - resulting in a person death and the unwillingness to let go, thus the haunting begins...

Guest Horror fan

. I face similar issue as a fan of horror and none of my friends wants to watch with me. Personally i feel that horror games are scarier than movies now adays. You can consider watching lets play on youtube if you dont feel like playing yourself. For example, resident evil 7 and outlast are pretty scary. Of course if you dare to play those games it will give you the greatest scares.
