suckling_pig
This is very serious. If the cops are raiding because of prostitution / illegal immigration etc / drugs then fine. But if they are raiding because of harassing gays, this has to end.To those of you caught in uncomfortable situations, be calm and ask if you are being charged with any offence. This is your right as a citizen. If not, they should not be treating you poorly, and certainly not vulgarities. They usually send in one or two scouts a couple of hours before the raid. If you are sensitive you might be able to tell who the scouts are. They seem abit apprehensive and uncomfortable. TheVisitors
the whole story of the raid is . someone stole the boss wallet . suspected victim challenge the boss to call police . the boss really call and every one have to have their bag check before exit. The recent case about the raid is a myth. And I am really surprised due to lack of info or people here are so plain ignorant that they add unnecssary comments to stir the hornet's nest.It was not even a raid. That day at in the early afternoon, while the owner..J...was cleaning up some areas, there were only 3 customers there at that time. His wallet was indeed stolen with a hundred dollars cash but luckily his IC and other bank cards were not there.Since there were only three customers, he requested them if they could open up their bags and lockers themselves for him to see the contents in it.'One of guy resisted and was very angry while the other two were willing. He demanded J to apoloqize and challenged him to call the police. If you know J's temper well enough, so he did.The 3 uniform police arrived shortly within 20mins.By then. about 7 more customers walked in but the poilce didn't question them or harrass any of them. They were dealing the case bewteen J and the other chap. What happened I am not going to tell you anymoreFor your info, raids are conducted by plain clothes policemen, operating during peak hours of the site.If you do see uniformed policeman, it is not a raid.A raid is conducted with spotlights with all lights in the site on, and with everyone's particulars taken down with your belongings inspected thoroughly. The authorities already know about the nature of such place, because it has a legal license to operate. Guest RAID
To TheVisitors, i need to correct you some of the points you have made.1. There are plain clothes policemen, and it is more than 3. Im not sure if the uniform policemen were there before that.2. The raid was during peak hour, between 7pm-8pm.3. All lights were on and the music was stopped when the police command them to do so.4. All the people in the cubicles were demanded to come out, with them going around banging the doors.5. All the patrons belonging were inspected thoroughly, even vitamin pills in the bottles were poured out on the floor.Does it not sounds like a raid? As though i was back in the army daze... Guest european visitor
Hey guysI'm visiting S'pore next month. As a foreigner; could I get into trouble getting caught up in such a raid? Seems like such a stupid thing to do of the S'pore police. I can imagine the police overhere in Europe being totally embarassed about raiding a gay sauna; they'd prob wouldn't even dare to switch on the lights Also, how's the crowd like in Keybox? Young, old? Locals, foreigners?Thx! evianguy
gz69
We all go to a gay club to relax and have a nice time. Any news of raids for whatever reason will deter some from going to any gay club. I suggest we have a Raid Bulletin and that BW interviews the spa owner and get the correct version instead of many hear-says and unofficial versions. And for those who bring poppers, I hope the Police will arrest you and charge you for using illegal drugs. Poppers is one reason for being tested HIV positive for its reaction to the tests. If you have the technique and use the proper ED pills, no reason why you need such sniffers to give you the high. And clubs should put up warning posters against use of illegal drugs. These will only invite more police raids. Gay sex is now tolerated so long as we do not create unwanted publicity. Just because you want to sweep this under the carpet doesn't mean it will disappear.why is everyone so paranoid? Why is this considered paranoid?Paranoia describes a condition whereby a person becomes overly concerned over something which has not happened or might not happened. This is not the case here. A raid did occur recently! This is not the fault of Keybox nor the patrons. This is the oppression of the ruling party. Grow a backbone and fight back. Vote them out. superflawless
"In the aftermath of the May general election, the newly formed PAP government acknowledged the growing desire of Singaporeans, especially the younger generation for a more pluralistic political system tolerant of dissenting views and promised to 'listen' more to the people's concerns.Less than half a year later, the PAP government has switched back to its usual repressive mode by using the police to clamp down and discourage seemingly innocuous activities which are remotely 'political' in nature. The recent police investigations into two forums organized by opposition party the Singapore Democratic Party and NGO Singaporeans for democracy purportedly for breaching Section 16(1)(a) ofthe Public Order Act 2009 not only highlight the government's continued use of the police to silent legitimate political discourse of any sort in the public domain, but also send a stark warning to others not to step out of the OB markers. The sad part about the fiasco is not the relentless police harassment of opposition leaders and civil activists, but the continued silence and general apathy of the larger public who remain ignorant of their political rights as citizens of the country thereby enabling the government to continue using precious state resources on alleged 'crimes' which would have been considered as normal in any other democratic countries."by The Temasek Review on Thursday, 13 October 2011 at 13:
