member_757
I know the key to gaining mass is to lift and eat more. However I am finding it difficult to eat more.Especially when I am working. Its hard to squeeze in time for snack after lunch and breakfast. And I cant force myself to eat a larger portion in one meal. Have started to eat supper nowadays. Only during weekend I can split my meals to 5 or more a day.

French fries, cha kway teow, chicken wings, laksa, desserts. I have to control my greedy stomach all the time. How come your stomach is not greedy for yummy junk foods? No matter how and when I weight myself n obtain my fat %, it hovers between 10 to 12%. Good as a rough guide. i heard skin fold measurement is more accurate but dunno where to do it. cakeboy
If you havent touched gym for a while or is a gym virgin. Here is what you may do:- 1) Just go to gym. Do whatever. Stay at places you feel comfortable and not get intimidated. Get used to the gym surroundings, know briefly where is the cardio, where is the machines and where is the free weights. 2) Start with some light cardio. Treadmill, rowing machine, steps machine, bike machine...etc. You have not been working out your heart. Get your whole body pumped with blood. Get used to the faster heartrate. 3) For your first trip to gym, this will conclude your workout. Do not overwork your body. You will have the tendency to burst forth but hold your energy back. Save it for future trips, the journey has just begun. Don't spend more than 1 hr. 4).... Post here once you done first 3 steps. constantine
hey all experienced bodybuilder! it has been very informative reading all 13 pages of this forum. a little about myself: i started gyming about 4 years back in cali with my friends, but stopped after i entered uni becos of the heavy workload (bad bad move). now picking up gym again and i aim to lose body fats and become muscular.now the dilemma - i read that it's not possible to lose weight and become muscular at the same time? i can only focus on one goal, is that true?my intro is 25 172 80 chi. hope i can get some advice from you all! Jekyll@hyde
now the dilemma - i read that it's not possible to lose weight and become muscular at the same time? i can only focus on one goal, is that true?my intro is 25 172 80 chi. hope i can get some advice from you all! It is good that you have taken initiative to have a healthy lifestyle. My view - based on your body weight and % fat (I assume > 18%) you would not be able to see the muscle now. But with consistency of correct training and right diet, not to mention rest you will go thru a certain stage of transformation. ( i.e. from body fat of 18% to 16 % to X%) With the transformation you will see your fat burn off and able to see your strength increase week after week ,where you gradually build and see your muscle. It is a long journey but an achievable and possible result. .Remember - "Rome is not built a day " i would strongly suggest you to find out ( from PT or fitness consultant) your body type and fat percentage so that you will be able to strategies your training and measure your progress effectively. With body type known you will able to know what type of diet to take that will help with your goals ( which is very important) Thats my take on this. I too on my journey to cut fat and so far my experience i share here has proven effective to me esp for my body type.
constantine
hey thanks for your patience in replying me! my percent body fat is 28.4% so i guess im fat rather than muscular? total weight is 80.7kg, muscle mass is 33.5kg, body fat mass is 32.9kg (normal range is 27.8-34), body water is 42.3kg. so how shld i train n diet to achieve weight loss and gain muscle?
