I was there ytd between 7-9ish and i didn't see any police or heard any commotions about it. Maybe it happened outside of my time there.

 

But I think a police visit, if there was one, and a police raid are two different things. A police visit could be routine checks or to render some form of assistance when there's a call for one. A raid would usually involve several police officers. Patrons who were in attendance would most likely be subjected to some form of questioning, and the operations of the establishment would be halted for a period of time during the so-called raid. My point here is, one should exercise caution when making comments by the choice of words one use. It's not helpful if it was misconstrued and create unnecessary fear. Again, I'm just making a commentary here.

What I heard was that someone had tried to use a master key to open the lockers and the management has requested the police's assistance to get rid of the culprit.

Bring your IC to register at the counter, they need to ensure you are of legal age.  Also, go there like you do your normal cruising in the mall.  Nobody will force you to strip or have sex.  It is an open will environment, and legal to touch other men, if the men there allow you to.   You can go in, take a look, and than exit if you wish.  I did that when I was a first timer, as simple as that.   However, be warned, you might ended up staying until midnight because it can be additive seeing guys moving around - naked or not, and than you probably wished to target a person you like, or become part of the game. I concur! When I went sauna too regularly, I realised it was more difficult for me to score. But when I stopped going for a while and then turned up again, they were more interested in me, thinking that I was a newbie.

 

Dear TS, you do not have to be naked unless you choose to go when their theme is Skin.

But you have to be semi naked, as in wrapping yourself with a towel only, with or without underwear. There is also an underwear theme when everyone wears underwear only.

A few years back when i went to the sauna at clark hatch gym at puteri pan pacific johor bahru. There was a sickly looking PRc looking chinese guy cruising and trying to proposition and entice gym goers and sauna patrons.

 

Later on , i discovered MYR$ 100 lost from my waller. Only ringgit 50 left. I was pretty sure that PRC guy had a master key to open lockers.

Latee on the hotel gym instAlled a new lock that allowed clients to bring their own lock to padlocked their lockers.

 

I hope it was the same PRC GUY they caught this time around in keybox.

A Singaporean PR was caught duplicating locker keys and he stole some stuff (not sure if it was money or underwear as the boss was scolding him). It was about 4pm when he was caught and many patrons were at the locker area witnessing the scene.

 

The boss called the police and they settled outside the sauna and there was no police raid or disturbance to the business.

 

Afternote: Thought the boss could have handled this better as there were several customers complaining and questioning the security of their items locked in the cupboards. I think he brushed them off (mostly conversed in hokkien and some chinese but wasnt clear as they were shouting). 

 

Nonetheless, business was not affected. The buffet was served but queues started forming since 7pm. Indeed hungry ghosts! Like one member suggested, a free gift would be better than buffet. Imagine one dinner buffet = 50 pax × $10 = $500, this can buy many candy canes or chocolates for the 3day xmas weekend.

Really dont understand how one so stupid and dare to steal from lockers while there are people usually hanging around the locker area. Some newbies always like to volunteer to sit at locker area to guard lockers for patrons.

Anywhere this guy whom was caught must have done it many times in other saunas too. So far i have been to Shogun, i think Shogun locker area is most remote and easily targeted by thief among other saunas. 2nd will be Ten Men because some lockers are not visible enough. I feel CC and Keybox locker areas are quite brightly lit and visible by patrons.

    The last times and few times , when thief striked was when there were long queues at keybox...if one follows KB threads here, hence the locker thief strikes on opportunity of crowded locker usage, hence loitering at locker was not easily caught. This time he was caught, was business in KB drops after few incidents, and the thief still try his luck but was caught, thinking Christmas eve , KB should be crowded, then he failed.

 

4)   Keybox should consider  A) Double Locks   B) Video Cameras at Locker area, to win back patron confidence.

 

Queues have not been with Keybox recently in the past 1 month due to repeated theft incidents. Many customers have been silent, due to getting too much with police, letting the thief grew bolder till caught on Christmas Eve.

 

While we do not know if this is only 1 culprit, or there are others accomplice, working in such activity, guard for a secured locker system must not be let down.

Locker security is basic responsibility of Keybox.

 

People may lost important personal documents, passports, mobile ...etc...If this is not your priority to protect your customers. why should customers risk while you benefit from their patronage,  hence inconvenience if they are important documents, pc, passports..... etc....

 

KeyBox Management, I am sure you are reading forum here, please for the sake of your management image , respond, even if it is a one line response, and not just remain silent.

 

I am sure, with a statement of confidence, those days of long queues and shortage of lockers at Keybox will happen soon.  Its your prerogative.

He came to Singapore last year to steal.

 

In just two visits here barely a month apart, British national James John Watson broke into 10 lockers at two gyms and a backpackers' hostel and made off with more than $12,000 worth of cash and belongings.

 

Watson was thwarted by a victim who activated a tracking app for a stolen iPad, located him and called the police.

 

Officers found cannabis on Watson, along with housebreaking tools such as a screwdriver, three mini-crowbars and a pocket knife.

 

Four days after his arrest, he again broke the law by hurling vulgarities at a police officer.

 

Yesterday, Watson, 59, who was living in Cambodia, was jailed 26 months for theft in dwelling, drug possession and for using abusive language towards a public servant.

Court papers said Watson first arrived in Singapore on July 9 last year on a social visit pass and checked into the InnCrowd Backpackers' Hostel in Dunlop Street.

 

He checked out the next morning, but lingered at the premises and broke into a locker belonging to Swiss national Remo Bernasconi, 25, a fellow hostel guest.

 

Watson took Mr Bernasconi's belongings, including cash, credit cards, an iPod, a tablet, and storage drives worth $3,218.

 

Even though closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras caught Watson in the act, he avoided being arrested by leaving Singapore the next day.

 

Watson returned from Cambodia on Aug 3 for more loot.

 

The next day, he went to the Fitness First gym at The Cathay and requested to use the facilities, claiming to be an overseas member.

 

When he was denied entry, Watson asked if he could check out the facilities and was allowed to walk into the gym unaccompanied.

 

BROKE INTO 
5 LOCKERS

 

In just 10 minutes, he went to the men's locker room, broke into five lockers, stole cash and belongings amounting to about $4,500 and left the gym.

 

Two days later, he used the same ruse to enter the Energia Fitness Club at Merchant Road, where he made off with $4,660 of stolen property and cash.

 

Watson was nabbed that day after one of the victims, Mr Gaston Ng, 33, used the "Find my iPhone" app to locate his stolen iPad.

 

The Singaporean, a freelance gym trainer, tracked it to Dunlop Street, where he spotted the accused and called the police.

 

Officers found the housebreaking tools, some of the stolen items as well about 1.79g of cannabis mixture and 1.39g of cannabis on Watson.

 

After his arrest, Watson suffered two heart attacks and was diagnosed with ischaemic heart disease.

 

On Aug 10, police investigation officer (IO) Calvell Chia visited Watson, who was then warded at Singapore General Hospital. Watson became agitated when he saw the IO.

 

Senior Staff Sergeant (SSSGT) Munawir Mohammad Tahir, who was on ward duty, stepped forward to calm Watson down, only for Watson to hurl vulgarities at him instead.

 

Watson later told the authorities that he was here to raise money for his girlfriend's medical expenses in Cambodia.

 

Yesterday, Deputy Public Prosecutor Jeremy Lua said in his submissions that only $5,010 worth of stolen property was recovered and no restitution was made.

 

Defence lawyer Henry Lim said in mitigation that his client was in poor health. He said that Watson's partner had given birth in Cambodia, but Watson did not know what happened to them

The police have arrested a 33-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a theft case in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

 

A 33-year-old victim had reported that he had been exercising at a gym in Raffles Boulevard, and had left his belongings in the gym's locker, said a police statement. After the training session, the victim realised his mobile phone, wallet, and personal documents placed inside the locker were missing.

 

Officers from the Central Police Division managed to identify the suspect, and arrested him during an operation around South Bridge Road, shortly after midnight on Wednesday.

 

Preliminary investigations also indicate that the suspect may have been involved in other similar theft cases.  

 

Police have advised members of public to be mindful of their valuables to prevent theft.

While many thought it was a first few incidents, it seems apparent that thefts at Keybox Box Sauna has been ongoing re-occurring for years.

 

KeyBox, should be aware that all these posts are read internationally, and Customers' security is of utmost importance, while rejected former many claims as rumours / sourgrapes from similar competitors.

Customers have given the benefits of doubts to KEYBOX , that of such claimed, as supported by many guests, that thefts were untrue.

 

It is now confirmed KEYBOX LOCKER SYSTEM is unsafe, unsecured with the Christmas Eve 2016, recurring theft, with the witnessing of Police in KeyBOX premises.

 

If nothing's done to improve or assure customer's confidence, Keybox Sauna will suffer great loss, than the cost of security improvement and its image tarnished in the gay business community.

 

Do not be a ill-responsible business operator, when basic security cannot be assured.

It's a shame to gay community and should not be listed in the gay directories such as utopi-asia, fridae, trevvy or other international directories.

 

Infact, all should vote to have them exit the pink business community, unfit to provide basic security and interests of patrons

 

If you seriously want to gain the support of the gay community, Please do something immediately.

Just wanted to share my experience with tampering of my locker at Keybox. I have been a very loyal patron of keybox up until my last few occurrence where I found my locker tampered with not on one occasion, but repeated over 3 occasions with the last incident happened in Dec. The last incident was final blow when I have "evidence" of this happening.

 

Firstly, I would like to ask how come there is no CCTV at the locker area especially during crowded hours. I see people often "crowding" around certain locker area  Secondly, how did someone"gain access" to my locker where I was holding on to the supposed master key puzzle me? Unless this is an inside job? Leave you 48g gold necklace, rolex watch, LV bag, ipad, ect at home. Just goto sauna with around 50-60 dollars that is more than enough for transport, food and entrance fee.

Hello u work for keybox huh? Valuable things doesn't mean expensive things OK. Valuable things may also mean your documentation, your wallet, your bag , your iPad. So everything can be valuable even your underwear.... So don't assume

 

Secondly, I come from work so unfortunately sometimes I may carry expensive things such as my laptop. Like that how? You cannot tell the patrons to go home deposit their valuables than come.

 

Thirdly, blame blame blame 

Everything is patron fault

Install that bloody CCTV than we will have evidence. But tell u not patron not stupid. They also have their own CCTV on their phone, so they already have "evidence" or some wrong doing or not they won't blow hot air.

this is not a competitor issue, neither is it a trivia issue. This is a security issue. If cannot even guarantee the safety of patrons, than dont open the sauna. Every complaint is serious. If management is really serious about patron concern, they will issue a directive to open every locker and check for missing items. Or simply put it, if they can start having that CCTV so we can all look at the playback and show in BLACK AND WHITE whether there is a "wrongdoing".

 

BUT UP UNTIL TODAY, WHY NO CCTV IN LOCKER AREA?????? DO U HAVE SOMETHING TO HIDE?

 

CCTV is not expensive wor, go to sim lim can get a cheap CCTV. 

 

If management is really genuine, please do something about it. Dont wait until become big issue, than rectify it. By than, ur reputation is gone!

Can someone please verify this information? Is it true? Is that why second floor is cordoned off?

Do you know if there are cctv installed at locker area or walk way, upon criminal case lodged to police. The police first thing to do is to get the cctv system back to police station for viewing.

The next question is how comfortable are you to let any police men or any officers or gov personnels to watch you stripping and change out underwear and cat walking around in gay sauna, ect without your conscience. The gov will know you are gay.

Then 2nd question is how much you trust none police men, gov personnels will leak out the video.

One thief case of a patron may cause all the future trauma and troubles to all patrons. Is that fair to all other patron?

Back to norm, it is common practice to not to keep valuable items in the locker of any public place. Not only in keybox. In all swimming complexes and gyms too. Again, you responsible for your own valuable items in the locker. Convenient or inconveniemt to you. You took the risk yourself. Why keep on blaming keybox for not be able to help you to catch the thief by providing cctv evidence?

Question again. How on earth you think having cctv at locker area will stop the thief? Like the case the thief was from uk and he just went to keybox one time and then flee away.

Unlike other saunas, Keybox helps keeping patrons' privacy and identity.

You never know other sauna staff may resign one day and bring the cctv clips away.

CCTV is a two-edged sword.

While it provides security but aint we paranoid if our "cruising" actions are captured by the video camera?

 

The onus is on the patron himself.  Just carry the basic needs - your phone, some loose change and travel cards.  There is no need to bring along the "kitchen sink" or to flaunt you wealth as almost everyone is stripped down to underwear/towel or even naked.

But ultimately, the locks are easily breechable.

So the solution for KeyBox to instill confidence back to the patrons is to up the security for the lockers.

Even some saunas in third world countries have lockers with double locks. It's not something that difficult to implement. The double lock system that requires heavy metal cutter to break into. Makes it more difficult for theieves to break into.

It's a win-win situation for the establishment, as well as the patron. Patrons who find it troublesome can just use one lock.
